Hey /k/, I have a little personal project going on and I ordered the cheapest AKM barrel and trunnion for it. The barrel can slide easily into the trunnion, it's still a tight fit, but it doesn't require a press.
Should I be concerned that I'm able to insert it by hand, should it be stiffer?
I'm not actually building an AK. So I'm thinking I don't need to be overly concerned.

what are you building?
>>33004847
>i.o.
>that's not even an ak barrel
>>33004876
A single shot bolt action, I'm using the barrel, trunnion, and bolt head as my only non home manufactured parts.

What kind of barrel is it then? It's 7.62 and for AKs, so what do I call it?
>i.o.
It was cheap as shit. Bought it blemished too

Explosives, you have a cast trunnion which will fail and a crap barrel.
Get a good barrel

and an actual trunnion

Blemished I.O. is that even possible thats like saying your turd is shaped differently today.

What's your source on exploding trunnions from io
>>33005616
That they go out of headspace in less than 2000 rounds.
>>33005310
Lol just don't buy from ak builder with a credit card m8

If I'm building a manually cycling bolt gun I don't think I'd run into this problem
>>33005420
It is possible, and only $22

You would trust your life to IO parts? also if your building a non ak why even use its trunnion just use a non ported barrel and tread it into a normal bolt or singleshot action.

Or just look up plans for a single shot falling block rifle and use the barrel which would probably be cheaper.

Did you literally buy any ol' trunnion and any ol' barrel? There are different sizes: 22mm and 23mm, for example.
>>33005780
Do you want an explosion? That's how you get an explosion. The barrel/trunnion depth sets the headspace.

You can knurl the journal and have it turned down for the proper interference fit. My friend did that for one of his AKs and it's been fine for 4 or 5 years now.
