A place to share books, stories, and assorted writefaggotry.

All writing is welcome, even if it's only tangentially related to /k/.

Give thanks to Polybus and Archivefag for keeping /wfg/ afloat.
It's been unscientifically proven that a lack of (you)s for writers can lead depression, alcoholism, story abandonment, and an hero.

But it's so easy to make a difference in a writer's life. Just one (you) a day can make the difference between a happy writer and a writer on permanent hiatus.

Please, post now. Help make a writer's day.

yeah, it's that time

--------

This was the first time the vehicle had been driven with no input from Lily at all. And it showed. The ride was a little more jerky, the gear changes not as smooth and the engine sounded and behaved.... just a little different than it used to do

She did tell you that she could manipulate the vehicle. If a round was loaded, she could fire it. She also had certain control over the engine, and maybe even drivetrain, with the gearbox. You were still curious about a few things. First and foremost, how that actually worked. But that was likely the kind of question you would never get an answer to, even if Lily or anyone else actually wanted to to tell you. Was it a conscious thing, like picking up a can from a table? Was it some sort of semi-conscious thing like breathing? Or maybe entirely automatic, like the heartbeat? Could she start the vehicle up from her bed and drive it away without even seeing it? Does she feel anything when someone else starts it? Can she feel it move?

All of this had been a little of a touchy subject, and you did try avoid it. But you did have the feeling that you would get an answer to at least some of these questions in a matter of days. For good or bad

Love is funny like that. It makes it difficult to see flaws in someone. And anything that was a flaw is brushed aside as “no, that’s nothing serious”. You always knew Lily had a closet full of skeletons, but you figured you could live with them. But what if it wasn’t so much a closet as a shipping container full of skeletons. How much of her past could you overlook?
>>
>>32926897
Your thoughts are drowned in the singing of engines and clatter of tracks. It wasn’t much longer now. Well at the base it seems the two guards that usually stand by the entrance had been my a pair of M1s. And while steel was effective against the extraterrestrial invaders, those 120mm guns would laugh at a 10 inch steel plate as if it was made out of paper. Not a time or a place to mess about

Well inside the gate the softer vehicles in the convoy drove away in different directions, leaving the Jagdtiger and the light tank idling just inside the compound

But not before long some kind of instructions arrived. A man sitting on top of a Humvee waved a big sign with “TD” written on it, and he seemed very at least somewhat happy when the big machine started following the Humvee. The lead vehicle moved around in the base at a crawling pace onto a set of proper tank garages. Real 60+ ton hydraulic lifts, modern equipment and so on. It was more of a workshop than a garage at a closer look.

The man that previously held the sign waves his hands side to side, signalling engine shut of. The mighty twin turbo V-12 takes last breath before going silent, leaving the only sounds around the sound of the exhaust ticking itself cool and some power tools in a distance. And then the trodding of boots . Lots of them. Soldiers surround the vehicle. They weapons were not drawn or held in any sort of ready position. But it was definitely a show of force. “Don’t try anything around us” they said. But not out loud. Talk softly and carry a big stick, right?

‘Please order the crew to leave the vehicle. And do take necessary belongings with you’
>>
This was a little too forceful for you to be comfortable. But in just a few minutes the crew ended up on the workshop floor, not quite sure where all of this was going. Lily was starting to come to her senses, but still had to be carried. The soldiers lazily waved you along to some other building. They didn’t seem very interested in looking scary at all, even if that was their intended effect. And no one seemed to much bother you were carrying a young woman around either

You were met by another rather uninterested man, explaining that the Jagdtiger wouldn’t do the obstacle course, but rather be sent out to the firing range at first sunlight. The man continued to drone on about health and safety and ended the the entire speech with the rather obvious

‘Any questions?’
‘Yeah’ the driver said, in a tired voice ‘What about food?’
‘Oh, right. The cafeteria is open between 7 and… augh i don’t think anyone gives a fuck anymore. Go to the low yellow wood house. Food and that is there. Oh and before you leave i need you to fill in some papers, just some personal things’

The only thing that hurt more than writing down the made up stuff for Lily, was drawing a single sad line over the box asking for any relatives. Mom, dad, the little kid… All reduced to a single 3 inch long line on a sheet of paper, right over the relatives section. It hurt a little. You tighten your grip on Lily. It does actually help a little. Some of that bad things in your head really go away when you hold her like this. And all of it go away when her arms reach around your waist

>You’re worried again
“I was, yeah”
>>
The little briefing ends and it seems no one was around to walk you around anymore. The cafeteria had remarkably good food. It was in good fashion also served by a woman who was easily 50 years old and as wide as she was tall. Lily did what little eating she could do, more for the sake of getting food than being hungry. The sedation really knocked the wind out of her. The escort from earlier was not going to happen again, but rather one very sorry looking guy just handed you a slip of papers with instructions on where to sleep.

