I am itching to get a nice 22lr. Decided on an Anschutz.
Torn between blowing the load on a 1727 F AV HB or getting a more reasonably priced 1416 AV.
Either way, 18" threaded barrel.
Anyone have experience with either?
I know the 1416 is based on the lighter, potentially less accurate 64 action, and the 1727 is the fortner biathlon style action and a slightly heavier profile barrel.
How stupid am I to be considering spending $3500 for a rimfire rifle?
Would any mere mortal be able to discern any accuracy difference when not shooting from a bench?

Get a 10/22 instead

If you shoot competition 22 LR, then it would not be excessive if you can afford it. I could not justify it to myself for any other reason unless I was obscenely rich. A nice rifle is a nice rifle though.

I have a few 10/22s. Mostly use them as loaners or tinkering projects.
Maybe you missed the part about wanting a "nice" 22lr.

Not a regular competition shooter, and certainly not obscenely rich. Don't and won't have any kids to support, though, so it's not like I'd be putting it on a CC and floating a balance.
I guess I'm just trying to decide which one I'd regret less. Having spent a huge amount for what is still just a 22lr, or spending a smaller, but still significant chunk and kicking myself for not going all out.
I have a 1416 D HB
It's fucking noice if you have the money for it.
I still enjoy using my Winchester Wildcat/TOZ-78 more, it's a much more fun rifle desu (especially with how cheap it was) but I could definitely recommend the 1416.

You might be retarded

Not stupid, it's nice to have nice things. Consider finding one used though?
That way you're not looking at devaluation if you realize it's not for you and want to free up the money you put into it. Chances are, any previous owner that bought a rifle like that new has babied it anyways.

The problem is that I specifically want the 18" factory threaded barrel.
I don't know how long they've been available in any model, but I have been looking for a used 1416 or 1727 with the threaded barrel for a while with no luck whatsoever.
