What is /k/'s thoughts on this game and is it worth?

I want to believe but I've been burned in the past on pre-ordering pre-alpha pre-beta early access bullshit and refuse to pay until the game's officially released.

I cant tell what this game is going to be like from a mile away:

Something that looks like an ocean of content miles long and wide, but only inches deep.

Spawn, kill/die, escape, buy gear, repeat.

Mediocre and boring, wouldn't be bad if it's like 15 bucks.
>>
>>32973676
i don't have commie combat fantasies so it is not something i would enjoy.

>Suggested single player mode to be added "after release", meaning never because we've been so suck it goyim.
Nope. Fact is, having pimpmygun in 3D isn't enough alone to make a game worthwhile, especially when its just been pasted into a graphical redux of their previous F2P title.
>OP doesn't just link the site, but specifically the preorder page
Questionable motives.

my friends all paid $150 for this. And based on conversations I've had with them......

your statement is 100% accurate.
>>
>>32973768
I got a refund for the game, it is literally this. So sad, such potential. They market it as a huge open sandbox, but its really pretty small scale maps that would be fine as a deathmatch map. The AI is stupid as fuck but also have aimbots and the netcode is bad for when actually fighting other people. The gun porn is the only good part, and then you don't want to take your guns out into the world because you know some bullshit will cause you to lose them.

They should have either made a big open sandbox game, or a slow paced small map pvp game. They tried to make it both and failed on both fronts.
>>
>>32973888
OP here. I linked the pre-order page specifically to point to the implied value of the game (if there is any). I would be lying if I stated that having an opportunity to play the game for myself was of no interest for me.

>>32973719
This was also one of my concerns.

>super pre-alpha game with no more content than about 15 minutes worth of play
>puts the $ behind the value of how much it is
>expects you to pay 44.99$ just for the base game
>in PRE-ALPHA EARLY ACCESS

Yeah fuck right off. Buying into this shit is exactly what keeps encouraging game devs to create a 1/8th finished piece of shit and sell it at full price, only to abandon it after a few months. They have no accountability and are not legally obligated to give you a finished product. If you are a retard who buys early access games you need to forfeit your right to bitch about it on their forums when they abandon it. It's your own damn fault for being a chump.
>>
>>32973839
Which manga is this from?
>>
>>32974407
Once I saw the "Chance to have access to alpha",
I realized that it is just a pump-and-dump. What a giant fucking scam. "Oh, you paid $75+ for a chance to get in the alpha, well you didn't get alpha, too bad".
>>
>>32974495
Yep. Sad thing is people will still buy into it. It's the pyramid scheme of this decade. Whenever you call them out on it, they'll point out the two or three games that actually left early access around the scheduled time they were supposed to, like Kerbal Space Program, and turned out to be great games. They're so desperate to justify wasting their money.
>>
>>32973676

It isn't STALKER.

I know that's not necessarily a bad thing but whenever I see gameplay of this I can't help but imagine how much better this game would be if it was set in the zone.
>>
>>32974517
one of the saddest things about this model is that the end game could even turn out to be good, but most of the people who buy in early play their fill during the early access and have LONG since abandoned the game before the best features even make it in. Then there's no launch hype because all that hype went in to the early access release, people remember having heard about it months or years ago and wonder why they should pay "full price" for an "old" game.

But most of that doesn't matter to the devs or publishers because 9/10 this model is a pump and dump like other anon said earlier.

>>32973887
That's why they call it doggy style.
>>
>>32974517
Pretty much. It seems like just another copy-cat "No Man's Sky", "Elite Dangerous", "Star Citizen", "DayZ", and the list goes on. There should really be some type of accountability clause that these company's must abide by that forces them to release their product, with the features stated in their initial claim (at the point in which they allow the game to be 'purchased' for early access) and release within their specified time-frame. Should they fail either condition, they MUST return all of the funds to the users.

When development teams are working as they should, they release games like KSP. They released a well-polished game, with modding support, at a reasonable price-point.

>>
>>32975515
Those are far more niche feels, can't relate. Although I will say that there are good space sims/arcade games out there, in fact there's a shitload. But with tactical shooters so many of them actually take risks, it's just that they're super flawed and/or they don't go all the way (gotta draw in some Cawadooty kids or else)
>>
>>32975598
at this point in the industry when everybody is somewhat fed up with the same shit being pumped out, the niche stuff is what'll sell. As for the space sims and stuff, there aren't many NEW space sims/arcade games. Elite horizon was pretty trash.
>>

I'm playing through Rebel Galaxy rn, it's a good time. Probably a lot more neat indie stuff where that came from. I'm also excited for Star Citizen, one of those rare gems that'll actually live up to the hype.