A barrack. Six double beds in total. Not luxurious by any stretch, but it had a mattress and a blanket, so it will do just fine for tonight. It wasn’t the softest of beds and it sure wasn’t the widest. But for a few days, no problem. Unless Lily decides to crawl in next to you of course. In which case it will be a problem with space. And she did. But sleep found its way to you anyway

Until some time later. You find yourself stark awake. Someone is walking around in your room. The figure is walking towards your bed. Instinctively, you shift Lily’s body away from the possible threat, to shield her behind you

“The fuck are you?”
‘Shhh’ A man’s voice. ‘This is very, very important’
>Sleep is important
‘Your accent… m-miss Nibelung?’
>The fuck are you doing here? What do you want?’
‘Please miss, you have to come with me’
>I think you get away before s-... oh

The man holds some kind of… thing in his hand. It is too dark to make out exactly what it was

>He comes along too
“Lily, what’s going on?”
>We can trust this man

She turns away from you and towards the unknown man

>You, go outside, have a smoke or something. We will be out in 5 minutes
‘Of course’
>>
Amazingly, this little talk hasn’t woken up anyone else in the little room, so you were alone in admiring Lily’s lonely figure

>Anon.... right, you don’t have a uniform. Just get some clean clothes for me, please?
“Sure, just please tell me what’s going on”
>That man had something very, very few people has. I even think it didn’t belong to him, but he had it just to convince me to come along
“You’re still not really explaining anything”
>Okay, let’s put it this way. He managed to pick out my accent
“You don’t have much of an accent”
>No, that’s the point. He knew exactly who to look for, what to look for in me and he knew my name. It might be they don’t really give much about the Jagdpanzer…
“They want to speak with you?”
>Uhm… i’m not sure you have noticed, but even among my kind, i am a little special
“Somehow different from, say Natalya?”
>Let’s put it this way…

The newly awoken Lily struggles for balance as she tries to get into her uniform. You give her a hand, holding her steady. Another warm, sincere smile before she continuing her story

>So, how long does it take for a person to control their body?
“What?”
>When you are newborn, you can’t pick up a glass of water, drink from it, and then return ito to a table. You can’t control your hands well enough. Makes sense?
“Suppose it does”
>Now, like everyone else, i had to go through that process. But, i had to learn how to be in charge of a tank too
“Go on…”
>At first, you can’t control it more than any other person can. I’d even say 80% of the caretakers we encountered at the new base could even operate the electrical system properly
“So, it takes time to learn how the vehicle works? Makes sense… In a very strange way. And i’m guessing this isn’t something anyone can do? I mean, you can’t become a tank whisperer just because you want, right?”
>Maybe there is a bit of an… Initiation process that has to be done. After that, some starts bonding with their vehicles. Even if that was usually not required. No one in any of the allied armies was expected to do more than know first aid, maintenance and such. And… Verdammt this is turning into a history class. Let’s get our things and head out. I’ll tell you all i know within a day or two, alright?
“Okay, Lily. Just know i’m a little worried about this”
>We should be among friends. But… just in case…
“Handgun. You don’t think i left it in the Jagdpanzer, did you?”
>Good… Good. Well, come along then

Lily holds her hand out. An obvious and very cute move from her side. You take it in yours and starts moving out towards the much too cold november night
>>
‘Ah, miss, Nibelung.Good to see you. Now, please come along. You must understand we were very surprised to hear that anyone with your… name would pop up amidst this war’
>Thank him
‘You are a mechanic i take it?’
“That, commander of the Jagdtiger and… well, i started an engineering major, but there was a little war in the way. I’m Anon by the way”
‘Anon. Glad to see you are taking care of the miss’
>tsk… take care… But now, you said you were surprised in hearing my name. Have you not heard from no other Nibelung?”
‘Miss, you are one of two that we know for sure are in the country’
>Two? There was over 5000… Other one. Where?
‘Well, when i said for sure…’
>You’re getting on my nerves. Speak’
‘None of the Panzer IV we have found are Nibelung, and there are none of the Jagdpanzer IVs in the US, so-’
>That leaves Ferdinand and Jagdtiger, and i know the remaining two Jagdtigers are no where close
‘Yes… that is correct. One Ferdinand, or Elefant rather should be at the-”
>Should?
‘We are fairly sure it was under restoration a few months ago, but we haven’t heard much lately’
>For later, write everything you know and give it to me, i have someone who might help us a little
‘I don’t mean to sound depreciating, but we have very good people working on this, and i doubt you can do much more than currently is being done’
>Oh ye of little faith…

The little chat ended when you arrived at a new building. Externally, looking very unassuming. The inside was decorated more like a home than anything else. It had a personal touch to it that other buildings here. But someone who was very modest. Someone old

‘I’ll leave you for now. Jake should be in his room, wooden door, right side’
The strange man leaves and disappears into the night.

“Alright, Lil. Looks like you have made some friends. Wanna go?”
>Let’s do it. Just stay with me

You walk down the hall until you get to the door, and knock on it lightly

‘Come in, please’

The room was sparsely decorated, very functional. In a corner of it sat a man in a wing back chair. He really looked old. Wrinkly skin, thick glasses, thin white hair and a hoarse voice. Yet, he didn’t seem very fragile, or didn’t give that impression

‘Children, please sit down. I must apologize for waking you up at this time, but the situation calls for it. My name is Jake, and i am very interested in speaking with you. Anon, and Larissa Erika, correct?’
>Just call me Lily
‘Lily. Now, i must make absolutely sure you are who you say you are. You went through the Nibelungenwerke process?’
>I did
‘Now, you must understand, i was not in time for the last great war, but i was in Korea, and i witnessed the… incident that spurred the end of your kind’
“Huh?”
>Long story short, someone lost something dear to her, and used her M26 as a battering ram after she completely flipped. That caused most of the west countries to abandon the idea, and since the Soviets never really adopted it properly, it fizzled out in front line service
‘Prototypes and trial models used it until the 60s, last being the MBT-70’
“Oh yeah, speaking of. Wendy is alive and well. I helped her a little with transmission issues”
‘Wendy… Did she say anything else?’
“Yeah, i suppose she did. I was to ask for some kind of presents?”
>>
Despite you feigning complete ignorance in what the presents actually were, the man’s expression changed suddenly

