Hardwood flooring. Harder for home invaders and spooks to sneak around. Especially if it's older flooring and you know all the "quite" and "loud" spots of the flooring.

That and it's easier to clean and looks nicer.

Since we like to talk about packing out assault packs, I'd like to share this RSLC packing list I found: http://www.benning.army.mil/infantry/rtb/content/PDF/RSLC%20Packing%20List%20(2).pdf

It's a pretty good list. Most importantly it comes from a fairly objective source, so we have a baseline before a bunch of anons of varying quality comment.

Being one of those anons, I don't fully agree with everything either packed or left out. Also, make sure to intelligently replace uniform items with comparable clothing, and not worry about visible logos. Anyway, hopes yous all likes.
>>
>>32959938
For full blown Future War neo-earth combat, you need to add in more animal skin accenting. I recommend putting on furs on the top of the brace.

You're right. I don't exactly plan on getting ISR'd any any point, and I actually already have two IR strobes (Streamlight Sidewinder and Sidewinder helmet light both have IR strobe function), I only really bought it because it was cheap and had a retro operator vibe to it.

Gib handgat.

Started shooting some local 2 and 3 guns and some IDPA again. Finally giving into the fact I need a dedicated competition pistol.
>>
>>32962050
Do the comps you shoot have any specific rules or abide by the on-book rules about starting hammer-down?

If so, I'd honestly hold out for a CZ P10. If not, look into one of the several ultra high capacity hammer guns like a 2011 or custom built doublestack 1911 (yeah I know there isn't really a difference besides one's trademarked by STI), or something like a CZ Czechmate.

Some of them do, but most of the time they are relatively laid back small time stuff. Have been noticing a trend recently of these starts where the gun and mag is on a table. Not a fan of that.

I've been trying to get a buddy to sell me his doublestack STI for a fucking year now. Perfect gun, love shooting it and he has competed in like 3 years.

Don't have much interest in the P10.

First world problems.

I love the feel of the 2011 frame but I keep breaking them. I've broken 3 over the last 11 years so my last build was a Caspian doublestack frame.
>tfw non-compatible with STI mags
>tfw replacing 7 race mags cost me almost as much as building the pistol did
But it's not a hybrid polymer frame and should last a while longer.

I also don't think I'd have broken any if my local 3-gun match didn't heavily incorporate weapon-striking a fucking kickboxing dummy at at least 1 stage.

My favorite of the 3 dude. Generally fun course setups and less spergs than I've noticed in the local 3 gun circuit. Has really got my almonds activated when it comes to belt setup and where I really need to improve in some techniques.

>>32962149
>weapon striking
Haha fuck, have encountered some funny obstacles/add-ons but never weapon striking, at least not yet. Surprised you've burned through 3 frames in about a decade, disconcerting actually.
>>
>>32959053
So I just grabbed a type 86 chicom chest rig. I think I'm going to run 2 AR mags in the middle two pouches, my beofang radio in my far left pouch, what else would yall recommend? I know I should have a med kit but what should I stuff in there? More mags, am I passing over anything?
>>
>>32962190
I tend to get pretty into it and really konk the dummy.

Also I've been running a 6" slide plus compensator plus frame-mounted C-More so there's a shitload more weight out front than a standard 1911, just torques right at the back of the trigger guard and cracks right at the joint between the polymer and steel reinforcement.

I really doubt I'll have that issue with my carbon steel Caspian frame. Or if I didn't hit it as hard as I could.

I've been on a ruck/daypack kick lately, reorganizing and critically thinking about my packs. Going on youtube to see if maybe there is insight for me to learn from. And man, like every single ruck/assault pack video on a "prepper" channel is done by somebody who looks like shit. Why do people into this shit on YouTube all have beer guts and wall eye?

The only good vids are Kyle Lamb (even though the video of his I saw was really dumbed down) and GarandThumb.

>>
>>32962591
It's not the same layout. The rush pockets are differently shaped and sized, and it doesn't have stuff like the bedroll straps on the outside.

