Just bought my first scary non-black rifle. She needs a little help, relating to whatever the hell screw into the stock (besides swivels), anyone here who can assist me?
Seems like you have it stuck on the roof, OP. I'd get it down from there before you try anything.

Buy some stock swivels, screw them into the stock. Buy a sling you like, attach to swivels. Wallah.
Just ask the fucking question
Well 4chan won't let me delete the upside down post, so screw it

Do you mean "voila", or are you Indian?
dafuq goes in hole #2?

It's a dressing in my eyes.

I should have taken your post with a grain assault.
And the inside of the stock is finished in some kind of clearish epoxy, and the barell does not have a hole for any screws, maybe an attempt to free-float with the stock pressing on just a single pillar?
IDK, bought used. Big ass Vortex fits snug however.
Mind you the barrel is loose and obviously free floated, but too much. I assume this third hole has something to do with this

Sweet, the model 70 image I pulled up was newer without that screw, can you link me where you got that image so I can buy them?
>1972 model
all the iterations make life hell, THANKS!
>>33067679
Although, my barrel has no flat spot?
>>33067716
Google images under the carefully thought of topic "Winchester model 70". I'm going to save you some trouble, type "Winchester model 70 Numrich" and click Google search.
>>33067749
Does it just sit on the barrel?
>>33067800
Probably a new barrelled action in an old stock then
>>33067800
You'll note how the forend stud has a parabolic shape to it so that the round barrel rests on it flush.
>>33067803
>barrel screw
Okay, serial comes back to a 1972 model, which on Numrich showed no barrel screw. I assume the stock is older then...
Any ideas on year? Checkering appears hand done, but if some guy just threw the parts on to sell it that would explain the lack of barrel screw and sling studs.
>>33067828
There is no evidence of any rub marks there. I'd assume bubba could have tried to free-float in decades ago.
>>33067857
It's usually recessed into the stock depending on how tight you tighten the screw. So most times it may never even touch the barrel.
>>33067899
Thanks, I'll assume bubba probably swapped this stock out in the '70s for another and took the hardware with him. Regardless, now that I know what to order off Numrich I'm set, probably an earlier stock but its pristine so all the better.
Thanks anons. Look forward to seeing what this can do with my new Vortex 4-16x.

Anon, I still can't find the pre-64 numrich page, can you drop a link for a retard please?

one hole the one furthest forward is for a bi-pod, the one closer in is for a sling swivel, why its so back i dont know, but i use a bi-pod that allows a sling to be attached to the pod, hope this helps
>>33068154
looked at diagram, yeah sorry winchesters, thats for a screw and some type of block for the barrel to set on for support?
>>33067479
Ditch the bipod. It'll just make the gun jump. Learn to grip your fore end.
>>33068168
The forend nut is to screw a swivel into so you're not screwing it into just wood in the thinnest part of the stock.
>>33068168
Yeah that is what I assumed buying it but once I took it apart i was dumbfounded. Prob will still set it up that way once I get the original hardware.
>>33068180
Was literally just sitting on the bipod for pics. Only SAW and LAWs get bipods and drums