‘Not yet. Or maybe at all. Now, Lily. You must forgive my curiosity, but with the infamy yo-’
>You people never stop speaking, do you? Get to the point, and keep it short
‘What sort of control do have over the Jagdtiger?
>Pretty much all of it. Gun aiming and firing, all of the electrics. And with the new engine, throttle, fuel mixture, boost pressure do to some clever turbo design. And all automotive components. Transmission, clutch and so on. Only thing i really can’t do it stuff like hatches and gun loading and so on
‘Do you take me for an idiot?’
>You ask, i answer. You doubt, i’ll show you. Wanna go wake people up?
‘It’s very important you take this very seriously, miss Nibelung. Because if you can do that it’s far beyond anything i’ve ever witnessed
>Tsk. It gets better. i Can do most of this while outside the vehicle. Jokes aside, i think you can blindfold me, and i’d still be able to turn the Jagdtigers engine on, rotate the thing a full lap, and then hit a target a target the size of a car at two kilometers. Five times in a row. If someone loads the gun, of course. Can’t do that myself.

The man leans back in his chair. He is trying to say something, but he doesn’t get anywhere

‘And you’re serious now?’
>Try me
‘I’ll make some calls. You can go to the kitchen. Take whatever you want. I’ll be back to you, but please stay inside’
Fifteen minutes later sit at the table opposite with some very simple 5 AM breakfast in between you. Lily is staring into the black liquid in her cup
>>
>So…
“Something on your mind?”
>He’s gonna be on the phone for some while. What i said to him…
“You didn’t lie, did you?”
>No, but even for someone like me, it’s kinda special. So, i’ll explain what i am, we are. All of it. All i can answer. But before i do that, just please…
“What is it?”
>It’s us, right?
“You’re still worried about me going away?”
>...
“Lily, listen to me, no look me in the eyes. Yes, there you are. Okay, i have your attention now. Lily, i am not going to leave you”
>Thanks. Just… can you remind me of that sometimes?
“Every day”

>Good. So, back in the first world war...

A couple of hours passed and a few beers had the chance to be cracked open and passed around before any wild boars appeared on the scene. Just a couple at first, rooting around in the piles of alfalfa and corn the group had set up around the two buckets. Then a few more showed up, and then more, until a rather large group was milling about, snorting and making a mess of the clearing. Alex peered out from behind the thicket and motioned for the other three to join him.

"Look on up there, looks like we got some company. Goddamn, Hank wasn't kiddin', them fuckers are all over." He unslung his AMD and leaned against a tree, taking aim at the nearest tannerite bucket. "We only got two buckets, and I call dibs on one. Which of ya wants the other?"

Dave looked over at Chris, looked somewhat excited for the first time that day. Smiling a little, he tapped her shoulder and shrugged, giving her all the indication she needed. She picked up her WASR and went up next to Alex, taking aim at the second bucket.

"So, uh, before we light them up, are you sure we're a safe distance away?"

"Yeah, we're fine. Should be, at least." He lowered his gun and stuck his arm out in front of him with his thumb extended, which Chris assumed was him gauging distance. "Yep. We're good. On my mark, 'cause if we don't time it right, some'a them sumbitches might get away."

"Alright, I'll wait on you then."

Alex levelled his gun once more, and counted down. "On my mark... three... two... one... shoot!"

KA-THOOMP
KA-THOOMP

The ground shook, clouds of dust were thrown up, and large meaty chunks of hogs were flung into the air, showering down along with a hail of dirt and gravel a few moments later. Cyka had been curled up and sleeping, but the little dog was now baying and howling like mad, attempting to strangle itself with its collar tied around the base of a thin tree.
>>
>>32927559

The hogs that were not caught in the explosions but were still nearby stumbled in the general direction of the treeline, while those further away had bolted the instant the rifles had cracked.

"YEEEEEEEHAAAAW!" screamed Alex in celebration, shaking his AMD in the air. "GIT SUM, YA SUMBITCHES!"

"Fucking hell!" shouted Chris, rushing back to grab Cyka before the beagle died of self-induced asphyxiation.

Dave, Sam and Alex rushed out into the clearing to examine the damage up close and put down any hogs that hadn't died clean. Sam fixed a bayonet to the end of her Mosin. "What now, bitch nigga? Huh? What now?" she said as she set upon any hogs that didn't look totally blown apart, stabbing them in the throat.

"Easy, Sam, easy. Don't wear yerself out now," said Alex, walking over and putting a hand on her shoulder and smirking.

Chris came running over with the squirming and noisy beagle in her arms, grinning at the destruction wrought upon the porcine pests. "Okay, I'll admit... up until now, I wasn't a huge fan of this trip... you got any more tannerite?"

"Nah. Just two buckets, Sam would'a broken her back carryin' any more." He playfully slapped between her shoulder blades, which caused her to punch him in the shoulder hard enough for him to wince.

"Just two? Well that sucks," said Chris, shoulders slumping a little.

"Don't look so glum. Now we got a bunch'a disoriented hogs runnin' around, easy pickin's. We can split up and get as many as we can before it gets dark, an' meet back up by Hank's house. Sound good?"
>>
>>32927578

"Yeah, sounds alright to us," said Dave. "There's no special tricks to it, right?"

