Why does the AK have its legendary status as the terrorist/ freedom-fighting/ always-reliable/ rugged-as-the-sun assault rifle?
Have to justify constantly losing to factions that use them somehow.
>>32936466
A lot of them were made so they're cheap and thus irregular forces can afford them. They'll also buy anything else cheap, like FALs and G3s that were also made in the millions and became popular with irregular forces after they were being replaced in conventional armies.
>>32936466
it's CHEAP
>>32936466
Super cheap rifle that can be churned out in wheel barrels and used effectively by illiterate middle of Russia villagers.
Are there AKs that were produced with high-quality, precision-machined materials?
Does owning one effectively make you a god?

>rifles and tooling handed out like candy by the soviets
>ak is better/more reliable than ww2 or older weapons usually used by unorganized "freedom fighters"
>ak is so dirt simple and robust that jungle dwelling socialists, africans and durkas in goatfuckistan can maintain them
It really isn't that hard to figure out.
>>32936466
>cheap, simple construction means manufacturing them is almost as viable as purchasing them
>loose tolerances make the rifle highly resistant to conditions that might jam other contemporary rifles
>7.62x39 is ballistically almost identical to 30-30, a nice and heavy intermediate round with adequate range
>vast array of aftermarket and surplus parts
That's pretty much it.

The burden of proof, onus probandi, in debate is on the person making the assertion.
o·nus pro·ban·di
ˌōnəs prōˈbändē,ˌōnəs prōˈbandē/
noun. LAW
the obligation to prove an assertion or allegation that one makes; the burden of proof.

We spent eleven years and 53,000 American lives so they would not go completely Communist, and as soon as we left what happened? They went communist.>>32936568

I found this.

Had to stop watching after five minutes when the 'testing' revealed the M16 was hitting with every bullet while the AK conveniently was hitting nothing. So they were fired by the same guy? No. So they were benchtesting? No. So they were picking the shooters at random? Guess.
AK-47, the very best there is. When you absolutely, positively, got to kill every motherfucker in the room; accept no substitutes
>>32936708
Almost 60k american lives to kill 1m commies. Sounds like a win to me. Had we not killed so many, them taking south vietnam might have actually meant something. They only took it because we withdrew in the first place
>>32936466
As far as the Middle East and Africa go, they only really use them because they are in those regions in great quantities
>>32936708
HNNNGGGG that bottom AK.

It's a battle proven rifle and it's readily available on every continent (except those faggots in Australia).

all the East German and Russian ones are gloriously machined. So good that it's 2017 and Americans still can't really figure it out.

>Whoever kills the most wins
>The side that lost more achieved its goal
>The side that killed more failed to achieve its goal
Look at it this way: in a football game, one team injures a ton of the other team's players. But the other team scores more points. The team that had more injuries but scored more points won.
War isn't "whoever kills the most wins." It's "the people who get what they want win."
>>32936466
Because the USSR fucking shit them out, left them in Afghanistan as well as all their puppet states, there became a large surplus of 'em, they get dealt around and bingo: the stereotype AK is born.

Say it with me, one more time:
Getting particulate into the action of either rifle will shut down the gun. The AK has a more open action and thus it's easier to get offline than the AR.
HOWEVER
Once the gun is shut down due to particulate matter, the AK will be easier to get back to working order in a combat situation than the AR. The AK simply requires you to remove the dust cover, pour some water in the action, invert the gun and rack it a couple times. Also, in all the dust/mud tests, AK act as functional straight-pull guns until you can do that.
ARs, OTOH need you to remove the bolt and clean the fuck out of the guts.
It's harder to get an AR offline in these specific circumstances, but once it seizes the fucker REALLY seizes.
>>32940127
So is there a gun that's sealed up tight and easy to clean?
>>32941655
Nothing semi-auto, no.
Literally every machine has points of weakness, and the more complex the machine the more vulnerabilities it will have.
>>32936643
SNAP
>>32936466
because the m16 in vietnam was a prone to malfunction, which made the AK look good in comparison.
>>32936503
yeah its called an AR-18
>>32941655
closest would be an fs2000 because the whole gun is sealed up good, except for the charging handle channel (dont know the technical term), if it had a spring loaded dust cover like the galil ace, over the charging handle channel, it would the most reliable gun.
you gotta keep shit out of the action, an ak is terrible at that because if its off of safe, it can fill with shit fast and jam up the bcg and trigger assembly. since the gas exists out the carrier on an ar through those two holes on the carrier, it can blow out some dirt and ingress.
