Glocks are for people that don't like handguns. I just think it's strange to spend however much that thing cost and then use ammo that wears your barrel faster. I only use steel case on my rock island stuff.

I won't deny steel case is harder on any firearm but by the time I fire enough rounds to notice a difference I'll gladly buy a new barrel or a new gun for that matter. If I don't shoot at least one pistol right through to its service life in my lifetime I can't say that I even owned firearms for a good reason. Most anons here will have several firearms and will put less than 1,000 through them before they die.
tl;dr

those px4s are nice. I like my x300u but it might stick out a lot on the px4 and look dumb so. You ever have malfunctions with that weapon? Some people complain about ftf fte for some reason. Not sure if they just don't know how to clean it or operate it or what.

No issues here. I plan on shooting it again soon when I get my AR street legal (Califag here). I put one of Beretta's steel +P+ guide rods in so I'll be curious to see how it functions with normal pressure ammo (I still have the stock one laying around here somewhere in case it shits the bed).

Those surefire's are a little expensive for my tastes. I was looking at the streamlight TLR-1 HL.

functionally nothing, just more plasticky bits all around.
>>
>>33064089
It upgraded the 92FS design with stuff like a dovetailed front sight and a captured recoil spring, along with an interchangeable grip size via polymer wraparound grip. After a few years, they took those upgrades and put out the 92A1, which is essentially a 92FS with the 90two upgrades.

Vertec grips are nice, but I prefer the old style. I bought the M9A3 for the versatility, the night sights, the FDE, the threaded barrel from the factory, extended mag release, 3-slot rail, and the potential for G conversion back when we weren't sure how the conversion would work.

Inox with wood grips, or Bruniton with polymer. I understand that some of the older 80 series have a very nice gloss blue finish as well that sets of the wood nicely, but I have never seen that in person.

It'd be the same as a Vertec model. The M9A3 frame is based on them. One interesting result is that the -A1 models will automatically return the take down lever when the slide is slipped back on, but the -A3 will not.

Question to whoever might be a Beretta gunsmith out there:

I got an old 92fs that had a slightly crooked barrel that rubbed a little on the slide.

What exactly causes this? Swapping locking blocks didn't make a difference, and neither did swapping barrels with my other 92.

I had a random junk barrel that I got from a friend, and I managed to get it to sit centered by fitting it at the breech face. Is this the proper method? I haven't shot it though because the barrel is trashed, and I'm pretty sure doesn't meet headspacing requirements after my haphazard fitting

I'll post some pics here and you can decide. They aren't pretty, but the internals (on mine anyway) are sharp edged and very lightly worn. The feed ramp still looks very fresh and the slide rails only have the surfaces slightly worn through. Slide to frame for is excellent with no slop and Rifling is still crisp in the barrel. Sights suck and from what I've seen online it's hard to find aftermarket grips which is a shame since the stock ones are kind of slippery.

All that aside, it seems the Italian Police shot these very little and just carried them a bunch. For $250 (it's gone up a bit since I bought one 2 weeks ago) it's a solid deal.

Slide wear looks very minimal on the inside, outside is beat up just because it was a service pistol. I'd say it's only a little more worn than my other 92 which has maybe 1.5k rounds through it.

There is a little bit more wear on the left inner barrel slot on the frame (the slot the barrel rides in) and I'm guessing this is due to the barrel being off center to the right.

The way the metal magazines slides in and out is unimaginably satisfying. Makes the Glock 19 feel like a used 42 year old street whore who has taken 3 dicks and a foam pool straw in it's cunt at the same time.

Only complaint is if you manually rack the slide and release from anything but the maximum extension it will not always feed all the way and requires a tiny bump. It seems to be getting better the more I fiddle with it through.

Interesting. It is not staked in place.
>>33066723
It depends on how old it is. The very earliest 96 guns had straight dust covers, but Beretta found that the .40 needed a stronger frame. This is the genesis of the slanted dust cover. After a while Beretta started using slanted dust covers across the 90 series. The .40 guns have a slightly wider feed ramp on the frame as well. Interestingly, the slides are identical been calibers, as are the recoil springs. The only parts you need to change to convert from .40 to 9mm are a standard 92 barrel and an extractor. Well, a 96 extractor will run fine, but you get some odd ejection.

I'm assuming you're talking about the frame buffer. It's just a little piece of aluminum. No actual data on whether it actually does increase service life, but it couldn't hurt.

>>
>>33065253
Most commemorative items don't hold any special value.
It's rare to see a commemorative version of a gun sell for more than the regular one, and that's if they even sell.

