Saloman GTX boots. They're comfy innamountains and I can walk all day with them. Also they don't really look like "combat" boots so they're relatively low profile.

People dont like change. Boots have had heels for a thousand years, so thats how we make them. Nevermind that a hundred years ago everything changed.

Boots have heels so you can stand up on horseback. Why they have them now is tradition and fuddlore more than anything else. Well unless your a line tech/lumberjack.
>>
>>33035949
basically this >>33035964

It also prevents slippage from foot pegs on motorcycles. It also prevents slippage from things in general. Locking the heal into an edge while while taking a ride on something or trying to keep balance is extremely useful. It has a lot of quality of life and safety applications. It has almost no use for the hipsters that just wear them to look cool.

Okay so far the most prominent reason ive heard for boots having a raised heel is that you can anchor your foot on something like the stirrup or motorcycle foot peg so wouldn't this kind of design do the same without having to have a raised heel?
>>
>>33036165
Uses more material up front. Not every one is looking for a zero drop boot.
>>
>>33036165
Modern boots usually have heels or wedge soles.

>>
>>33036106

>>
>>33036237
Shovels, ladders, walking down mountains/hills, rocks, stirrups, climbing spikes, jumping out of a plane, adds height, works good for those of us who aren't flat footed.
>>
>>33036237
>i'm a skater punk XD XD XD
>>
>>33036237
They're fine as long as the soles are decently flexible, if they aren't a some heel lift is a must. At least that's how it is for me, but it's a given there's no two people with the same feet and walking style so whatever works for you works for you mang
>>
>>33036263
>Shovels, ladders, stirrups, climbing spikes
I already acknowledged the need to "anchor" your foot to something.
>rocks, jumping out of a plane
Not sure how these are relevant.
>adds height
I'm not a manlet.
>flat footed
I do not have flat feet and i'm not quite sure how this is relevant.
>>
>>33036268
???
>>33036289
I guess that makes sense.
>>
>>33036291
You wanted purposes of a heel no? Also allows more sole in contact areas without having a solid wedge, so cost cutting and whatnot.
>>
>>33036092
By having a solid edge to dig into surfaces. Pressure = force/area.
>>
>>33036291
>>rocks, jumping out of a plane
>Not sure how these are relevant.
Then you never climbed on rocks on jumped out of planes. Its so you can get a secure grip with your feet on the edge that is between the cockpit and the canopy. So you don't slip and hit your head in the wing or something.

I've been working factory jobs for some monthes and needed good safety shoes so I got myself a pair of Magnum Lynx for 117 eurobucks. So far I'm happy with them.

>non metallic so pretty light for their size
>comfy so you can stand in them all day without ruining your feet
>can drive with them on no problem
>ok for walking but I didn't try them for long distances yet since I have my comfier, non safety GK Fields for that
>make me feel operator as fuck while lugging palets around
>durability seem ok so far but it's only been 4 monthes of actual factory work

People at factories tend to go for lighter safety sneakers because regular safety shoes are such a pain, but they seem like a trade off. Lighter but less protection.
>>
>>33036632
Hmmm they look pretty nice. I might get myself a pair.

Magnum Command 8.0

Their discontinued. Use them for work on my feet all day.

Ultra light and comfy but not particularly good quality. Last pair lasted 2-3 years still useable. Hit 2 years with this pair.

Not that great lifespan but I got them on closeout for $25/pair.

At least it gives you an idea of the general quality of conscription army gear, it's rarely the most aerodynamic shit but god damn I have to tip my hat to the folks who design and make shit that remains functional after decades of getting passed down from one bonehead conscript to another and see nothing but abuse
