Just got a uberti replica of the colt walker. Gonna take er out tomorrow.
Any of you guys got any new stuff ya wanna show off?
>>33040631
Walker is best BP revolver.
>>33040631
That looks really sweet. I'd love to get into nice replica black powder guns, but black powder is banned at all the ranges near me.
Here's my most recent acquisitions. Got the rifle around New Years. Just got the sights last week. They both work really well.
>>33040631
Got it yesterday, taking it to the range in a couple of days.
>"I know what you're thinking: did he fire ten shots, or only nine?"
>>33040809
Some guy was in there actually finger fuckin it and talkin out his ass about conversion cylenders that let you fire .357 mag.
(.45 long colt actually, and only black powder or low pressure cowboy action ammo)
You know the type, guys who talk a lot but dont buy nothin. I asked if I could hold it, mouthy customer handed ot to me, then acted like I had decided to buy it right there on the spot. (Ive really been budgeting 8 months for it)
Paid cash, literally bought it right out this fudd's hands. He got pissed that I bought a gun he had been handling but the shop owner was like "paying customers take precadent sir."
It was soooo worth it, its nice to feel like a bigshot.
>>33041010
Fucking nice. People who hang out at gun store counters and spew bullshit are the worst and deserve to have their days ruined.
>>33041086
Jesus, we cringe every time one of those fuckers starts walking up to the door. I don't want to hear about the mallard with the 6 foot wingspan that you shot with your HR single shot 20 gauge for the 15th time buddy.
>>33040631
Its worth paying a gunsmith to put a latch on the lever, like the Colt Dragoon has
You'll get real fucking tired of the lever real quick.
Uberti will probably sell you the parts too make the Walker enjoyable. The latch, and maybe a lever for a dragoon.
Fun fact- the Colt Walker is to this day the most powerful standard issue pistol used by the US Army.
>>33041476
>Fun fact- the Colt Walker is to this day the most powerful standard issue pistol used by the US Army.
Trump needs to do something about this - issue .460 Rowland conversions for the M17!
>>33040631
Model 29, just got it today
>>33042075
Very nice. The Model 29 is one of the few revolvers I actually like.
>>33042114
Thanks anon. I've been wanting a wheelgun for a while, and after a bunch of research the 29 seemed to be one of the better picks.
>>33040631
got a lee enfield no4 mk2. need to do a clean but overall it looks in great condition.
don't know if I should have it checked by a gun smith prior to firing.
>>33040631
Give us a range report with pics, mang.
got a previous gen savage 11 in 308 to go with my current gen in 223
>pic related
I got this East German Makarov last week
>still waiting for my Tikka's muzzle brake
>>33042156
>a bunch of research
Is that code for "watching every Dirty Harry movie"?
Just kidding; the 29 is a great, great gun that you'll either love to bits and take up reloading to keep fed or remorsefully sell after shooting 3-4 rounds and deciding it's not for you.
>>33042448
never actually seen Dirty Harry desu
>tfw local indoor range allows black powder
>tfw the ventilation system is mediocre at best
Who.the fuck shoots BP indoors!
>>33042475
You should watch it, it's 10/10
>>33042475
The first two are really good; you're missing out.
>>33042512
Do it anyway. Trying to aim through a self-inflicted smokescreen is part of the BP experience.
>>33040631
>want to get a Walker
>research it for a while
>find the BFR
>want a BFR
I hate this hole
>>33041576
No need for .460 Rowland. Just insanely hot .45 ACP loads :)
>>33041476
Or just do what the texas rangers did and use a strip of leather.
>>33042794
>I hate this hole
But this hole was made for you. It's your hole.
>>33040631
I just got a Uberti SAA clone in .357 and I'm probably about to get rid of it.
I shot the first 100 or so rounds of .38 special at the range, went home and was doing some dry firing using snap caps. Noticed the cylinder was not locking up sometimes, started getting only 3 clicks from the hammer, then the cylinder quit locking up at all. Opened up the action and the trigger/bolt spring is this kinda flimsy two legged flat spring. Well the leg that puts upward tension on the locking bolt cracked and the snapped off. Bought an aftermarket piano wire replacement from Heinie and thought it fixed it. Then I was dry firing again and noticed that if you cock the hammer too quickly, the bolt fails to catch in the cylinder and the cylinder can still spin to the next notch.
So now I get to find out how good Uberti's warranty/customer service is.
>finish three hours of shooting at the range
>shoot with Russian friend, Dmitriy
>He shoots my AK, I shoot his
>A fucking original 1956 Tula, milled receiver
>Glorious
>Finish up
>Head back
>Remember Gouger Mountain is going out of business, thank fuck, those greedy bastards
>See a sign
>"STOREWIDE 25% OFF***
***except on firearms and ammo
FROM AMERICAS LARGEST FIREARMS AND AMMO SUPERSTORE"
>Fuck it, maybe they'll have some discounted Mountain House meals and camping stuff
>Go in
>WOW EVERYTHING IS DISCOUNTED TO NORMAL MSRP VALUE FUCK THIS PLACE
>See if there's any milsurp I can rescue
>See a really cool WWI trench gun 1894 whateverthefuck for $800
>nope.jpg
>See an old H&R Topper one shot shotgun for $170
>Not bad, seen those go for way more and the way it's finish is worn looks so cool
>overpriced everythi-
>See a Heritage Rough Rider
>$100
>wot
>Brand new
>Wanted one for 4 years but never could justify it for $200
>buy it immediately
>Go shoot it
>dead on accuracy
>fucking love clicking the hammer back
>the wheelgun bug has bitten me
>halp
I think I've fingerfucked it and drawn the hammer back at least a thousand times today. That sound, guys. Hnnnnng. "C-O-L-T". I am addicted to those four clicks.