"Naw, just remember to keep shootin' 'em 'til they stop movin'. Hogs can be right tough sumbitches." He turned his attention to the tattered remains of the upper half of a large boar. "Y'all go on ahead, me 'n' Sam'll be here for a bit, countin' heads so we can give Hank an accurate casualty report."

"Alright then, see you back at the house." With that, Dave and Chris settled on following a set of tracks into the forested portion of the property and seeing where it would bring them. Chris let Cyka back down onto the ground, and in an instant, he was pulling her along by his leash, following a scent.

I'm new to this concept you have.

What exactly is it? You posted a "main menu" screen with "new game" and all the normal fixings of a standard video game, but I gather this is different.

>>32928530
Is this some...adventure? Static written scene, like FF Tactics and their dialogue rewrite in War of the Lions?

And what's all this talk about score and the like?

(I'm sorry, I'm curious about literally everything you're doing)
>>
>>32930761

Evening, sorry it took so long to answer - it's a visual novel, so pretty much a click and read novel with art, music, etc! Some visual novels have choose your adventure elements, but mine is kinetic - so just one story path.

That scene right there was just a mashup of assets I had - the novel itself is a interwar based adventure novel focused on one character.

In terms of score - do you mean music?

I'm still writing DT. Scrapped like ten drafts for the latest installment, finally settled on something I think will work. Hopefully.

Maybe creating a series with unlimited scope, a truly massive ensemble main cast, and over a hundred years of detailed internal history was a bad idea.

Chapter Ten: Physical Pleasures.
>"So, Why can't we retire immediately?"
"Because I can't terminate my contract until payday. And some other things."
>"Michael, please? You can quit now, can't you?" She said, grabbing me and pulling my to her by the shirt. I looked down to Meet the most intense gaze she'd ever given me, incidentally followed by a pleading pout. "Please? I promise if you do, we'll both be chafed for the rest of our lives."
"That's not it, Katyusha. While it's tempting, and we'll probably still do that, company policy means that resignations take a month or so to process. In short, I've already quit, We're just caught up in paperwork 'till the end of the month."
>"So You just want to get in a last few contracts?" She asked,, dripping with sketpticism.
"If only I could be free of it today without massive penalties that would sideswipe all the plans I've made for our life after this."
>"How so?"
"Let's just call them legal and financial."
>"Well, what contracts can we take to minimize risks for that?"
"I've taken the liberty of having Sarah send me a few contract dossiers for that. I've got a couple that come straight to mind. One is a mid risk contract that involves some clearing of holdouts in the now mostly depopulated middle east, and another involving the use of aviation assets to provide support for a team while they call in targets."
>"Those two are the best?"
"Good pay, relatively low risk. I've got enough time and money to do these, and then, retire from merc work in april."
>"Well. I guess we could work on that. which one should we take?"
"I'm thinking the latter. It just seems so appealing."
>"Why?"
>>
>>32932981
"I get to Fly an A-10C." Truthfully how the company got an A-10C and kept it in good condition for fucking shit up and pulling G's is beyond me.
>"You know how to fly that thing?"
"When I was a kid, it was the coolest thing in video games. A study sim that made you learn how to ACTUALLY use the A-10C. If you read the manual, it was impossible to fuck up."

April 4 2019 10 AM.
>Ekatarina and I stood on the parking area next to an A-10C receiving the last of its armaments for the coming flight.
"She's a beauty alright. And I'm not just talking about the plane."
>"Well, you're only getting in one today. You got your Makarov?"
"Yes. The PB is ready to go."
>"And the challenge reply card?"
"Memorized. Look, I know, it fucking sucks that I can't bring you with me, but I can't fit you in the cockpit in either of your forms."
>"That's not it."
"Then what IS it?"
>"Look at me, stupid American cowboy." She said sharply, almost at a hiss. Drawing my eyes immediately. "You said you were done with this. I know I can trust YOU, but something about the ground team makes my skin crawl today. I don't trust them, they've been acting like scheming vermin all day. Look, I know you'll think something up, if they won't put me on during your return trip, don't come back, you understand?"
"Now that you mention it, something does seem off, but I don't think they'd do that. But... yeah, I'll think of something. I'm not leaving you to them if some shit goes down."
>"Ok, would have been sad if you didn't come to my rescue anyway. Three o'clock, twenty seconds." She said with a deep sense of agitation in her voice. I looked over to my right to see Sarah approaching
>"Sorry I'm late, I know it looks like you'll be stepping about ten minutes late... Why am I not surprised that you know how to fly this thing, Mikey?"
"Probably because as much as I've changed, I've only stayed the same the last ten years or so."
>"You've been briefed?"
>>
>>32932985
"Fly to the waypoints, check in with JTAC playboy and play the Game."
>I climbed into the cockpit for startup.
>A familiar hiss came to my ears, and as I had remembered from any time I heard it, it gave way to a huff and then a smaller hiss. This sound always gave me some form of physical pleasure, and brought anxiety in my mind to a halt.
>As I began the process I needed for the task at hand, I waited for the highest, loudest hiss of them to start, because the sooner it was over, the sooner I could enjoy the sedate hissing of the engines.
>It was a skill trained into me voluntarily to use this machine, I enjoyed it, and if left unchecked, I could be liable to fall asleep after startup when the APU shut down and left me with the sedate hissing of the engines, which always invited a calm, and a tendency to unwind, right there in the cockpit... until I throttled them up that is...
"Alright, lets keep thinking of thorns and pain until this fucker starts off the ground." I said to myself optimistically.