I actually really liked my issued assault packs, and they filled a great niche. They were well made, durable, not over designed gear.
>>
>>32962626
???
>>
>>32962522
Becuase most prepper people are easy money. Thats why sootch00 or whatever his name is, has a bag for every situation

(Bug out bag)
(Home invasion bag)
(Hurricane bag)
(Terrorist bag)

He even has videos on bags specifically built from walmart.. They are all shit because most 'preppers' arent thinking right to begin with. Its more fantasy than it is planned reality. If they actually had a reality sense to it, they wouldn't need 15 bags, they wouldnt need 205 years of food storage. Prepping is a highly profitable INDUSTRY.
>>
>>32962615
It's not really BOB, more just a hunting pack. If I want it to be lower profile I'll take the side pouches off.
I've got a bunch of cable ties, 100ft of paracord (tan and bright orange), lighter, sharpies, hand sanitiser, dry bags, leatherman, 3L camelbak, and two 32oz bottles.
I still need glow sticks, an Israeli 6" bandage, a couple packs of gauze, non-latex gloves, my first aid pouch, and a metal cup (to fit on the bottom of one of the bottles).
I also keep my HL impact sports in there, a smock, wool beanie/gloves, a shemagh (mostly for utility, not wearing) and will keep my sunglasses and gloves in there when they arrive.

>>32962630
There are lashing points on the bottom of 5.11 bags to attach bed rolls.
>>
>>32962645
I was shit posting anon.
Some youtube channels run ads, the owner of the channel gets a cut of the ad revenue. I don't know the intricacies of it, just if I had a channel I would monetize my vids for more funz.
>>
>>32962522
Because preppers are easy money and the people that actually know how to use their shit are too busy being out and using their shit.

You want a good ruck/daypack loadout?

Go fucking hiking. Do a 48-72 hour trip. Make a full-autism list of everything you took. When you're done, go line by line down that list and circle everything you used. Toss everything you did not circle.

For example, i've gotten to the point that my long-weekend-comfort-camping bag is under 15lbs with food but without water, and I can do an ultralight 72 hour trail kit with water for about 12lbs. And I don't have a bunch of superlight, super high dollar shit.

This they were, although I think that was more a byproduct of them being overbuilt as shit. Why would an empty day pack weigh 3.5lbs otherwise?

Just the pack. There's no point in anything else here because tl;dr in Australia you can really only own lever action shotguns, and pump/lever/bolt action rifles. Pistols are harder to get, and you can't take them hunting. You also can't own armour here.
When I get my bolt action (howa 1500, .223rem), I'll just carry spare ammunition on my person. If I get a lever action shotgun, I may buy some type of small chest rig, such as the SOE Micro 12ga rig (will upload photo)

Not that anon, but I keep a pack in my car for surprise innawoods situations (I live rural so things happen. Nothing dramatic, but gear has come in useful). It could potentionally double as a "BOB", though I hate tacticool phrases.

I break it down to categories: Medical, communications/signaling, water, food, utility, innawoods sustainment.

Medical- Trauma kit packed to your skill level. Secondary kit for minor non-time critical aid and hygiene. Includes space blanket. Includes salt and sugar to mix into water to help dehydration.

Commo/Signaling- Solar charger capable of charging all batteries in the kit and charging phones. Signal mirror, MS2000 strobe, chemlites, wussy little walkie talkies with ~30 mile range (I live in area with spotty cell phone coverage and these can usually reach my house).

Utility- Gardening gloves, medium sized wood hatchet, multiple lighters, fire stick, cotton ball fire starters, 550 cord in quick release knots

Innawoods sustainment- anything to help sustain that isn't mentioned elsewhere. Changes of socks, rain jacket, watch cap, flipflops, tarp, headlamp, flashlight, compass, multiple maps in waterproofing.

Lot of stuff I didn't individually list. The biggest thing is to organize the bag so it's easy to find everything. I'm huge on seperating with ziplocks and stuffsacks, and intensively labeling everything so it can be found later. Glow in the dark tape on lights and medical pouches.

I also have redundancies everywhere. Lighters and pens and water bottles and medical stashed neatly around. Plan for your circumstances and your use or what your emergencies would look like.

im exited becouse i will be able to get some spare parts for mine, like i want to competion hammer that the later model have.

I hope you get a flat trigger version tho.
my guess would be that it will cost 2-3k and thats alot for a pistol...

I was thinking about it, but it seem unnecessary.
If I get a belt, it'll be one similar to what I wore in the army, which is a riggers belt, which can support my weight.

Yeah, I really like the idea of a 'bug out bag' but not for SHTF purposes, I just like having a bag I can camp/live out of innawoods for fun/hobby. That's how im building my bag, with the purpose of camping/hiking/being self sufficient for a few days. But i will admit I am kind of putting a 'tactical' flare on it, just becuase then it could double as some form of 'bug out thing'. Not that I would bug out but whatever. Im always about having multiple purpose items. If I can build a camping pack and autisticlly mind masturbate over some prepping on the side, im cool with it, aslong as I don't spend extra money like a sperg on shit I dont need.

