As a Canuckistani, whose military has a good chance of continuing to be in the sandbox for a while? G3K. A shorter rifle for up close and personal in the mudhuts but still using a full-size cartridge for reaching out and touching a coon across the dunes. The best part is that other G3 variants also make acceptable DM rifles, plus muh German engineering and stupid accuracy. For a homeguard I would probably consider the same setup- Canada is a vast, open wilderness dotted with towns and cities, like a colder, less explodey version of Sandistan with better roads.

i wonder how ideal it would be to take something like a FAL, G3 or AR10, basically a battle rifle and attatch an underbarrel automatic pistol. Wouldn't that help balance your rifles usage? It could be both a long range and close ranger cqb weapon. Though it would have a longer barrel and overall length and not be perfect for CQB, more of a jack of all trades. Could be cool
