that's what i did. I really like the carry handle look and since I can pull it off and put an optic I feel like it's a good compromise. I do want to do a build on an upper with an integral carry handle rear sight, but i'm content for now.

Gonna do this too anon, PSA offers a carry handle that's mountable to a rail, I like the aesthetics of the carry handle but want the ability to switch to an optic if I want to.

I built this one, mil-spec, Mega lower, Moly barrel, Magpul magazines. Works great.
