Makarovs aren't very friendly to new gun owners. They're really small and if you grip it wrong the slide will bite the fuck out of you every time.

not to mention that 9mm maka is more expensive than regular 9mm para.

for $300 you can get something better.

As an 18 year old you can't own a handgun period in your state. Both dealer and private sales in IL require the buyer to be 21 or older for sale of a handgun.

That said, Makarovs are excellent choices. Soft shooting, cheap to feed, not super powerful or anything but just about right for anything you might need a handgun for, plus you get the milsurp factor. There are modern guns like the Walther PPX and Canik TP9 that are more powerful, cheaper to feed, and as inexpensive but they don't have the same feel to them compared to owning a milsurp.

lol no. There were only 2800 P38k's produced and fewer were imported, even fewer survived. There's a P5 on GB for $700 right now.