11:24 AM Command tent.
>Sarah and Ekatarina sat about in the command tent. Sarah decided to break the silence.
>"Hows Mike been at home, same old gloomy self?"
"I don't see how that's your business." Ekatarina answered, her irritation well masked behind a noncommittal tone.
>"He's one of my operators, maybe just a cog in the machine, but being a team leader, he's an important cog."
"He's been very happy since I've seen him at home."
>"I know THIS one's none of my business, but did you two..?"
"Like animals." Ekatarina said in the most flat and uninterested tone of voice she could create.
>>
>>32932991
11:42 AM
>Commands started coming through the radio and issuing simple attack orders, less in line with JTAC nine lines, and more on par with "See this, reference that, break the other thing."
>"Hey, Uzi, we got a compound over to the west, 2 clicks out to the northeast, heading 065, you can't miss it."
"I've got it. I'll put some dumb bombs in there."
>I extended for the pass and set the DSMS for the two bombracks that held MK82's, and made the pass, a couple 500 pound dumb bombs landing inside the compound and emptying my stores of all but two mavericks, a full load for the gun, and a couple AIM-9s.
>BEEPBEEPBEEPBEEPBEEP
>I looed at the RWR and ready the symbology as being that of a manpad.
>Deploy flares, maneuver, spook missle. repeat.
>As I found the source of these ancient stingers, I decided the proper course was to fire up that oh so sexy GAU-8.
>GUN ARM
>PAC 1 (first stage of the trigger pull)
>BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT
"Ah, I hate my job!" I said to myself, laughing at my own reference to something obscure even to me, somewhere behind years that would drench me in blood and terror, someone had said that exact thing.
>I watched as the people launching the missiles were disintegrated by high explosive 30mm, and pulled up to go to loiter.

2 PM
"Playboy, this is Uzi, Playtime is zero mikes, checking out."
>"Roger that, Uzi! Good luck out."
3:30 PM
>I landed on the field and dismounted the A-10 in a rather mundane fashion, meeting Sarah on the parking area.
"Wheres Ekatarina?"
>"She's in the command tent. Come on, she's waiting."
>As we reached the command tent, I saw Ekatarina struggling against a guard and a set of restraints
"Katyusha NO-" I manage to get out before feeling a rifle butt hit the side of my head and a prick at the side of my neck while a boot pins me by the chest. Everything is... getting... dark.

Loud And Silent.
Chapter 11: Tribulations.
>I awakened to the feeling of my head in a vise and the sound of EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ringing through my head.
>Time to ask the important questions... why did I agree to this again? Oh yes, Money. Can I see anything? There's a pale figure moving back and forth not far from me, if I have to guess, looks like a woman in a short skirt pacing, but I can't focus my eyes yet. Range? Five feet maybe?
>There's a draft in here... and something scratchy but... soft? And it's moving in strokes or thrusts, back and forth...
>Five seconds had passed.
>My eyes focus and I come to alert.
"What the FUCK!?" The first thing I actually hear came, my voice reaching my ears echoing up my skull. Realizing the real answers to my earlier questions about personnel in the room. A woman in a short skirt, ranged not at five to seven feet but two feet at the most, literally straddled on top of me.
>I try to headbutt my assailant only to have my neck slammed back by something as she arches her back, clenching her jaw and shuddering, a muffled moan traveling through my bones to my skull.
>As my throat strained and I coughed she bowed her head over me. I finally caught her gaze when I stopped coughing.
>"Ooh, you're a cute one, I love when they struggle." She said with a savage expression on her face "You haven't figured it out yet? Ooh, poor little Michael, You're at my mercy. You didn't HONESTLY think we'd leave your neck unrestrained HERE of all places, did you?" She said as she stood off of me, rolling her skirt down in the process.
>After she pulled her panties back up she turned to me, her dark brown hair shrouding her eyes down to her cheek bones. "If you struggle again I'll turn on the lights, would SHE like to see you like this?" She said, stepping to the side, revealing a tinted window, Ekatarina on the other side, wide eyed with a face of terror.
>>
>>32926766
>join the army, they said
>see the world, they said
>at least in the navy I'd be pitching
>>
>>32933807
>"What's that, baby? I can't hear you, you gotta speak up. Unless of course you WANT her to see you like this." She said in a mocking tone, as though speaking to an injured child.
"No."
>"Good, then it'll be our little secret." She said as she tapped a keypad near the door, opening it with a great deal of ceremony while she exited and pressed a button to close the door behind her, with a final. "I'd pull up my pants if I were you." before the door swung shut and a set of visually impressive locking lugs extended into the apparently several ton door.
>My restraints unlocked seconds later.
"Where am I? Why am I here? Why haven't they killed me already?" I mused to myself as I pulled up my pants and put together what just happened.
>Ninety seconds later the lights came on and I was in front of the window looking on. What had happened? Why was she spooked? It couldn't be the obvious. Weren't VDV trained to resist interrogation? The look of terror on her face seemed to subside to one of anger and hopelessness.
>Then it occurred to me that I was Naked from the waste up and had several scratch marks on my chest, none of which had come from her... those ones were on my back. As well, I had several that had appeared to actually be from a knife being dragged across my chest. come to think of it, felt like it too.
"I know where I am! Fuck! ARE WE IN THE TRUTH PIT?" I yelled to the no one in particular I figured was likely monitoring the room.
>A voice came over a speaker in my cell. "Yep."
"So, when does it become apparent why I'm here?"
>"Probably when you ask."
"Ask who?"
>"Careful what you wish for, Berdan."
"I've sent dozens of people here, haven't I?"
>"Yup, You've been something of a faceless legend around here for some time. If you give us what we want, whatever it is, you'll probably be free to go."
"This doesn't sound good. Legend has it I could be here indefinitely."
>"You mean fact. Don't worry, Alice likes you. you don't want to be one she doesn't like."

