I grew up overseas in Dubai and Beijing but my dad's family is from Oklahoma so I spent most summers there. I hated it as a kid, when I got older it got much better. The lakes are the best part, it's interesting that Oklahoma has more man-made lakes than any other state but I never see it advertised anywhere. Tenkiller is great, but if I ever get rich enough to buy a mansions on Grand Lake, I'd do it.

I've disliked every person I've met from there during my time in the Army. Every last one felt like they were in the employ of the tourist trade as they tried to explain to me why Oklahoma wasn't just an empty spot on the map. As a Souitherner, I feel insulted that they attempt to force themselves onto the South just because they're accented hillbillies.

I live in Tulsa. It's alright. I wouldn't want to live away from the metro areas besides maybe Stillwater. I mostly hate that we're so dominated by conservatives. I'm pretty sick of Mary Fallon.

I drove through your state this summer with some friends doing Route 66 all the way west. I was extremely surprised by how nice Oklahoma city was. Very clean, and a cool downtown. I was expecting it to be a shithole, and I wanted to continue on to Amarillo, but I'm glad my friends outvoted me. Very underrated. As for the countryside, I really like the flat, empty spaces, but that might just be because I'm from Indiana and have a special appreciation for that kind of scenery. If I had to move away, which I might actually have to do, I could definitely see myself living there.

Because I've seen more trash in those states than oklahoma, but I tend to stay in the nicer area of Tulsa and my home town unless I'm traveling and boy oh boy you should see the oxygen wasters I've seen compared to oklahoma.

Been stationed here for a year. It's alright I guess, a very meh wannabe Texas. The roads all sucks and the drivers are worse, because they are so fucking slow and shitty. I hate driving fucking anywhere only to get stuck behind someone doing 55 in the left lane, or worse, speed matching the person next to them in the slow lane.

Tulsa reporting in. I grew up in a Dallas suburb but have lived in the midtown area of Tulsa for 4 years now. I love this place, the city offers everything I could want but without the traffic. Every state and every city has parts of it that are complet shit, Oklahoma / Tulsa included. However, this is definitely home for me now and it would take a lot to get me to move.

Central NJ here. Got offered a contract to work in OKC. I'd basically be making double what I earn here and living at half the cost. The guy is really cool or they're hard up for docs because the guy agreed to 90% of my counter offer. Meanwhile my colleagues living in Manhattan or jersey city are wondering why the hell id want to live in flyover country and I'm shaking my head.

I spend 9 months traveling from Philadelphia to Tulsa weekly for work (in OK Monday - Thursday). Overall OK is kinda boring, but Tulsa isn't too bad. Everyone I worked with seemed to be pro-gun, and I even flew my AR down with me twice to take go shooting with co-workers. I'd definitely visit Tulsa and OKC again, but I have no interest in staying more than a few days ever again.

With that said, the US Shooting Academy range north of Tulsa is the most amazing range I've ever been to. OP if you've never been there, go this weekend. It'll blow your mind.
