SilencerCo Omega 7.62
Other than that I'm thinking about getting a pistol can.
>>
Well I guess this is as good a thread as any to ask in. Can anyone here point me in the right direction for which suppressor to get?

I want to get a user serviceable 7.62 with a QD mount that I don't need to touch so can mount it underneath my handguard and not have to make sure it's still threaded tight after each mag. I was thinking of going for the Griffin Optimus but was wondering if anyone else had any suggestions.

Also, can someone explain to me what rated for subsonics/supersonics means? I've seen people saying both that supersonics have too much pressure for the can to handle and that subs are more likely to tumble and strike baffles. So do I need to find a suppressor that is rated for both? or is one that's rated for supers capable of handling subs? There's a lot of conflicting information online and my state isn't suppressor friendly so I don't even know anyone I can ask about it.

Check cashed july 13th for 2 form 1s and a form 4, all paper

so will they repeal the NFA?
I remember them getting more than 100,000 signatures.
>>
>>33024228
I've had a silencer in NFA jail for half a fucking lifetime. I think I bought it in 2015.
>>
>>33028782
Forms 4 submitted last May are currently being approved. You should call your dealer. Either they didn't submit the Form 4, they forgot to call you, or they never got the stamp in the mail.
>>
>>33024248
Trump is a Jewish shill and a lap dog.
>>
>>33029287
I did it through silencershop. My dealer has the suppressor, and he let me see it. He said he had no idea when it would be approved.
>>
>>33027257
7-9 months.
>>
>>33029313
Did you ever go sign a Form 4? That's when the actual transfer starts.
>>
Anyone think there'll be a market for cheap, no-frills suppressors after the HPA passes?

I may be considering opening up shop.
>>
>>33029369
I think you're underestimating the cost of producing suppressors that can get decent attenuation. There are plenty of cheap shitty cans on the market already and they all suck, for example Huntertown Arms and Rebel Silencers.
>>
Stop calling them silencers you fucking inbreds.
>>

>>
>>33029472
Yes, no shit. Did you or did you not complete and sign an ATF Form 5320.4 in duplicate? If you did not sign the form, then you never started the transfer and your can is not actually "in NFA jail" because you're retarded.

It's going on my 1911 and my 9mm AR SBR
>>
>>33026401
>photoshop
why tho?
>>
>>33027220
The sub/super thing is for pistol cans. Most pistol cans are rated for subsonic 300blk but not supersonic. The supersonic will damage the can and possible destroy it due to the pressure.

You'll want to look into a rifle can if you want to suppress 762x51. Lots of companies make them; my friend has a Saker 762 sitting in NFA jail but he did his research and said it's pretty gud
>>
>>33029498
Lots of people go through silencershop and their associated dealers. I was never told or heard any mention of that.
>>
>>33029402
If New Zealand has cheap cans, why can't we?

I'm assuming the main factors in the cost of suppressors in the USA are fancy materials and machining, bells and whistles, and most importantly a lower volume of demand because of legislation, meaning they have to sell each one for more to make any amount of money at all.
>>
>>33029537
The foreign market for super quiet subsonic cans outside of 22LR is nonexistent. Outside of handloads subsonic 9mm doesn't really exist, 45 ACP doesn't really exist there, and 300BLK just hasn't made it over.

This means that in their market attenuation is second to size and weight.

There will be a demand for small, cheap AR and AK suppressors, but guess what: With Silencers going Title I we'll be able to import them. Every AK will have an el cheapo foreign made PBS.
>>
>>33029534
This is what happens when you click "buy" and don't read the fucking instructions. Go to your dealer TOMORROW and tell them how retarded you are.

FYI: You're going to have to get fingerprinted in order to receive the can. Otherwise, you're waiting for the Hearing Protection Act.
>>
>>33029627
No, you're retarded. I did mine as a trust before 41f so I'm grandfathered in. My friend ordered a can through silenvershop and the same dealer. His wait time was about 10 months but he just clicked buy, sent in his trust info, and when it was approved, picked it up.

Tldr go fuck yourself
>>
>>33027220

Very biased (as I partially invented them and used to make them) but if Dave has not changed the design, the Smith "windtalker" is absurdly user maintanable (by design). It's been run on M240's to incandescence with no issues, so a civvy end user should be fine.