"If that's what she does to the prisoners she likes, I shudder to imagine what she does to the ones she doesn't."
>"Nothing."
"Oh so that was special treatment. I've heard rumors about this place from the people entrusted with escorting people here, but damn, I thought Alice was the torturer or something."
>"She is. But occasionally she sees a prisoner she likes every few months. You'll find out in time."
"So rapey Alice is gonna be my interrogator?"
>"Yup."
"Oh, that's cute, she thinks she can make me bond with her by raping me while I'm restrained and half conscious." I thought to myself, placing a hand on the glass and looking on at Katyusha. "But how to get to her-"
>"Gas him." I heard as a stream of vapor started pouring into the room from the top.
"Not again. Maybe it won't be so bad this time."

Time: Unknown
Date: Unknown
>I found myself in a dimly lit room sitting down, this time restrained by handcuffs, I looked up at the feeling of a warm hand stroking the stubble of my jaw. The tearing sound of the bristly hairs flexing and releasing under the skin of a soft hand.
"Sarah? What the FUCK is this about?"
>A hand rubbed my inner thigh, drawing my attention to Alice. "Oh, I can tell, I'm gonna have some fun with you two." she said, glancing over to Ekatarina, who was tied to the opposite wall about fifteen feet away.
"What do you want?"
>"Well, we want to know what THIS is." Sarah said, pulling out an evidence bag with a heavily bloodied object in it.
"It's a knife."
>"That's not what I want. You should probably stop the smartass act or I'll let Alice at you again."
"You were here the first time? You sick cunt, I swear to fucking god, I'll fucking kill you."
>"Ooh, I LOVE when they play their parts, can I keep him, Sarah?"
>"I'll fucking kill you, sabaka." Ekatarina growled from behind clenched teeth to Alice.
>"It's nothing personal. All you have to do is tell us what's on the knife and you two are free to go."
"Blood."

"'From WHAT' you ask, as though I know, you saw the helmet footage, I presume, you have about as good an understanding as I do."
>"Then why do the logs list them as SKINWALKERS?"
"The idea was to jokingly assign them a name and let the scientists deal with it."
>"You see, this doesn't explain a few things, How did you know you could take that thing? Why with a pistol and a knife? Why aren't you insane like all other cases of contact with this?"
"What the fuck are you talking about?"
>"You're the only one who was exposed who hasn't gone insane. Dick was committed on the 25th, Sophie was committed and managed to kill herself on the 28th, previous expeditions have never shown exposure to these things without insanity following."
"So We're the only two who haven't started pulling out our hair and swinging from the ceiling fan? Is that it?"
>"Yes. Because of these two notable facts, you two being sane after more than a week, and the fact that you killed one of them without flinching is enough to gather a great deal of attention young man. Why did you think previous expeditions returned halfway through the state?" A third figure stated entering the room.
"And who are YOU? The company shrink? OH FOR FUCKS SAKE, YOU TOO?"
>"Yes, Michael. I'm the psychologist. Now... Keel, is it REALLY necessary to have Alice present for this? This is an interrogation, not a rape."
>"It's not?" Alice asked, evidently disappointed.
>"We turn a blind eye to your 'activities' so long as you don't cost the company money, and your particular appetite for control has saved us money, though I don't think it's gonna work on mister Berdan. You can go now, or I could have some documentation sent to corporate if you'd like." He threatened. Alice left the room gesturing to Ekatarina and I with her tongue, grabbing nothing but scowls from prisoners and psychologists alike. The only person not visibly angered by her presence or the manner of her exit being Sarah.

Since it has been awhile, I'll start posting from when Anon first got back to his apartment with the rose.

(Previously on Damaged good Chapter 4: Memories)

>You had decided to walk back to the apartment from the florist; the bus wasn’t worth the wait for a 20 minute walk, even in these temperatures

>The apartment building was, well… not very nice
>The building itself was built just prior to WWI, and hadn’t seen any renovations (outside of what was legally required) since
>The area it was located in also wasn’t the either best, but as long as you weren’t wandering around in the wee hours you were fine
>By far, the worst part was the heating situation… The original radiators were still in use (and probably the original boiler as well), which are normally fine, but living on the top floor meant that the steam had cooled down significantly by the time it reached you, leading to many chilly nights

>So why live in this shit hole?
>Well, with rent being less than a quarter of the price as on campus living, you couldn’t afford not to...

>Ascending the creaky stairs to the fifth and final floor, you make your way down to the door marked 519, dark green paint flaking off which each use

”Rach-” you begin, forgetting that the apartment is no longer occupied by two
>That's going to take getting used to…

>The apartment wasn’t small by any means, but it wasn’t exactly what you would call large either, so yelling was hardly necessary to get someone's attention
>The entrance fed into the living room, which had a small kitchen area branch off of it, as well as a short hall leading to a bathroom and your modest bedroom
>A small, single pane window in the living room was your only source of natural light

>Burying your emotions, you head for your bedroom closet where you have stored the 1903, trying to imagine what you are possibly going to say to… it

>You don’t even make it three steps in before you realize the rifle won’t be found in the closet
>>

(Previously on Damaged Goods Chapter 4: Memories)

>A mass of blankets was huddled against the living room radiator near the window; long strands of reddish chestnut hair creeping out the top of the pile
>Quivering ever so slightly

“Uhh… hello?” you ask, approaching it, hiding the rose behind your back

>Slender, pale fingers slide up from the inside of the pile, pulling the blankets down just over the bridge of the geist's nose
>Jade eyes peering out at you

“Oh… are you cold...?” you said, only realizing how painfully obvious that observation was after it left your mouth

>The geist’s eyes narrow, giving you an expression of, “are you serious?”

