First, look online for manuals about designing home ranges. You need to be sure it's absolutely safe
Second, check your local gun laws. I know if you are in NI, you can get handguns, but I'm not sure about age, licensing, etc.
Third: What do you want to use the gun for? That will determine what you get.

Its northern ireland so its slightly stricter than the UK cus of troubles

Actually somewhat less strict, handguns can be owned.

Lee Enfields go cheap, are reliable, accurate, and theres plenty of them, not to mention lots of .303 around. Go on Guntrader.co.uk

-the range is setup already due to previous hunters using the space for taget shooting
-im pretty sure its 18 for handguns, break action shotguns and small calibre rifles
-ill be using it for target and skeet shooting, live animal hunting is illegal in this area

Really? Dam i would have expected it to be more strict, well the more you know haha

Okay, cool. Since I'm not in NI, I would suggest following >>32981316. Start with something easy to learn on, use, and feed.

Otherwise, a good .22 rifle is advisable.
