Man, Florida sucks. You're only allowed to shoot at ranges, which are all garbage in Miami, or your own land, which I can't afford. No public land here.

Illinois is in the same boat, and we've got no state owned ranges. The only place within ~110 miles that I can shoot rifles at is a garbage tier underground range that only goes out to 75 yards and consistently has three of their four lanes nonfunctional. $15 an hour to shoot down a drainage pipe.

If you don't have your own land you just can't shoot in a reasonable manner. Why do I still live here? No NFA. Gun liscense. Can't practice. The only state with a higher expatriation rate is New Jersey.

Must suck to have to use a range, I drive 15 minutes in any direction and there is open desert I can shoot in. In 20 minutes and I'm at a place people commonly use as a range.

Same in Tampa. Public ranges are far away, rare to know someone with land. I live in a suburb of a city and have 2 kids, it's not like I have time to drive out to the wilderness to shoot.

One cool thing about FL is that you can take your guns out on a boat, build a floating target and have an unlimited sized range, but again, this costs money. Plus, shooting from a small boat would suck.

There's Oakdale Gun Club to the east of St. Paul that's open to the public, though their public range had some pretty autisic RSO's the few times I went there.

Personally I'm a member of a tiny private club out in Cokato, which is pretty much just a big rifle range with a side area for pistol/trap/rimfire.

There's a private range (like $10 a year) a mile south of Pelican Rapids (near Detroit Lakes). They have a couple stations. Have pistol, 100 yard, and cant remember what else. Mostly used once a year by fudds. Locked gate and you get a key. Ask a bait shop for the owners info, and don't trash it up.