Thank you good sir. I love how 4chan/Infinity has the best memes/reaction images on in the internet.

As for OP's thread in general, I no longer preorder games. I buy 'em whenever Steam, Origin, Uplay, or whatever has them on sale. Even so, I prefer to finish playing my backlogs first as I have way too many games on my Steam account.

So glad I only paid 20 bucks into that game. I have a friend who plays the current game pretty regularly and says it's really shaping up and is a lot of fun but I just keep remembering how I was supposed to have a finished game last year and it still looks like a beta.

I hope it comes to fruition but frankly if I want the Star Citizen experience I'll dust off Freelancer, and as for games to play I'd much rather keep playing Warframe, a game with regular content updates that build on a solid and functional core rather than being dependent on far off promises of a better future.

>>
>>32973768

I agree with you that it shouldn't be 150 bucks, but you just described a lot of games that do the exact same thing.

People have been playing on dust2 for how many years now? Spawn, buy gear, kill/die, defuse.
>>
>>32979377
Not trying to bash it, I'm hoping it comes through but I'm not going to play it in its current state. When it's finally done I'll be happy to see it but I'm not going to invest my time playing into something that's so totally unfinished when I have other games I'm enjoying that are much more finished.

Like Warframe, which has an asston of content but more being added to it, rather than almost no content but a barebones, functional fondation. I really hope it delivers but I don't want to get into it until it does.
>>
>>32979407
I mean I play Warframe and love it, and that game is:

>Craft gear
>Level up gear while farming resources
>Use resources to craft new gear
>Repeat

Thing is the high fantasy science fiction setting allows for really creative and fun weapons that are very different from each other and are novel enough to make playing the same missions with different weapons interesting.

Tarkov, being set in the real world, might have a harder time with that. You may have dozens of different assault rifles all of which can be customized down to the smallest part but how different really is 'this' 30 round full auto assault rifle different enough from 'that' 30 round full auto assault rifle to make it feel fresh and new?

Made by the guys who made Project Reality. It's fun for the first couple of matches, but the lack of content and gameplay starts to show after that. Couple that with a different community to that of Project Reality (Probably because it's on Steam), and it starts losing a lot of it's fun.

I can't any new shit because NDA, but so far the groundwork has been laid and it's pretty damn solid. It really fills a niche that only STALKER seems to fill. The gun porn is the game's strong point, followed by the looting and combat.
The combat is really realistic, you can definitely tell the devs took their time here.
The graphics are fantastic, so is the sound design, it's easily the most immersive game I've played in a long ass time.
Annnnnd that's about all the good stuff I can say about it. It costs $130 to get into the alpha, and there's hardly anything there at the moment. The 3 maps available (out of 11 I think) are honestly rather small, the AI is fucking stupid, PvP never works, and the trading mechanic seems to be bugged at the moment.
I guess it's an okay holdover until STALKER Gunslinger comes out. Whatever.
>>
>>32974135
>>32979407
>150 bucks
is that what new vidya costs these days? why is anyone paying that fucking much for a single video game???
>>
>>32985730
The $150 gives you early access, season pass, and a fuckload of in-game goodies (pretty much 1 of every item and a billion rubles/bullets).
Frankly, I think it's fucking stupid, and the high price is only helping to kill the game. But seeing how much effort BSG is putting into this, I can't help but really want them to be successful.
>>
>>32985427
Think bruh. The part selector things aren't pointing to the proper area yet. That box nearby that says "none" is probably supposed to be the gas block. The gun is probably nonfunctional with it removed.
>>
All you need is Call of Pripyat + Call of Chernobyl. Submods only add to everything. No need for Tarkov. No need for anything else. Stop hoping. There will never be a game to live up to anyone's expectations anymore.
>>
>>32987758
The more likely explanation is that anything with "none' is using a default part. Think bruh.

I think its a scam like every other (((russian))) videogame, but how about you educate yourself a little about the game first.
Firearms in game can come incomplete, forcing you to scavenge or buy new parts to make them operable.
If there is no part equipped for that slot, it says "none". In this very screencap>>32985427, you can see the standard M4 stock, charging handle, grip, and so on all have their names in the slots.
