Model 29 is the gold standard.

Anyone else says different is just trying to justify their shitty purchase.

I have a Redhawk, 5.5 inch. Trigger is heavy in double action but single action is pretty good. It's also a slightly heavier, bigger gun that can take hotter loads.

Smiths are nice, Rugers are tough. If you're not planning on shooting hot as fuck .44's for the rest of your life the Smith would probably be a better choice, though you should really get one of each for pimp status.

i might suggest if you reload and like really heavy magnum loads, and mounting optics a ruger blackhawk hunter. If it is for hunting or just range use... Or a Redhawk not as a rugged system as the single action but if it can handle the 454 casull...

The Smith is no doubt a more aesthetically pleasing design, but durability and strenght go for ruger.

I personally would get the smith in 6 1/2" or 8" and then the ruger blackhawk hunter with ivory grips

what? one shot of 44mag in SA is not that hard to fire recoil wise. it's follow up shots that are the problem, sure, for bear defense and AK carbine is your best bet but some folks don't want to lug one around.

Honestly, too much. It cost 1100 at Cabelas, but I bought peoples gift cards after christmas for cheap as well as $100 gift cards for $85 on ebay. In the end, I really only spent about 800, which I think is a steal.

Nope. It functions great. Double action is a strong but predictable, single action is short and crisp.

The recoil can be a bit stout but that's to be expected. I have the wood grips but also some plastic rubber grips, but they bite into that fleshy part between my thumb and pointer finger.

.44 Specials are like shooting .22s, it's great for introducing people to the handgun. Sometimes I load both in one cylinder for flinch training purposes.

The nickel plate is great. I never worry about corossion but I clean it normally anyway.

It is a tack-driver to boot. I recommend getting one if you can.
