Alright, but I can afford to use .357 SIG. I'm on the road a lot, too, so I prefer the proven penetrating abilities of .357 SIG. I also carry three spare mags, so I'm not too worried about running out of ammo.

The obvious solution is to get a 21SF and then convert it to every caliber mentioned in this thread so far (except .44 magnum obviously). 20 slide assemblies drop right onto the 21 and there are 9mm, .40, .38 Super, and .357 SIG barrels for the 20, plus there are the .460 Rowland and .50GI options for the 21.

9x19 because capacity and cost.

Benefit of 9mm is lower recoil and more capacity.

Larger calibers are marginally more effective. However, regardless of caliber the rule is keep shooting until they die. Odds favor 9mm in that situation.

Pistols are backup weapons. If you want better first round kills use a shotgun or rifle.

Also as a civilian the mindset of someone you are shooting to defend yourself from will be very different than the mindset of someone you are trying to arrest as a cop. I want as much violence and trauma imparted on the adversaries flesh as possible while maintaining a "high" round count in the magazine.

Depends on the role I'm filling. EDC or low-risk security, .45 acp. More energy departed to the target. Military, I would want 9mm. The possibility of multiple targets and the stress of combat makes those extra few rounds really count.

I actually like the .40 Caliber but come on

there's no reason not to use 9x19. The difference is measurable, but realistically it does the same fucking job for less wear and tear

As someone that owns only a .40 and the army makes me shoot 9mm, I would choose 9mm. 9mm+P loads pretty much have .40 terminals with higher ammo capacity and less recoil. Would like to try .357 SIG someday.