I'll probably buy another wheelgun in a few months. What should I get?
>>33043100
Not a Uberti
>>33042960
>>33041010
Fuck yeah. You rule.
Keep doing God's work.
>>33043157
Lmao, noted
>>33043157
Most guns are Uberti but the extra QC and polish is Cimarron or Taylor's and Co
>>33043100
>200
>for a rough rider
>170
>For a single shot shotgun
You are really not looking right
>>33040631
Damn son, stop making me want to buy things.
Got any other old school black powder replicas? Might want to start collecting em.
>>33042574
>the first two are really good
Agreed, but Sudden Impact at least deserves a watch; The Dead Pool, not so much
>>33043393
No where did I say I spent $200 on a Heritage or $170 for the single shot, did I?
But I did buy the revolver for $100. Sounds about right to me, you stupid fuck.
>>33043378
My Uberti is a Taylor. That's why I'm so let down that it turned out to be shit. And it's not just the cylinder lock up problems, the action screws are always backing out too.
Maybe my expectations are too high. I've just never gotten a bad gun before and I've owned Tauruses (Tauri?).
Shit sucks senpai
>>33043691
They're all worth at least one watch. The Enforcer is probably the weakest of the lot, but even it has its moments.
>>33040631
Coincidentally, I got the same revolver about a year ago. I haven't been able to take it out to fire yet for lack of time or money but I hope the opportunity comes up soon. A little word of warning though, the rear 2 screws for the trigger guard like to unscrew themselves so pay attention to them.
>>33043741
The thing about uberti is that they do 100% accurate reproductions, including most of the faults and problems the originals had that werent immiediate saftey issues.
A lot of old guns like the walker werent actually all THAT great, they just happened to be the only thing on the market.....
>>33042794
I want one as well. Given the money and oppertunity I would probably get it worked over to look like a Ranger Sequoia.
I just got this nice vz 24, could anyone help identify when it was made and where?
Getting my space cowboy gun soon.
Also picked up a 6" 28-2 as my first wheelgun and I can't stop fingerfucking and staring at it, help.
>>33045400
>I can't stop fingerfucking and staring at it, help
It's too late, there's no turning back now.
>>33044056
> Falling through a skylight into a porn shoot.
True, anon.
Just got this
>>33044887
>when it was made and where?
Made by CZ in Brno, accepted by the Czechoslovak Army in 1931.
>>33047469
thanks annon. I have another question. I was able to remove the bolt to get a good look at the bore but now i cant get the damned thing back in. the safety lever refuses to move and when i depress the pin along the bolt nothing happens. any advice?
Going to gun show today. What get?
Going to be looking at hand guns and various rifles. Was going to get something like an AR15 a while back but was out of state and didn't have a copy of my orders. Not the case this time.
>>33049237
Is the bolt still cocked? The cocking piece has to be most of the way out of the bolt shroud for the safety to rotate in front of it and lock it in place.

>>33040631
I'm considering a Pietta Colt 1860, seriously need a BP revolver in my collection.
I got this NHM90 last week.
>>33041001
Good choice, I have been looking for an Energy Star certified gun myself
>>33049741
I have been trying that be no matter what i do it wont work. I have been able to move the pin all the way in, to the point where it SHOULD decock. but im getting no luck with it. should i try anything else or just keep at it and hope it works? sidienote- i wasnt able to move the saftey when the bolt was in the rifle either, i think it may be damaged.
I ordered pic related but I heard it'll be like 2 weeks to build and ship.
>>33049694
What do you already have?
What do you want?
>>33050391
>to the point where it SHOULD decock.
According to your picture it IS de-cocked. You can't disassemble the M98 bolt unless it's cocked, with the safety in the second (12:00) position.
>>33051728
the issue im having is reassembling it. I cant get it into the rife properly. the bolt wont rotate into the rifle. Im able to get it in but it will stay straight up.
>>33051868
OK post a pic of the whole action at the point where the bolt gets stuck.
>p226 combat
>p239 .357sig
>colt mustang 380
>glock 17 w/ fulcrum trigger
ever since I got my permit I'm buying like crazy
>>33051902
here it is, looks like the rear is hitting the stock.
>>33042075
Noice
>>33050767
Where did you order it from? What did you pay? I've been thinking about building something similar
>>33051999
>looks like the rear is hitting the stock.
Because it's been de-cocked. Do one of these >>33049741 and the bolt will go in just fine.
