Well since he dubbed it as cosplay, im guessing its MSW, which is basically patrol base ops, so it probably has all his shit in it he needs for 3 days

so ya it sucks for maneuverability, but you gotta carry shit, and when you move PBs you gotta take it with you

For the curious that is an Eberlestock J79 Skycrane. It's not quite your traditional Rucksack. Full recommend it though if you can handle something unconventional.

Possibly this >>33025906
Eberlestock makes great dragbags and other shit for snipers.

If I wanted to sew a patch onto my softshell would I need to treat the stitches around the patch with something to retain the water shedding properties or would it not really have that much effect?

>>33025989
Because thats what everyone in conventional infantry does so...its just what everyone on /k/ does because /k/ is: either current and former military, larpers or noguns.

Also if you're in a situation where you're in the field no resupply for such extended periods of time. You live somewhere where you're living on the land.

Plus filling your pack past three days is ridiculously heavy.
>>

>>
>>33026050
>Plus filling your pack past three days is ridiculously heavy
A good point.

What does one typically carry in an assault pack? I can't think of much more I'd need other than what I can put on a plate carrier or a battle belt. I guess hydration bladder of course, an entrenchment tool and monoculars if you don't have space for all that on your rig. I guess they carry some snacks or MREs too.

Still a lot of these assault packs I'm seeing still seem kind of large for the amount of gear one would need if they're trying to keep light for assault missions.
>>
GOTM

what ifak
JPC
Airframe
Crye Combat Pants
>>
>>33026153
It depends on your mission and what your role is.

Here is the best way to think about it

Assault pack: Shit you need right now and on mission. For me it would be stuff like: Long range radio, extra mags, etc. Whatever you feel you need. If you need it for that mission just don't bring it.

Rucksack: Shit you need to survive: extra socks, clothes, sleeping bag, tent, jetboil stove, etc. I usually actually keep my bladder in my rucksack because that where I need it. Because if you're walking for hours on end with anywhere between 60-70 even 80 pounds on your back. You're going start sweating and need that water.

>>33025954 that malice pack has a large pouch on the left side for my bladder.
>>
>>33026213
What are some good assault pack options?
>>
>>33025847
You more or less have everything you need for long term ops, food for days, some extra dry clothing, tent, sleeping bag, misc.

Very normal for Norwegian forces, you also have a smaller patrol backpack attached under the rucksack, for smaller patrols around OP, or if you need to ditch the larger backpack but still wanna being essential gear.
>>
If you're just larping, you don't need a whole lot for 3 days.
I use an assault pack for msw, 25L I think? And it's plenty.
>>33025621

>>33026230
Honestly I don't know what good options are out there. I've owned two and I feel like mine has always been the best in comparison to my peers.

I'll tell you what to look for: Ventilation, claymore pocket (for gear that you need in an instant) and most essential is a solid backboard. Makes the load easier to carrier, keeps shit from stabbing you in the back.

If your seriously interested I can send you pictures/what not. I think 3 for $85 is fair if you pay for shipping. +3% or whatever if you dont wanna do F+F on paypal. They retail for 85$ a pair, I really love them and are gonna buy them again, just I lost some weight and now im like a 28 in the waist, so they dont fit.

They have an adustable strap so they do have a few inches of play each way, so if you IWB carry or something youll be fine.

Again I have 3 Pairs, (30W 30L), Mud, Green, Dark Gray). Worn each one maybe 2 times, but they clean up super well in the wash so they dont have any signs of wear. Super comfy, durable, light stretch to them, water repellent. My fav. outdoor pant for sure.

as for the Riggers belt I've rarely seen it used as a battle belt. its pretty specifically designed for rappelling and such.

I just hate how my Peltors fit under my ACH.

I have to sit in a Stryker for hours on end in the field, at this point my gear purchases are attributed mostly to weight saving, space saving and maximum comfort.

Go kick rocks dude! Stop saying that stuff is trash at mere glance. The plates that anon listed were made by Armor Design Inc, which was an Arizona armor company that just recently declared involuntary bankruptcy and had all of their assets liquidated. A lot of the assets were put on Fleabay for sale. Heads up: This also include incomplete plates i.e. without the Dyneema/ Aramid backers and trauma mitigating foam (do not buy since they are basically only the ceramic portion and will completely shatter if shot).

IMO I wouldn't get double stacked for a belt. Just get singles, and run them side by side. If you are getting kydex I'd probably say get two singles, just so it contours to your body better but if your doing cordura then it doesn't matter, but imo double stacked mag pouches don't work well on belts

Yea that sounds right I was thinking that the double stacked would be a bit bulky
>>
>>33031813
Nice.
How do the videos get better each time?
>>
>>33032140
If your only running a belt then obviously this would change, but a belt should be a back up. So for example, I keep two pistol mags on there and that's it. If your going to put on your main rifle mags that's fine too, I'd probably say one is fine, two at the max.

So minimal I'd say two pistol mags
Maximum I'd say two pistol two rifle mags

Anything more and your really overloading the belt and it should require a harness/more room. Obviously if that's your mission set than it'll change. I've ran a larger belt with harness for security patrols and carried a ton of shit on there, but I didn't have a PC on.

If you have a CR or PC I'd try to keep it minimal for weight.
>>
>>33032182
Obviously I'm only talking about mags here too btw. Of course you'll have like an iFAK and what not on there.

