What is wrong with his question? He never said you shouldn't carry a weapon, he was just asking if it really warrants carrying that much ammunition. You aren't going up against the whole neighborhood, but rather a few people at MAX. With good shot placement, you should be able to handle yourself fine with a 15 round mag or some shit. I wouldn't say anything at carry an extra mag, but something like 2 or 3 kind of becomes absurd at a certain point, almost redundant. If you feel the need to carry that much ammunition, then maybe you shouldn't be going into that scenario in the first place.

Michibro here, SYG isn't going to save you from the courts if drawing that gun wasn't justified, which appears to be the case with OP.

For example, Michigan's stand-your-ground law, MCL 780.972, provides that "[a]n individual who has not or is not engaged in the commission of a crime at the time he or she uses deadly force may use deadly force against another individual anywhere he or she has the legal right to be with no duty to retreat if . . . [t]he individual honestly and REASONABLY BELIEVES that the use of deadly force is necessary to prevent" the imminent death, great bodily harm, or sexual assault of himself or another individual.[20]

The guy had backed away and wasn't in imminent danger at the point he pulled his gat.