Downsides?

It's fucking heavy.

I/We designed it to be boot-proof. You can drive tent stakes with it. But you can clean it with a t-shirt and a broomstick. And you basically will have a very hard time hurting it. It's innards are stainless and it's coupler is titanium.

Also- You get one in 7,62, you can mount it on a 5.56mm Vortex, and still get some supression.

Anon, no. You're retarded. You ~CANNOT~ transfer a silencer to an unlicensed person without a Form 4 (or 5).
People are not "grandfathered in"
Suppressors are not "grandfathered in"
Purchases are not "grandfathered in"
APPLICATIONS submitted after July 12th 2016 are subject to 41F. You never submitted your Form 4. Your can is not in NFA jail because you never started the transfer.

Suppressors are addicting. I'm up to 8 so far. Almost half of my firearms have dedicated suppressors now. Once you start shooting with them (especially outside), you hardly want to go back to "the before time".

AAC Pilot (.22lr)
Gemtech Trinity (9mm)
YHM Phantom SS (7.62mm)
FA Machine Works Grenadier (9mm)
FA Machine Works Minutan-Ti (.22lr)
Barrett QDL (.50 BMG)
AAC TiTan-QD (.338)
FA Machine Works Dragoon (7.62mm) (Currently in ATF jail)

I'm not a robot.

I've got an AR in 5.56 with a BE Meyers 556 ASR mount, a PTR91, a Glock 19, and a Scorpion EVO 3 I intend to SBR this year if possible.

Right now I'm looking at the SilencerCo Hybrid 46 and the Omega 9K/45K. Any reason to go with the Omega Ks over the Hybrid first? I shoot way more 9mm than 5.56/7.62 because fun, but the Hybrid seems like I'll get a lot more use out of it long-term. My thinking is to get the Hybrid now and get the dedicated Omega K can for pistol calibers later.

Do you think it'll pass?

Would it be good or bad for the suppressor industry?

this might be a dumb question, but what do the wraps on the suppressors do?
>>
>>33035607

Cut down on mirage created by the heat rising off the suppressor.
>>
>>33035607
In precision rifle competitions people will wrap their supressors to limit the heat distortion they see through their optics

Is here anyway to buy or make an air gun suppressor that doesn't count as a firearm suppressor?

>>
>>33030486

>>33034235

>>
>>33035023
>What are your thoughts on the Hearing Protection Act?
shall not be infringed
>Do you think it'll pass?
decent chance, couldn't say
>Would it be good or bad for the suppressor industry?
Both! The GCA banned NFA imports for sale, so imported suppressors will displace a lot of sales. Fortunately, you can only displace so much of a tidal wave.

You will hear and may have heard people blaming the HPA for the absolute lack of suppressor sales. That is absolute bullshit. The answer is that 41F killed silencer sales, and people are 99% unwilling to go through with 41F bullshit. No one who is waiting for the HPA would buy a silencer post-41F if the HPA didn't exist.
>>
>>33035746

Back when I played paintball there was an ATF letter going around that anything that could be used to lower the dB of a gunshot in any measurable way was considered a silencer.

However the letter also noted that if removing it from the airgun would damage or destroy the airgun or the device it didn't count.

That was a long long time ago and has likely been changed to be more restrictive, but you do see factory pellet rifles with moderator style devices on them, which are not detachable.
>>
>>33036188
Thanks.

Now the real question is what does the ATF define as destroying the device
>>
>>33026401
Trust nobody not even yourself
>>
>>33034235
The only real difference between a brace and going full SBR is the ability to make adjustments whenever needed. Also I don't want to deal with 41F because I have 2 other co-trustees on my trust and I don't really want to have to organize everyone and get fingerprints.
>>
>>33035936
>The answer is that 41F killed silencer sales, and people are 99% unwilling to go through with 41F bullshit. No one who is waiting for the HPA would buy a silencer post-41F if the HPA didn't exist.

I have several NFA items (sbrs and cans) and I cannot fucking stand when the wait times are this long. I would rather keep my money in my pocket until wait times are down to 2-3 months again than nearly a year.

My first one back in 2011 or so what 5 months and that felt like an eternity.

Cautiously optimistic about HPA but realistically acknowledging that it is probably unlikely.