>>33053254
ive been, ive completely depressed that pin but it wont slide like it does in the videos. Ill keep on trying but is it possible something else needs to be done?
>>33053254
never mind i got it, like a fucktard i thought it meant the pin next to it. Thanks for the help /kommandos
>>33054134
Rock on!
Scope for my PTR finally arrived, can't wait to sight it in. Next purchase is either 500 rounds of .308 or the sliding stock
>>33040631
Walkers are a heck of a lot of fun. It's been about a year since I last had a chance to shoot mine, though.
>>33054688
Yeah, I shot it today. I was gonna use 50 grain equiv pyrodex, but the shop didnt have any so I had to go with a full 60 grain load.
Jesus christ! This thing just fuckin roars. Most batshit insane black powder pistol ive ever fired.
>>33043741
First and foremost, you should have purchased the gun in-store if you could find it. That way you can visually inspect it. Second, as another anon stated they reproduce very accurate representations of period correct pieces. I believe the 1873 SAA that uberti makes is based off a 1st gen colt saa. The action screws will walk out. Just use blue loctite and the problem will be solved. There may be something wrong with your bolt. Just buy a replacement for it.
>>33050024
I had one. Better color case hardening than uberti, better fit grips, nicer walnut grips. The cone being that the internals are finished roughly, it's a cast frame as opposed to a forged frame, the grip angle is not historically correct and causes your point of aim to be higher than it ought to be. Some of the parts internally like the mainspring aren't finished to the best of my knowledge. And the worst thing about it is that billboard on the barrel. At least Uberti puts it under the loading lever.
>>33056900
Piettas are hit and miss. Sometimes they are better than aberti, sometimes theyre worse.
I favor uberti because of consistency, you buy a uberti you dont get suprises. I was looking at a pietta the other day, its fit was pretty terrible, grips didnt seem to fit the frame.
>>33057185
That's true. I think the same can be said for older ubertis.
>>33060043
Yeah, ubertis from the 80's especially were pretty hairy. They were not originally a gun company, they were making cowboy movie props and went "well, 1800's gun props are only a few holes and springs away from being real guns, why not just do that instead?"
When I was a kid I had one of their early dragoons, its was TERRIBLE but I shot the living shit out of it. They were cheap and you didnt have to feel bad doing stupid shit with em like fanning the hammer or spinning the cylender like a john wayne movie.
>>33060113
I bought my first pietta in 2015. I bought her because she was cheap and cabelas was offering accoutrements with her. After some time the gun failed on me internally. I was so turned off by pietta that I bought a uberti. I love their 1851 navy.
>>33060284
Yeah, they were selling this cap and ball starters kit with a pietta revolver, powder, caps, conical ball, and all the measures, cappers, cleaning rod etc etc in one package for 250 bucks.
Its dirt cheap, but considering that the package didnt even say what make or caliber the revolver was and that I could plainly see loose tolerances and shitty grip fit through the plastic I decided a $400 uberti walker and $100 for 200 balls, pyrodex, 100 caps, and some patches and bore lube was a safer bet.
The uberti will still be firing when whoever buys that pietta starter kit is having to replace it.
>>33060695
Also, just a note, stoegers, taylor, and cimaroon are all just IMPORTERS. Uberti (itself a subsidiary of beretta) is the manufacturer.
Ive heard people refer to all 3 as seperate manufacturers and compare quality, but all 3 come from the same factory and company.
>>33061221
Imagine Uberti being in charge of things not blowing up, everyone else polishes and QCs it but if you get a standard Uberti you can be assured that it won't blow and it'll be nicer than a pietta
>>33061784
It goes:
Beretta--->benelli--->uberti--->importers
The importers just add a finish and slap their brand name on it.
Stoegers is the only company that advertises them as ubertis, aside from a few minor aestetic differences like style of finish or engraving theyre all the same gun. Importers advertise theirs as higher quality but its all essentially the same.
Kind of like how tula, wolf, and bear are all the same ammo but imported under different companies.
>>33052618
Troy, 1,200.
>>33062512
Which is the lowest tier importer? I have my doubts about cimarron getting the best.
just confirmed that the 92FS brigadier I recently bought will be arriving tomorrow at the FFL down the street for me. So goddamned hype to get off of work.
>>33065740
>>33065740
The best is stoeger, uberti goes the extra mile because stoeger imports is the one that directly carries uberti's name on their product.
Uberti is best, others are just 2nd hand ubertis and can be hit and miss, sometimes much better, sometimes much worse.
The most important thing to know about the replica market is that quality varies wideley, as replica buyers often arent avid shooters so much as reenactors or trophy collectors.
Its important to handle replica guns before buying and carefully inspect them.
Its common practice in the replica industry to make cheap crap versions of legendary guns that sell on the merits of the original without actually contaning anywhere near that quality level.
In summary, when buying replicas dont buy off of brand name, handle and inspect it to see if its up to snuff first.
>>33062512
Tula Wolf and Bear are not the same ammo
Civil War 1851 Colt Navy and Modern Reproduction
>>33066536
Maybe im just repeating fuddlore on ammo then, but uberti gets sold under 3 or 4 names in the US nonetheless.
