Ask any veteran. That is bullshit. I was deployed for the first time in 2002. Within 4 weeks, 6 of the 11 friends who enlisted with me were dead. I didnt even get to go to their funeral. On a patrol, the humvee carrying 3 of my friends got hit with a roadside bomb. Everyone on board was killed. The first time I killed a man, I watched a basketball sized hole show up in his chest. It was all I could do not to vomit. How about you enlist in the next war? It'll change your fucking view alright you dumb fucker.

it's very easy to fall in hate with them. they live to crudely different and put the value of a human life on such a wildly different level. They seem to be closer to cavemen than modern society. Having seen a few chai boys first hand is pretty gross. But I'm autistic enough to make it all feel clinical. An assload of dudes see shit like that and go straight for the loudmouthed hate. I dunno, just my experience.

War is not glorious. 2005 was my first deployment and the only one I needed. Caught a MEU for my second.

Combat and death is something you want as a young man, but if you actually do it, you realize the only thing you want to do is live, a nice long life. Especially if you remember the ones who didn't, I lost a couple guys too.
