What should I look for when purchasing an SKS? I want to head out to local pawn/fun shops and try to pick one up at a decent price but I don't want to get ripped off. I don't mind having either a Russian or Yugo model, just no chink shit. My budget is $450 but I want to get cheaper so I can buy ammo and maybe even an optic for it.
>>
Also can you guys recommend me a stock pouch to carry stripper clips? I was going to get this

Chink military guns are as good as any Yugo (minus the crappy wood the stock is made from).

Easy way to tell them apart is to look on the BC. If it's got a shallow pocket milled on the bolt handle side (and the serial on said BC matches the receiver) then it's a Type 56.
>>
>>33071151
...or the fact that the chink Norinco SKS' have chinese lettering all over them lol

I'll sell you my Sino-Soviet type 56, 1k rounds of GT 7.62x39, somewhere close to 100 Czech milsurp stripper clips, and a Yugo ammo pouch for $575.

I've still got the original stock and rear sight. You can get a replacement takedown lever that just snaps right in if you don't like the peep.
>>
condition (obviously), whether the parts match serial numbers (where applicable), and whether is all original or missing parts. not only does the last thing lower the value of a rifle, it also increases cost if you choose to replace those parts. for example taking of the bayonet seems to be a common thing on the secondary market.
>>
>>33071185
Can I ask why you're giving an SKS away for free?
>>
>>33071130
>What should I look for when purchasing an SKS?
For it to be before 2012. They're overpriced as fuck these days.

>I don't mind having either a Russian or Yugo model, just no chink shit.
1) Russian SKSs cost more than AKs do nowadays.
2) You need to understand that "Chinese SKS" means more than one thing:
>Chinese military surplus Type 56
And
>Norinco made-for-export SKS
The former are usually on-par with Russian guns though it's hard to find them not beat-to-hell (the furniture in particular tends to be rough) because unlike other combloc nations China actually fielded SKSs on mass scale.
The latter are more of a crapshoot. They run the gamut from completely fine to total shit because Norinco was slapping them together to send over here during the AWB and they didn't really give a fuck about quality control.

Zastava makes excellent guns but most Yugos are front-heavy for no reason due to the useless grenade launcher bullshit, and in really fun scenarios your gas cutoff for launching grenades can fuck up and you suddenly have a gun that doesn't cycle. They're also reinforced to handle launching grenades and thus weigh more for no real benefit. M59s are Yugo variants that lack the grenade shit and they're fucking excellent guns but also cost more and are harder to find.

There's also the chrome-lining issue but IMO that's not that big a deal.

Are you saying you're willing to buy it off me?
>>
>>33071144
>buttstock pouch
Get a $10 Chink battle bra
>>
>>33071413
No thanks I already have two, but if those are your prices I'll take that 1k of GT off you for $250
>>
>>33071512
I've actually got 2k in storage.
>>
>>33071144
>https://www.strikehardgear.com/sks-buttstock-pouch/

I have that exact one, doesn't really fit the theme if you're going for Slavshit but it's a fucking excellent pouch. I feel great having three clips ready to go.

But I just like keeping ammo on my rifle in general.
>>
>>33071185
Where are you located sks-anon?
>>
>>33071553
South Carolina.
>>
>>33071553
>>33071568
I'll toss in a little over another thousand rounds of ammo (mostly GT with 150 or so Privi SPs) for another $225.
>>
>>33071130
>SKS

why? get an AR:

http://www.brownells.com/firearms/rifles/semi-auto/oem-mid-length-16-rifle-w-25-gift-card-prod81838.aspx

x39 stock is drying up and will enver be cheap again. and the AR is a better rifle.
>>
>>33071596
>x39 stock is drying up and will enver be cheap again.

What stock? It's all new production. We don't get surplus in the US.
>>
>>33071609
I'm seeing 30+ year of spam cans still.
>>
>>33071624
Yeah, that sell for way too much because it's "banned armor piercing bullets!!!!"
>>
>>33071596
I own an AR already.
>>
>>33071638
does it matress? fact is, 223-556 is about as cheap as x39 and usually better quality these days.
>>
Where the Hell do you guys have that Sks Bullshit from?
The Name of the gun is SWT-40
>>
>>33071645
well than get another one? or get a good optic for it. unless you want the SKS for collection purposes, the SKS is pointless.
>>
>>33071660
I already have an ar and an optic for it. I want the SKS because I am a poorfag student right now and want something that shoots 7.62x39 and for collection
>>
>>33071686
>poorfag

sorry, that doesn't compute. an AK or VZ58 would be a better choice. if you want to collect that's fine.
>>
Speaking of skses, I damaged the finish on my Tula pretty good on my Tula, down to the wood. Do I need anything other than amber shellac to touch it up?
>>
>>33071130
Where get that exact mount
>>
>>33071130
MFW I bought a Russian SKS in 1989 for $60.00
>>
>>33071586

Not that guy but I get my GT from SGAmmo
>Same price as Wolf
>mfw

>>33072060
I'm offering what I paid for it before shipping because you're going to have to pay for shipping yourself.

My last purchase came out to be something like $0.265/round
>>
>>33071822
Yeah, but back then for that kind of money you could have bought a used car.

Everybody fucking says that kinda shit, inflation...

OP any sks in good condition is a good sks. Paratrooper is the way to go if possible though.

Honestly I think the sks is the best all around survival/battle rifle.
Stripper clips are just where it's at.
>you can carry tons of them,
>load quicker than magazines if you're good at it
>weigh a fraction of a magazine
>once AR boys 4 mags run out he's fucked