But ammo espically rifle ammo will weigh it down quickly
>>
>>33032182
>>33032197
I am going for a couple of rifle and a couple of pistol mags I think. I will be using it for comps and just messing around. If I went with two singles I could always take one off and pop it on a carrier

The F2000 didn't come out until 2001. Also you should look into a different vest for use with the FS2000, the M83 makes mag changes a bit difficult if you got mags in the upper pockets. I'm speaking from experience.

I'd recommend a chest rig like the SADF one if you like that Nutria Brown, but I use an old ass RACK vest from the early 2000s for that retro vibe.

I like the jump cuts to cut down on rambling. He didn't tend to to begin with, but it's a good habit to get into.

Also I think he was legitimately just thanking everyone who watches his videos for all the feedback and doubt it will be a reoccurring thing.

I'm not gonna white knight for him and defend all the things you don't like about his newer videos because lolitsafuckingyoutubevideo and who cares but I have noticed an uptick in quality through each video as he figures out what works in a video and what doesn't.

As for the "pandering", I think he was clarifying that he wasn't legitimately shitting all over X group (deserved or not), because some people take jokes way too hard. So while entertaining for most of us, can be really discouraging for other people so clarifying that they're just jokes is a decent way to go about it but I agree I love the dry blunt humor and would hate to see that go or be diminished

South FL gets surprisingly dry in the summer, and the Everglades has many hues and shades of tan and brown between mangrove forests.

That being said there is still more green than brown, hence why I switched to RG.
>>
>>33036441
should I try and get some ranger green mag pouches then to mix with the coyote?
>>
>>33036478
Ive always been under the philosophy of not mixing colors on kit because

>It makes the shape of the pouch stand off more
>Its not aesthetic at all

I mean its your kit so you do you. If thats what you want to do be my guest. That being said, what are you trying to achieve with this equipment?
>>
>>33036441
looks like a pretty easy field to stroll across, its really a watery hell hole filled with bullshit and suffering.
>>
>>33036505
honestly just getting the belt for comps and general dicking around
>>
>>33036513
Fo sho, thats kayak or airboat territory. Im planning a cross- Glades kayak camping expedition once Im out of the Army, and am not looking forward to dealing with false land.

>>33036517
In that case it really doesnt matter, go with whatever is better looking for you, price permitting.
>>
>>33036526
how dumb would it be to spray the belt rg?
>>
>>33036538
Not that dumb, a longstanding practice in militaries has been to paint their equipment with dustings of a different color to better suit the environment, YMMV however.
>>
>>33036554
I will keep it in mind. If I sprayed it should I just go ahead and get pouches in rg?
>>
>>33036505
Wouldn't it break up your outline at distance though, vice one solid color?
>>
>>33034638
Nice Alice pack set up Anon.

>>33034881
((You))
>>
>>33036575
Just count on eventually replacing your belt and get pouches in the color you intend to have. It's not a big deal meanwhile, but I don't think you will be happy in the end with the belt you have.
>>
>>33036786
I think I will just spray paint everything fuck it
>>
>>33029085
3 mag or 6 mag? What color? Did you get the hydroharness compatibility?
>>
>>33036809
I'm just saying that eventually you will buy what you really want. It saves money in the long run to save for a little while and get what you really want. If you're not sure what you want yet then just get what's practical now and paint it to blend in with your environment.
>>
>>33036865
Yea I will buy the pouch colors I want for the future and spray the belt. If I ever get dissatisfied with the belt I can replace it
>>
>>33029085
Also email Colin since it has been 6 weeks. You'll probably have a tracking number the next day.
>>
>>33036882
Personally I don't paint gear, especially something as minor as a belt unless the contrast is really, really bad.

>>
>>33036736
Ive studied this for a presentation at work and the straight lines of pouches dont melt together visually at a distance, and instead things like tan pouches on an OD PC stand out more.

Realistically thats less important than knowing how to hide and using local flora as additions to a base camo.
>>
>>33025731
Who is this faggot?
>>
>>33037034
Does that extend to solid color/camo uniform/gear mixing?
>>
>>33037034
It can, but Ive never been to concerned about it.

If anyone here is that concerned about concealment, you should focis more on figuring out howto hide rather than sperging on the finer colors of equipment. We used to hide in the hills in mandresses and jeans and be able to ambush professional soldiers no probems.
>>
>>33037085
So... does green or brown work better?
>>
>>33026264
Fucking hated that huge pack when I was in. Never got mine properly adjusted.
>>
>>33037106
Are you in the desert, mountains, swamp, or forest? There is no "end all" color. The Marine Corps experimented with Coyote Brown and thats a solid color for many environments with the benefit of being effective in transitional biomes. But the same has been argued for smoke green or Ranger Green, where its greyish tinge helps blending in a wide varety of locations.

The best bet is to trial and error for a good camo or ask around on local forums for airsoft or hunting what works best in that area.

Pretty much, although I stand by that muted colors, knowing how to hide and move, and keeping barriers between you and whatever you want not to see you is much more efficient to learn than trying to find some end all, be all camo pattern.

As long as you avoid this camo...

TAG's colors are endlessly confusing. An RG that looks like OD and vice versa. They had some great deals on chest rigs but that held me off. Probably should've got one in black and spray painted it.

Unnecessary unless you do contracting, in which you would be using more durable gloves anyway.
