>China's military progress challenges Western dominance, says IISS

>Chinese military technology is reaching "near-parity" with the West, a new report from the London-based think tank IISS has found. Western dominance in advanced military systems can no longer be taken for granted.

It's official. The fiddies were right all along.

What now.

>China's air force had introduced a "highly capable" short-range missile in a class only a handful of leading aerospace nations had been able to develop, it added.

>Additionally, China's long range air-to-air missile seen on exercise last year posed a risk for aircraft tankers and AWACS surveillance aircraft that previously loitered safe out of range

When you build military bases surrounding them and conduct constant nuclear tests not far from them of course they will respond.

I bet the one most butthurt about that development shouldnt be the Burgers, but the Japs , who are still wallowing in their obsolete notions of racial superiority over the Chinese.
The more China progresses, the closer the Day of the Rope comes for them.
Same applies to the so-called 'Taiwanese' , who derive their self-esteem from being weeaboos and claiming descendants to the supposed superior Japanese Masters.

Keep it comin, China. Every day is a day less for the ancient archenemy.

http://www.janes.com/article/67930/idex-2017-chinese-navy-to-acquire-new-trimaran-hull-frigate

>IDEX 2017: Chinese Navy to acquire new trimaran hull frigate

>The China Shipbuilding Trading Corporation (CSSC) has revealed a new trimaran-hulled frigate concept at the IDEX show held in Abu Dhabi, telling Jane's that a version was being built for China's People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN).

>The specifications provided by CSSC for the trimaran vessel state that it displaces 2,450 tonnes, has a length of 142 m, a width of 32.6 m, a cruising speed of 25 kt, and an endurance of 30 days. A CSSC official added that its top speed is between 30-35 kt and that it has a crew of more than 100.

>CSSC officials said the vessel uses diesel engines that power a "marine electric propulsion system" that in turn drive three pump jets. It does not have a secondary propeller propulsion system.

>Although lighter than China's Type 054A frigate, the trimaran carries a similar armament of one 76 mm main gun, vertical launch tubes for 16 or 32 missiles, eight anti-ship missile launchers, two close-in weapon systems, and hangar space for two helicopters.

Oh gee, long-standing US deployments to the North-East of China, better build a bunch of militarised islands in disputed waters to antagonise otherwise neutral countries to the South into becoming closer to America. If PRC wants to act like a victim, it would be more convincing if it weren't intimidating its neighbours who aren't explicit US allies.

>.conduct constant nuclear tests not far from them

Ah that explains it, you're retarded. Last US nuclear test was 1992, and the last one in the Pacific was decades before that.
>>
>>33072437
>Ah that explains it, you're retarded. Last US nuclear test was 1992
but you haven't left that area though have you, in-fact you've constructed more military basses around there in ongoing 'tests' of the previous results.

Maybe i explained it wrong, not nuclear blasts but testing the nuclear results from the previous blasts. So still a militarized presence.

Well, the LCS itself isn't a bad concept and arguably the Chinese need littoral ships more than the US due to that submarine threat the Japanese pose.

The key is just that the '50 knots max speed and aluminium hull, as well as the 'mission modules' were a bad idea that left the ship underarmed and breakdown prone.

The Chinese equivalent seems to be a much less ambitious concept, which would actually make it viable.

The Chinese navy has just admitted to active service yesterday morning 83 Qi Ji Guang, class 927 , at the Lüshunkou naval base in northern China, In the presence of Vice Admiral TIAN Zhong, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Chinese Navy.

The training vessel, which is 163 meters long and 22 meters wide and moves more than 9,000 tons full loads, will be attached directly to the Dalian Naval Academy. It is the first ship of Type 927 and will be used not only to train Chinese naval officers and foreign students, but will also serve in missions of diplomatic visit, evacuation of Chinese nationals and humanitarian rescue.

Yes it took decades until they could produce steel as high grade as those used in ball pen points, but now they have it and now they also can make high quality ball bearings as well, ending another reliance that they had with importing from Germany or Japan.

Metallurgy and material science is one of the tightest guarded industrial secrets and now they have it.

Just as high strength Carbon fibers that they weren't allowed to import. They have those too.
