In the sense of being pleasingly ingenious and simple, what gun is the most elegant? Far too many guns these days have like 30 different moving parts and break if you so much as drop them on a concrete floor. It was only back in the 40s that they knew how to make a gun that you could drop in acid, pull it out 3 weeks later and still be able to shoot it.

To me it'd probably be a Luger
To you probably whatever has a safety and feels good in your ass
>>32965961
>Luger
Shit German weapon that jams every 3 minutes.
>>32965994
only if you are a retard that uses the wrong ammo
>>32965601
Ruger no 1.
>>32966023
>wrong ammo
a good gun should be able to run any kind of ammo
>>32966111
Yes my Remington 870 should have an attachment to fire 120mm Abrams rounds.
I am not joking.
>>32966111
most guns will have problems to cycle if you use underpowered ammo.
>>32966111
Noguns please leave

toggle locks aren't anywhere near reliable and are/were a dead end in smallarms tech
the locking block action of a p38/beretta 92 is much more elegant and worry free if you want to jerk off to teutonic engineering.
A typical browning tilt barrel is leaps and bounds ahead of toggle locks, which is why it is the most common delayed blowback handgun design.
>>32966188
>the locking block action of a p38/beretta 92 is much more elegant
That's just your opinion
>>32966111
No.
You're bad and you should feel bad.
>>32965994
>Jams every 3 minutes
I am convinced beyond absolution that the people who designed the Luger and mass produced it were infinitely more adept at designing quality firearms than you, troglodyte.
Using good ammunition and taking good regular care of your firearms will provide you with a reliable gun. Fuck face.
>>32966224
>Using good ammunition and taking good regular care of your firearms will provide you with a reliable gun.
Seems legit.
>>32966188
>the locking block action of a p38/beretta 92 is much more elegant and worry free if you want to jerk off to teutonic engineering.
If the design is so beautiful, why don't you have a picture?
>>32966117
>not wanting an AR 15 firing 16" Mark 8 shells
Remington rolling block.
The Arisaka Type-38 rifle is one of the simplest bolt-action designs ever and also immensely strong (though most of that is due to the high-carbon steel the Japanese used to make them).
Hi-power
>>32967917
>Japanese
They might be simple, but they're also shit.
Simple is one thing. But how about the elegant part? I offer you the Browning Buck Mark. Back when Earth was filled with flocks of unicorns and I was a young un going to ranges to qualify for my shooting certificate, the range would lend us noguns worn out guns and I would consider myself happy whenever I could use one of these Buckies. We'd refer to them as bicycle pumps, for reasons.

this or the Martini Henry/Peabody/Metford/Enfield/Gahendra/Francotte/Greener
>>32969238
They look fucking plastic.
Anything WWII and older.

Go back to /pol/ you cuck. You've never so much as held a firearm.
>>32969276
>greener harpoon guns
WE'RE GONNA NEED A BIGGER BOAT
>>32965601
In terms of just having no parts and being super simple?
The Sten.
I don't think it's "elegant" in that there's some genius design that makes it only use a few parts, so much as just "extremely simple"
>>32969540
The upper one? Yeah sure. But that is a Ruger. Couldn't find a good pic of the lower one. They used to be on all the ranges here so I was surprised pics are hard to come by now.
Here's an old classic with nice lines - the FN Browning 1922. They were used by a lot of European armies until ww2. And because Belgian the Germans used these during ww2 as well.
>>32971096
The lower one is the Ruger mark 3
>>32971147
Well, damnit. You are right. My brains are more addled than I thought. Adding a pic of the Ruger Standard, just because. But now I need to find that Browning.
>>32965601
You're a fucking retarded noguns who doesnt know shit about gun reliability.
Stop watching so much shitty TV and pick up a fucking book you idiot.
>>32970326
well i mean the Japanese weren't exactly the best firearm manufactures, they had some pretty shit tier guns
>>32971321
the arisaka rifles were well made and probably one of the better rifles of ww2
the one gun that ruins the rest of japans reputation fir firearms is this piece of garbage in pic related, the type 94 nambu
>>32971417
>the arisaka rifles were well made and probably one of the better rifles of ww2
You've never cycled the bolt on one before, have you
>>32971417
This is a sexy motherfucker though, no matter it's reputation.
>>32971432
Well let me be clear
They were durable. That doesn't mean they were the easiest to use or the most accurate.
>>32968496
The Arisaka rifles were the one thing the Imperial Japanese got right, equipment wise.
>>32971432
I have. What's the big deal about it?
>>32971432
I have. It's easy if youve ever actually cycled a bolt before.
>>32965601
Something along these lines >>32966049 or pic related
>>32969586
I had a 36" Long Tom come through a shop I worked at, it really is far from elegant in every way. It was neat to see though.
>>32971471
>durable
>one of the better rifles of the era
you're a fucking idiot, japanese guns were either stolen designs or sub-par
>>32967917

>>32971614
>le double rifle meme
>the arisaka is shit
And fedoras are a sign of class, right Leon?
>>32971439
No, no it isn't. The machining on the gun is horrendous. The whole gun looks like they simply took a flywheel to it and said fuckit, then shipped it out. Almost 2 or 3 millimeters of fucking blank space between all of the parts, gigantic dirt traps for the ages. And the ring on the back, which was simply spot welded on. The whole thing is fucking disgusting, from its workmanship to its design.
