I was recently doing an install in a home under construction and noticed one of the rooms had 1/2 inch thick ballistic panels in the walls. The door was a heavy automatic slider and the ventilation for the room was covered by thick steel grating. It was a safe room.
Didn't really know these existed and thought I'd share. I had always assumed a safe room would be like a concrete walled bunker. I'd guess this stuff was level III rated for handguns, seems like a rifle would pass right though. The material was either fiberglass or kevlar, resin infused.
Found a video with similar material being installed, looks nasty to cut, like fiberglass.

Entertaining myself thinking about all the ballistic panels I'll have in my house one day...

it's woven roving with fiberglass resin
Stops up to level 3

How about building houses from stone instead of papier-maché walls? Every room would be a safe room

Works good in South Russia. FSB never goes without grenade launchers and 30mm cannons to that neighborhoods.

One of >pic related would get through no problems. Might collapse the house and kill people inside, but hey!

Insulated Concrete Forms.
Pic related. My man cave under construction.

Why do Americans not use stone to build their houses? That stops bullets
>>33034067
meh, looks like something an 8 y/o autismo would build in minecraft

Brick and stone cost more to build a house with.
It's just cheaper to make them out of lumber and sheet rock.

Makes me think of a simple design for a above ground fortress in Dorf Fort.

No such thing, senpai.

I live in a 15 year old euro house. All my inner walls are brick.
I do start seeing more & more wood frame houses.

Any time I heard someone use the term "Man Cave", I immediately think of a treehouse complete with "No Girls Allowed" sign. I also think that the guy had to beg on his knees for his wife's permission to have that space.
Real men call their space a "workshop" or a "garage". It's where we go when we need to repair, maintain or build shit and I don't need anyone's goddamn permission to have it or to be out there.

Any time I hear

I immediately think of a bar in San Francisco.
Ballistic drywall, that's rich. It was probably a cheap solution for tornadoes chucking sticks through people. Putting bulletproof walls in your home is planning for failure.
>>33034078
clearly OP needs to line his walls with ar550 plate then
>>33035870
Actually, we call it the barn. My wife inherited some money and she gave me some of it to build that barn. She just asked to plant the landscaping, the rest was what ever I wanted.

Brick is useless for stopping bullets. It's brittle, and bullets tend to pass through it.
