It wouldn't disappear, it would just spray burning powder across the room.

Longer barrels increase the velocity of a bullet because they contain the expanding gas behind the bullet. Longer barrel = extra fractions of a second the bullet is being accelerated by hot gas.

With virtually zero barrel, the expanding gas of the burning powder would almost instantly start escaping around the shot, instead of pushing it.

It's essentially the same as putting a pile of lead shot on the table, a pile of powder next to the lead shot, and lighting the powder. Poof, flash, and virtually none of that energy is imparted to the shot because it's not enclosed. You'll be lucky if it even moves.

Fun fact, that is loaded with 3.5" shells. There is ample room obtain notable pressure.