The glow in the dark tape is a good idea btw.

When goretex gets dirty the dirt particles allow water through the membrane.

never had one, its the heavier of the softshell line that arcteryx had, if its anything like my Drac jacket and I assume it is just heavier material and patchless it'll be pretty great, they're comfy, highly durable and really good at cutting wind.
>>
>>32963303
Absolutely.

Even in new, pristine condition the PASGT vest would really struggle with a .32acp and they very definitely don't stop NATO-tier 9mm loads. It was a frag vest and nothing else.

In the condition you're likely to find one now I wouldn't even trust it to stop low-velocity frag or .22lr from a pistol.

Most every decent range in the state has IDPA, 2 gun, 3 gun or a combination of the above. Check their websites. Most will be open to registration even for non-members.

http://3gunnation.com/club_series/schedule

Will have some events listed.

Do some googling and you'll find a handful of matches a month worth going to, you may have to drive a couple hours though depending.
>>
>>32963537
Its blueish honestly. I guess their idea of "wolf grey" is something totally different. There were about 3 of them at the gunshow in PA today. I couldn't say no to it. I guess everybody else who walked by just didn't know what it was.

Read up on basic rules. Come with guns unloaded and holstered/bagged. Call the venue with any questions and to confirm you are registered if done online. If registration takes place day of, call or email and make sure it's open to public registration.

Other than that yeah roll up, do your best and come home with stuff to practice in your own time before the next match.
>>
>>32963585
I'd recommend showing up to one and just watching before you show up to shoot. Keeps you from being too lost in the sauce.
>also keeps you from getting DQ'd because you didn't realize you had to have a certain piece of gear or something
Got DQ'd from my first IDPA match because I didn't have an owb holster and they wouldn't let me draw from concealment.

But that being said, most matches are pretty friendly and low key, people will explain shit and generally be nice and welcoming to noobs.
>>
>>32963633
how do you dq'ed from IDPA because you wanted to draw from concealment? i thought that was the whole point of that stupid game.

meanwhile USPSA lets you do more or less whatever the fuck you want, you can even appendix carry if you are willing to shoot limited
>>
>>32963665
Dunno, weird rule about the handgun had to be fully visible so the line judges could verify condition or something. Was dumb.
>>
>>32963585
Forgot to add, a lot of ranges will allow you to participate once (or a couple times) in IDPA as a newbie, but if they are sanctioned matches will eventually want you to be official.

https://www.idpa.com/join-now

>>32963665
All depends on the range/rules/event. That's what I was saying when you should be pretty clear what each event involves/requires.

They don't seem limited to a particular tier or class of competition or a particular host range either, so I dunno if it's a bunch of shitheads running a circuit or just my area in general. But they bend most of the rules and outright break a few of them, and it gets counted as kosher for some reason.

I mean, I suppose I could understand it if we had a big USPSA/IPSC following around here, or if there was anything more high speed than some POG air force base nearby as far as military bases. But there isn't, I'm in the middle of bumfuck cornfields.

I think I've spent:
>$120 5.11 RUSH 12
>$60 Camelbak
>$90 on side pouches
>$20 on multiool pouch
>$40 on paracord (it's expensive to get US made here)
>$20 on ITW clips
>$90 on smock
>$200 on ESS Crossbow ballistic glasses
>$105 on HW Impact Sport hearing pro + case
>$85 on lightweight hootchie/tarp whatever you call it
>$20 on Mechanix gloves which may or may not fit
>$15 on a cap (which I needed anyway)
>$12 on an 6" Israeli bandage
>$25 on a first aid pouch (non IFAK/ non urgent)

Still going to spend $430 on my rifle (which was $600) when I pick it up soon.
That's ignoring the $430 I spent for licensing.

That's like $2350.
I make about $500 a week and 1/2 of that gets chewed up on essential expenses like rent, bills, fuel, etc. but excluding food.

But it's worth it because I won't be noguns

Exactly. Greedy soldiers are taking PPE items that are handed out like candy and flipping them for quick cash.
>>
>>32964950
Yeah, you're forgetting that shipping is probably $50USD (if they even ship to Aus), and it'd take about 3-4 weeks to arrive, compared to same week, or the next in Aus.