“Right, that was stupid... Look, about what I said yesterd-”

>”It’s true, every word of it.” the geist started. “A rifle that can’t be used really is good for nothing.” it’s voice barely more than a whisper

“Well-”

>”You don’t have to sugar coat it, it is what it is.” it finished very matter-of-factly

“Err…”

>You were already having a tough time coming up with a proper apology, but now you had nothing at all

“...”

>The geist’s gaze remained on you a while longer, before slowly returning to the floor, a hint of defeat lingering on its face

>Squatting down to eye level with the geist, you bring the rose out from behind, giving it a quick twirl
>It’s not all that impressive; the bulb is rather small, and barely in bloom
>It hardly had any fragrance

>But you can’t deny that color...

“Still though…” you say, extending the rose out

“I’m, uhh... sorry, for what I said before...”

>"Now, Mike. We can be nice and cordial, you can explain at least how you knew you could take on that thing and why you figure you might not be insane, or we can arrange to have you two picked up and taken to some institute for scientific research and dissection, but of course, not before leaving BOTH of you to Alice for her own amusement for a few months beforehand." Sarah prodded. "She really seems to like you, and it's taken some pretty heavy convincing thus far to keep her from going after dessert over there. I can't guarantee that for more than another couple days if you don't cooperate." She added, nodding her head toward Ekatarina.
"If I'm telling you this shit, I want your WORD. If you let that fucking cunt ANYWHERE near Ekatarina, you're digging your own graves."
>"Fair enough."
"Humans don't just see skinwalkers and stay sane. Then again, it could be that everyone else who did it was insane to start with and just lost their composure when they saw them."
>"All 126 of them?"
"Well if that's the case, possibly."
>"Whole expeditions have been wiped out by this, take the issue seriously or Alice is coming back and starting on Ekatarina first." The psychologist stated.
"Stranger shit has happened. Ever heard of the Dyatlov pass incident?"
>"No. Elaborate."
"Nine Russian hikers set up camp in the mountains, they all flee their tent undressing as they do so and freeze to death, the one woman on the trip is found with her tongue gone when they eventually DO find them. No one has yet explained to any satisfaction what happened to them. I think these might be the same type of animal. People see them, their minds unravel, probably owing to some inherent trait of all human psyches."
>"Then why is it that you and that rifle saw it and neither of you is insane. She's a rifle so we can chalk that up to observed differences between-..." The psych paused with a look of consternation on his face.
>Sarah looked upon him in disbelief, figuring what leap he'd made.

>The spirit’s eyes shot up, locking onto the deep red bulb

>”A…. rose?” confusion in its voice

>It doesn’t reach out for the offering or anything; only staring at it

“Yeah, you know to show that I… I… uh.” you mutter, fully aware of how ridiculous this must look

>You are giving a rose to a virtual stranger, what is essentially your gun, as an apology
>Aren’t roses only supposed to be a symbol of love or something…?

“I…” you start once more, still fighting to find the right words

“...”

“have no idea what I’m doing…”

>”H-huh?”

>You give no response
>Letting out a long sigh, you stand back up, placing the rose on top of the luke warm radiator

“I’m hungry, tired, and need to shower…” you say to no one in particular

>”O-okay then…”

>Doing an about face, you march off to the bathroom; a sense of defeat hanging over you

“What are you doing, man…” you murmur to yourself. “What the fuck are you doing…”
>The warm water streaming down your face does little to soothe your mind

>Finals are drawing closer, you’re newly single, and now flat out broke with nothing to show for it but a mysteriously broken rifle
>And to top it all off, you know all you have waiting for you in the kitchen is some generic boxed macaroni
>Maybe you will find some butter for it if you are lucky
>Gotta love the taste of poverty

“...”

>You had no business spending that money on a gun and you know it, even if it did work
>You’re shitty bookstore job didn’t get you the hours to keep up with more besides food and rent either

>Not that you had the time to take more anyway
>And now that Rachel is gone, things are going to be even tighter

>The water pressure dips in and out as the shower head sputters

“...”

>You could sell it, maybe even turn a profit if you find someone just as ignorant as you were
>Non-shit food for a month sounds good right now
>A little whiskey wouldn’t hurt either...

>Letting out another sigh, you crank off the shower, the warmth quickly escaping

>Less space for the radiator in there to have to heat after all
>Grabbing a pair of sweats and your hoodie off the radiator you decide it is time to go and make “dinner”

>Heading to the kitchen, floor boards creaking all the way, you spot your 1903 still huddled by the radiator, blanket now pulled up over its’ head
>But something else catches your eye...

**FS: National Ordinance 1903A3**

>You had finally decided to take a break from studying to type out the Armslist ad

**Flawless finish, crisp trigger, immaculate stock. $400 OBO.**

>Short, sweet and to the point
>You hover the cursor over the “submit” button
>It’s not lying if you simply leave out information...right?

