China would not get involved, they have more to lose than to win. North Korea offers them piddly shit in economics compared to what the US gives them.

They also most likely would not launch a nuke on SF. Its too far, we'd probably shoot it down before it even came close. The more likely theory is they bomb Seol, in which case again we would get involved and destroy NK immediately.

My guess is the government and infrastructure would be destroyed within weeks, and the harder operation would be going around giving aid to citizens, many who probably wont realize the war is over, etc. (Look at Jap. WW2 for examples of this).

The clean up would be the real war, since they would have to send out military patrols way before an humanitarian aid, as most NK would probably be loyal to the cause for a while.

However, there's no surrender. The military is indoctrinated, they'd defect only when it's clear that their leadership is safe. The upper echelons of the military are likely to be very loyal and they'd maintain command of their forces.

You can assume that the Norks military command are sufficiently distributed so as to avoid decapitation strikes, their doctrine is literally to avoid being stamped out in an instant by the USA whilst maintaining credible threats on Seoul.

Speaking of which, an attack on USA coincides with an attack on Seoul so there's also a conventional war with Worst Korea at the same time.

After Pyongyang is nuked (more out of principle than military strategy, USA can't let any country consider nuking a USA city to be a viable move), the Nork military are in command from their bunkers. Pyongyang is only one of the sites nuked, the others are any known or suspected locations of nuclear capabilities. USA redeploys fleets and begins using those to suppress air defenses and begins hard and fast destruction of as much artillery and missile assets as possible.

This corresponds with diplomacy with China that includes the following axioms:
