If youd given them full Goretex winter gear AND timbys, it would have saved a lot of guys from dying, but the inefficiency of their logistics train was as much of a deficit if not more to their fighting capability than the individual soldiers clothing. Even if your soldiers are equipped for winter warfare, much more chronic and pertinent issues such as vehicle reliability, length of logistical supply train and quantity/time taken for said supplies to get there is much more of a factor to a war against an opponent with such vast depth in defence than a pair of Timbys on the feet of every german.
