So I shit posted in a 10/22 thread the other day, bagging on the posters for the lack of suppressors, then when I got home I totally forgot to take pics and post.
What a piece of shit I am.
Suppressor thread.
Pre-empt some questions by saying I live in a country which actually loves suppressors, they are totally uncontrolled for 100% of the population and pretty cheap. Very common for new rifles to come in a scoped and suppressed package for hunting for all calibers.
This particular 10/22 is my rabbit gun, during the daytime I shoot with it scoped, during the night time I shoot from the back of a truck with a spotlight and a red dot sight on it.
from UK?

"The poor mans 10/22"
I use this suppressor with subsonic and high velocity .22, and either way it makes a real difference in comfort to shoot.
So where'd you get the sporter profile, blued barrel with threads? I'm looking for one.

No sir, New Zealand.
Is that a dedicated .22 suppressor?
It looks pretty fat in diameter in the pictures. Just curious.

ah we got ahselves a' Kiwi!
Top 'o the mornin to ya mate!

Yeah its dedicated .22

Subsonic high velocity? That sounds like an oxymoron.

Here's my 10/22 with a Gemtech integral suppressor

I'm considering getting an integrally suppressed barrel, what's the advantages over a screw on can and do you recommend it?
I'm finding it hard to justify because the screw on is very effective but more importantly really convenient for if I don't need to shoot suppressed.

Are you IDF?

The advantages
It's shorter (US short barrel rifle laws). With a thread on can I would need a 16" barrel. This integral is 17" total.
Subsonic. With the barrel only 7" long inside the tube, and it's also ported, normal bulk ammo stays subsonic so there's no crack. Sometimes a round will be a little hot and crack anyway. Poor QC I guess. High speed .22 like minimag seems to crack regardless. I haven't put anything over the chronograph yet, so I don't know how fast anything is actually moving, and it's below freezing out which also lowers the subsonic limit a little.
Looks slick (my opinion)
Downsides are
More expensive and also a tax stamp. My .22 cans were 150 and 350 each. This barrel was more.
Can't be put on another gun (unless it's a 10/22 receiver, of course).
Velocity loss. If you're hunting small game, maybe you want that extra speed at the cost of the sonic crack.
Bull barrel profile won't fit in some stocks.
In the end, I got this because I wanted it. Now I do wish it came in silver, other brands do come in stainless which would have matched. I guess I need another 10/22!
So many hoops to jump through but totally worth it
