is the full size usp best to get in .40 for the .357 sig and 10mm conversions, or are the boutique rounds not worth it.

They really aren't.

9mm will shoot like a dream in the USP. Soft and very little recoil. Personally I would buy the 9mm myself but some people are more privy to the .45 because it's more iconic and it still shoots fairly soft despite being a .45
A lot of people will shit on HK, but goddamn do they make quality firearms that just can not be beat.

>It's just a good, solid, duty pistol.
All memes aside there's very little negative to be said about the function and durability of the USP.
The only bad things I can think about related to function are that some have said they don't like Hornady critical defense/duty because they are loaded long on overall length, and older model USP firing pins were known to break which is why HK updated the firing pin design.
On a related note my 22 year old USP 45 broke it's firing pin this last Saturday.
I think I'll update it to the new style now and this summer I'll get a new USP 45 for carry/defense and retire this one to the range.

Used to have one, military buddy gave it to me. He was in the seals, or delta or something, never really knew exactly because it seemed to be some real secret squirrel shit and whenever I asked him the answer changed. He never said anything when I questioned him about his time in the service. He'd always change the subject, blow me off or just stay quiet until I lost interest and changed the subject myself. Never really thought very much about it, what he did was his business and I respected it. From the ends and odds of what he did let out that I'd gathered he was a top notch soldier. Never knew why, never knew how... Only knew whatever he did, whoever he worked for was very proud to have him.

I was sitting at home one night checking my emails and I noticed one that seemed out of place. The sender's address was a random series of letters and numbers and there was a file attached. Normally I'd just delete this thinking it was a virus, but something deep down inside me irked at the thought and I clicked it and downloaded the file. It was a video file titled "help.avi"

I hesitantly opened the file and my jaw dropped. On the screen was my buddy. He was on the floor in a dark place bleeding from the face. Whispering he told me that he had been captured by ISIS. He told me his relative location, the location of his contacts and the location of his trusted HKâ„¢ USP-45â„¢. After roughly twenty seconds of video, it abruptly ended. I stopped to gather my thoughts and catch my breath. I knew I had to save my friend, so I made off to get his precious weapon and be briefed by his contacts.
>>
>>33066033
Fast forward three days. I'm hovering in a chopper over western Syria with a parachute and an HKâ„¢ USPâ„¢ with magazines of .460 Rowland. The pilot gives me the go and I jump from 120,000 feet (a height that an HKâ„¢ can operate in dispute the temperature and lack of oxygen) almost instantly I'm notified that ISIS has locked onto me and had fired long range surface to air missiles. I ready my USPâ„¢ and take out three missiles from over the horizon in three shots, never doubting my aim thanks to the unparalleled accuracy of the HKâ„¢ pistol.

I open my parachute and begin gliding towards the target compound. I take out seventy-three insurgents with half a mag and land on the roof of the compound. I enter the roof access and turn the hall. I instantly recognize my buddy on the other end of a room filled with ISIS troops, no less than ninety of them. He's got a bag on his head and a gun pressed to his ear. All of the insurgents are screaming at me in Bosnian or something and pointing their guns at me.

I let a single round off and thanks to the patented Polygonalâ„¢ Riflingâ„¢ offered by HKâ„¢ the bullet rips the atmosphere tearing every one of the insurgents up due to the minimal jacket impression and increased velocity of the barrel. My buddy escaped harm, because he heard the crisp and audible reset offered by the USPâ„¢ Matchâ„¢ Triggerâ„¢ Packageâ„¢ of my previous shot from the roof and braced himself for the following shot.

I walked across the room, wading in human remains and untied my buddy and he looked at me through blood streaming down his face. A single word left his mouth between his battered breathing... "Thanks."

"Don't thank me." I replied. "Thank HKâ„¢."

HKâ„¢: No compromiseâ„¢

That's a good question, I heard that the group that handles the seal's armory didn't want them taking the mark 23s out anymore but some of the guys were anyway.
So they cut them off 45 ammo and dudes in Afghanistan were paying for their own ammunition because they felt the mark 23 was better in the sand than the p226.
Of course this is all hear-say so take it with a grain of salt.
My gut feeling is that they have them stored somewhere but no one uses them.
>>
>>33069000
In a thread about SEALs last year a few anons said they all used glock 19s now. When I asked about the HK45ct (Mk 24) I was attacked with misinformation about 45 performance. I personally think some SEALs use them, they can't all hate handguns enough to use glocks. I'd trust my life to a Mk 23 or even a USP in far more situations than I would a glock.

Just shoot it in single action.

I have a USP which has a similar 'meh' trigger.

I bought the enhanced nickel plated sear spring and a heavy trigger return spring from HKparts.net. Then I put a snap cap in and dry fired the gun like 300-500 times in double action.

Helped the trigger immensely. Both parts are available for the P30 I think.

There are light trigger return springs too, but I went with the heavy because it gives a better reset and a little heavier break.

Also helpful is an adjustable trigger that you can set the overtravel to whatever you want.

Doing the above really transformed my USP, and it was only about 50 freedom dollars. The install was somewhat tedious, but there are plenty of youtube vids out.

Far from it.
They were over engineered (not too a terrible degree) and advanced for their time when they hit the markets.
Even today I would argue that they're still ahead of their time, otherwise you'd see the simple things that make them so great on other pistols and their prices lowered.
Such as
>unnecessary weight machined out in slide
>nylon bushings and o-rings (both somewhat negligible)
>steel sights
>ambidextrous and large (but not too large) controls
>aggressive sandpaper-like grip
>manual safety
>decocker
A lot of simple shit that I'm surprised that no other gun companies have capitalized on as well.

if you think DA/SA guns are outdated, then yes.

if not, it's one of the best you can buy in that category.

Also, if you want a consistent trigger pull and no external safety/decocker you can easily convert it to LEM and remove the safety lever. Depending on what spring you buy, your trigger pull will be between 4.5-7.5lbs.

Some USPs out there will obviously have this setup already installed (Variant 7 + LEM? I think?)

The USP compact is a very popular carry gun, known for being very tough and 100% reliable. It holds 13+1 9mm and 10 .45acp.

If you want to carry subcompact, you have the P2000SK which is basically just an upgraded version of the USP. Great guns in stock form, but they don't have nearly the same aftermarket support as the USP, whether from HK or third parties.