I got the 3LS kit for $100AUD which is a fucking steal, and then bought the Suppressor One kit (thinner frames for hearing pro, also comes with copper lense) for $90 (which wansn't that cheap tbqh, but the next best thing I found was from Czech Republic at $70, and would take like a month to arrive).
There's a similar thing called the 2x deluxe kit, which has both frames, and black, copper and clear lenses. That costs about $200-235AUD here.
>tl;dr I'm getting the 2x kit with an extra yellow lense and about $45 cheaper than normal

Reminder that shit just costs about 30-40% more in Australia, excluding exchange rate.
Reminder that $190 AUD is $145 USD.
So if you were to get what I got in America, it'd be like $105USD brand new shipped. Not that bad.

I literally looked all over ebay and domestic retailers for ages before making a purchase. $190 was the best I could find. A lot of private sales won't ship to Australia, and even if they do, it's usually $35 USD (about $45 AUD).

Been trying to find the exact one but am having no luck. Have had it for years, picked it up from a local camping/surplus spot. Google "poncho tent" and you'll get a pretty good idea of what I'm talking about.

>>32964517
Man, a good tent is worth its weight in gold. Especially stuff made in the last 10 years or so. Have tents that pack smaller, are lighter, more rugged and go up 5x as fast as the ones I used to use as a younger buck.

If we're up in the mountains during the cold months, throwing up your tend, building a fire and then using an emergency thermal blanket (the tin foil looking fuckers) strung out as a reflector is about as comfy as it gets. Have been sitting in nasty, windy weather in 20 degrees and the tent was keeping 50-60 degrees ambient with that setup.

Makes me want to say fuck work for another week and hit the Blue Ridge just thinking about it.
>>
>>32966725
It doesn't usually get that cold here. I think the coldest it's ever been for me on army exercise was just cold enough to leave frost on my pack.
My issue sleeping bag (still have it), is good to -10c I'd say, maybe -15c with a bivvi bag.
Given this, I think I'd be fine just using a lean-to style shelter with that multicam tarp from post >>32964028, plus it only takes about 2 minutes to set up, and I only need 2-3 tent pegs

Hard to see because shit photo but you can see a tiny cut on the top edge of the roll.
Let's me tear of similar length of strips and they're all pretorn for easy removal.
If you need a longer strip just go around another time for a double length.
Personal philosophy is if you need more than a double length you need different tape or a different method of holding down.

The problem still being that the end of the tape is flat on the roll, making it hard to scratch up in gloves.

>>
>>32971140
Ah yes, very true.
I rarely wear gloves so it's a non-issue to me.
>>
>>32968138
Okay.

First, visible lasers on long guns are pretty pointless. IR lasers on anything, if you don't have the night vision to see them, are even more pointless.

The ATPIAL and DBAL are expensive because of the IR laser, and there's no reason to buy them since he doesn't have NVG's.

As far as iron sights, it's hard to go wrong with MBUS Pro's (which will be roughly $140 for a set if you shop around) or a combination of MBUS Pro front and a USMC-stamped KAC 600m Micro rear, both of which can be picked up on ebay for about $120-130 total. Both are good, both are relatively inexpensive.

If he's on a super tight budget, the plastic MBUS Gen2's are actually pretty damn good. Good sight picture and they're durable (they're actually more durable vs. dropping than a lot of metal sights). But they're bulky and a lot of people think they're ugly.

>>32967500
With no third-party governing body to prove it I doubt many of them will actually stop m193 though, since there's literally nobody to hold them accountable to their claims.
>>
>>32971272
That's the point of tabs in tape for field use. Nothing to do with controlling the length. If you're military, you are wearing gloves basically 100% of the time in the field and it having to take them off or fumble trying to scratch up tape sucks. Tabbing tape is basic field setup to make life easier.

Even without gloves, tape that is very cold sucks to scratch up.

Instead of autisming and calling folks mouth breathers, in the future consider that people actual have gone outside around here.

Strikes me as overly complex. I am running a HSGI blowout and I like the idea of being able to remove individual parts while being able to "blowout" all of it

Any retard can look at that MP5 and see it isn't airsit. Handguard is actually well made and has a proper fastener, mag looks like someone took more than five minutes to bend sheet metal on it, actual finish on metal parts, proper barrel metalwork.

So who's claimed it's been arishit before?
And when are they being physically removed?
