Always bolt actions
have consistantly hit targets at 600 yards from prone, no bipod/rests
I like .223 for practice, cheap to shoot and thanks to AR fags I can get it everywhere.
next gun is a savage 11 308 to go with my savage 11 223
30-06 is also good, but AR fags made 308 common, so I'll give up the 120fps for cheaper shooting

half assed... our local range only goes to 200 yards but one of my coworkers has some land with an 800yard shooting lane...

Oh, and using a nikon prostaff that came with my rifle. good scope, nice and bright. 3-9x40 is good for shooting gophers. BDC reticle is off though, wish it came in a plain cross hair or that i'd stop being cheap and get a mil-dot, but as is. 223 shoots so flat I don't know why they bothered with a BDC

There are a few of us around, but rarely are there threads about it here. You're talking about a relatively expensive setup (compared to buying an SKS or Mosin and plinking), so that puts it puts it out of reach to many of the average /k/ommandos. We've had generals over the years but they always die out because there's not enough different posters. It gets boring talking about the same thing over and over again, I go SnipersHide and longrangehunting for actual discussion.

I regularily shoot out to 800m with my .308, and usually past a kilometer with my 6.5x284, both heavily customized Tikka T3s. I used Zeiss glass on both.