What few exceptions I can think off are any Ruger made in 1977, which are exactly the same as any other Ruger of the era, except they have a rather low key and unobtrustive stamping celebrating the American bicentennial, either the gun will have typical market value, or maybe someone will think that's nice and be willing to spend a couple of extra dollars on it.
>>
>>33070400
I do have to adjust my grip to push it properly. I'll be replacing the standard mag release on my FS with an extended steel one in a few days.
>>
>>33070147

>>
I have a decade old M9A1 but I've always wanted to get a 92 without a rail, maybe a brigadier, then have Wilson combat chop and recrown the barrel like a Centurion model. Except I fucking hate the slanted dust covers. Is it true they're making only slanted dust covers now? Do I need to buy a 92 with a straight dust cover before they disappear?
>>
>>33070535
The centurion basically had a compact slide on a full-size frame. If you just want a flush barrel, then you can buy a 4.7 inch from all kinds of vendors, often cheaper than getting a 4.9 cut.
>>

They sell drop in levers now but its up to you. I wouldn't have minded the safety on my wilson because you can always just have the safety off while carrying. It is slightly "safer" in that you'll never try to engage a target with the safety on though.
>>
>>33075375
In most cases no, unless they request an officer. the guy reporting it stolen could say "I just realized my firearm missing from my car. I can't recall where or when it was stolen". All they can do is write the serial number, make and model down. So next time a officer runs the number, it will come up as stolen. I speak from personal experience, angry family member borrowed my 22lr and reported it stolen. Gave it back and had to go to court when I was found in possession of stolen property. Provided proof of ownership in court, got dismissed. Big inconvenience if someone wants to be a dick.

If you were looking to accessorize your Beretta, you really shouldn't have bought a 92S.

That said, iron sights have to be pretty tall (about 1/2'') to peak over a suppressor and would require some gunsmith skills to install them. .

If I were you, I'd learn to just use the suppressor as is without using the sights. If that's a no-go for you, then I'd try to get my hands on scope mount like the one from Aimtech and finding a red dot for it. The cool thing about the scope mount is that you'd be able to see over pretty much any suppressor you could install on your gun.

If you don't like either of those options, then just trade the gun in for a newer 92 model with dovetail sights.

Unless you have sausage fingers or you're one of those goons that have learned to powerstroke everything, there's really no point to G conversion.

People that actually put effort in learning how to use the pistol will never have to worry about accidentally tripping the safety lever down.

Someone might have dropped the slide and it landed wrong. If you have access to some precision granite, inspect the slide. you can trig it out from the locking blocks to see how much deflection you have, it sounds like your slide or frame rails are fucked.

Except that you're wrong. You should always decock a DA/SA pistol when coming off target just like you put the safety back on a 1911 when coming back to a low ready.

Yes, this means you have to actually shoot DA as your first shot in every string of fire.

Which is why accomplished shooters that shoot Berettas such as Bill Wilson, Ernest Langdon, Ben Stoeger, Ken Hackathorne and Dave Harrington all shoot G converted M9's and all prefer G variants over the standard F, right?

Dry fire is a legitimately useful tool, there is no shame in doing it. Every high level shooter dryfires regardless of having the ability to shoot 1,000 rounds a week or not.

Ben Stoeger reported that he did dryfire practice every day for at least 30 minutes.

Doesn't really matter what professional target shooters do with their raceguns since most people that own, shoot, and carry pistols don't operate like that.

The bottom line is that the G conversion doesn't offer any kind of real benefit to those that put the time in to train with the gun. So far the only excuse I heard from you is one based on laziness and not wanting to flip the safety back up.

There are a few people on here with 92S and they seem fairly satisfied for the most part.

Common complaints are that they're not readily accessorized as newer models are. But if you're in need of a cheap full-size 9mm handgun and don't mind that it's used, or maybe you're just a Beretta fanboi, the a trade-in 92S is a decent pick.

Cancer like there's actually an obscene amount of grammar errors, like I didn't know published books could have this many grammar errors, double ands ('and and') and 'and the and' and just ridiculous typos. And then theres sentences like "I raised my pistol and fired once, the 762 slug impacted his head" (even though 762 will never be fired out of a pistol let alone Sam's 5.7), and a part where an airforce pilot hands Sam a 92F so he can take it on a mission. A modern pilot just handing over a weapon and not needing accountability I can deal with but he wouldn't be carrying a 92F OR 92FS, more likely an M fucking 9. And I only got into the first 150 pages anon. Plus Sam doesn't know languages in this book that he knew in the previous two and the first two were written in 1st person and the rest not, its just all fucked up.

5" @ 25 yards is still in spec. On the larger side, but still normal.

You can swap barrels to see if it improves, but you may as well get a match barrel fitted at this point.... which will still be slightly offset on your pistol.

>>33081948
Yes. G versions replace the safety with a decocker, and there are several "special" editions that have a frame-mounted safety.
>>
>>33082072
>may as well get a match barrel fitted at this point.... which will still be slightly offset on your pistol

Why is that?

I emailed Jarvis Inc which does a lot of beretta work, and the guy says they absolutely make sure the barrel is centered when they fit a new barrel, because off-center barrels will wear the frame unevenly and thus cause erratic accuracy problems. And if it's really bad and rubbing against the front hood of the slide accuracy just goes to shit.

And I don't think 5" groups at 25 yds is acceptable for a 9mm pistol with almost a 5" barrel.
