They are tiered, however WoT is much, much worse for grinding compared to WT. Based on my experience, for War Thunder, most tanks are viable for a majority of tiers once you hit mid T2, which is maybe 2 days of gameplay or ~18 hours if you play well. Getting further up requires more time, as I have ~140 hours on the game and I only recently unlocked Tiger and Panther tanks, however that maybe took me 80 hours since I played a lot of other nations instead of being dedicated.

To counteract this, I have a "ban list" for WT which encompasses most of the tanks found outside of WW2, and some that simply wouldn't be a challenge to play against some of the kinds of tanks I'm expecting will be played.

For reference, I'm expecting most teams to field Pz. 4's and their equivalents, and some teams will have bigger and meaner tanks since they have residents who play WT already.

To not discourage anyone, the worst tank you'll probably play against will be IS-2, Tiger II and if anyone has a big WW2 TD (Jagdtiger, etc) then they should be checked for mental stability.

WT, up to ~6.3 is what will be fielded, aside from some tank destroyers that I'm considering throwing in, like the JagdTiger, Tortoise, T-95. I'm getting a more popular WT response than anything else right now, due to realism differences mostly.


The goal is to just have scrims right now between boards, and they don't have to be big tanks. A-la Girls-und-Panzer, not every team was fielding 100 Tiger 2s. Most had smaller tanks with one or two "good" tanks.

Board teams can be volunteer or whatever they want, that's why I'm going around and finding out interest first. I'm considering max 10 people teams with no minimum, custom battles in realistic mode probably.

This is partially why I'm choosing WT over WoT, also the grind in WoT makes it impossible for players to compete with aged players within a week or two. While WoT has better things in its own right, like variety, WT does a lot more better IMO.

So how do I get in on this? I have tier3-t4 tanks for Russia, 200 hours in-game from grinding other lines. I'm 23, in a serious clan that trains with each other regularly too, so I'm no scrub.

Right now I'm just looking around at other boards and getting responses, we had a few people on /pol/ say WT before the thread died, probably to "is x degenerate" or "is y white" threads.