*CRASH*

>The sound of something shattering in the kitchen causes you to nearly drop your laptop

>Looking over to the source of the noise, you see the geist of your 1903 frozen in place; shattered ceramic and spilled coffee covering the hardwood floor
>An open hand trembling

“Uhh… what the Hell was that?” you say in an overtly annoyed tone

>”I-I don’t know…” it said, staring at its open palm

>You were so drawn into your studies that you hadn’t even noticed it going into the kitchen
>This is really the first good look you have gotten at the geist; having spent most of its short stay in your apartment either in the closet, or huddled up by the radiator

>It seems to be about the same height as you… standing about 6 feet tall, wearing a rather old looking white dress, an old brown knit quilt adorning its’ shoulders
>Yellowed from age and fraying slightly on the edges, the skirt stopped just below her knees
>Scuffed leather knee-high boots, cracking from age running up her legs

>Its’ skin was quite pale as well, but in a sickly looking way; bags and slight dark spots under its eyes expressing fatigue

>”I just… it… m-my hand…” its’ frustration becoming obvious

>Hopping out of your seat, you jog to the kitchen to grab some towels

>”I can get it mys-”

>”...why would have coffee if you don’t-”

“It wasn’t mine, got it?”

>It was an honest question, but not one that you felt like answering
>Rachel was the coffee drinker… dark roast, no cream and just a single teaspoon of sugar
>She even used an old french press she got from the thrift store, a true hipster if you ever knew one
“...”

>You knew you were being a dick, but with all of the other shit going on in your life you hardly cared if a gun didn’t like you
>With any luck you won’t have to deal with this headache too much longer, even if you get low-balled, you still might make some extra ca-

>”I wasn’t always so worthless you know.” the geist cut you off, trembling hand now clenched into a fist
>”I was strong, I had purpose… I had a duty to carry out and I carried it out well!”

>What you thought were going to be tears from the geist turned into anger, frustration

>”And after all of that they had the nerve to toss me into this sorry excuse for a receiver?!” it said, run its’ hands up and down its’ shapely figure

>Not expecting this outburst, you fumble for your next words

“Wha-”

>”And I know, I KNOW I should have said I didn’t work before you bought me, but…”

>It took a moment to collect itself; anger washing off its face, being replaced by sadness

>”I couldn’t bare the thought of being locked up in some safe again for decades at a time... I know I was being selfish, but being confined like that for so long is close to torture for us...”

>Taking one deep breath, it finished with

>Jay told you that geists have feelings, but you never expected them to be so human
>Its expressions, body language, mannerisms and raw emotion all pointed to being human
>Hell, the only way you would know it’s a geist is because you’ve seen it shift forms

“It’s...”

>And now you’re painfully aware of how much of a dick you’ve really been to it

“I don’t think I could really blame you.” you say, a bit sheepishly. “Being locked up in a safe like that doesn’t sound very pleasant.”
>”Y-yeah…”

>You gather up the remaining bits of the shattered mug and discard them, trying to buy some time to think of what to say next

“So, did your last owner shoot you too much, and that's why you don’t work?”
>Smooth…

>”Oh, um, not exactly… he only took me out once after he bought me, but the ammo he used was too much for my current receiver.”
“Current receiver? “ you start, a bit confused, “You mean that's not your first?”
>”It’s... complicated, but no, I was first made on a Springfield receiver, ma- err...” it suddenly started tripping over its own words
“What?”
>”I’m not sure how you want me to refer to you... is sir or master oka-”
“God no,” you say cutting it off, “that’s not necessary; just call me Anon.”
>”Anon…” it repeated back to itself

>You swear you saw a tiny grin for only a moment

“Speaking of which, what should I call you?”
>”Well, that’s up to you ma- Anon.”
“You’ve never had a name…?”
>”I’ve had a couple; it’s considered disrespectful to our previous and current owners to ask to go by an old name.”

>”Anon?
“Yes?”
>”I mean no disrespect,” the 1903 shuffles in place nervously, “but I’m your first gun, aren’t I?”

“Is it that obvious?”

>The geist lets out a playful laugh; suddenly clutching its lower left abdomen, wincing
In discomfort

“Is there I can get you or…?”
>”No, I’ll be fine it’s just my receiver…”

>The geist starts heading to the couch, gingerly taking a seat
>Walking even a short distance seems to take quite a bit of effort for it

“You never really told me why it is you can’t shoot you know.”

>”My chamber”
>Waving its free hand, the spirit beckons you over to the the couch to sit next to it

“Err, okay.”

>Taking a seat, you get a slight whiff of the 1903
>The unforgettable smell of old mil-surp fills your nostrils; it’s not bad, but surely not pleasant

>Brushing its long hair away from the back of its’ neck: cold, clammy fingers taking your hand

>”Like this.” it says in a gentle tone, placing your hand on the back of it’s neck

>In a flash, you are suddenly grasping the hand guard of your 1903A3

>Pulling back the bolt you start inspecting the innards of the rifle, using your phone light to get a better look

“I have no idea what I’m supposed to be lo- oh...”

>The source of the geists discomfort was now very apparent
>Towards the front of the receiver, you could see stretching, deep grooves forming in the steel, as if it were being pulled apart

“I see.”

>Gently, you close the action and place the rifle back on the cushion, allowing the geist to change back

>“The people who made my current receiver used inferior steel; every shot my last owner put through me was incredibly painful… I was lucky he stopped when he did.”
>"After hearing my complaints and warnings, he threw me back into storage... I was only out of the factory for a few days at that point."

>You both sat in silence for a moment, not quite sure where to go from there

...

>”Although,” finally breaking the silence, “having my receiver fail may have been preferable to being forgotten about in the back of that safe…”
“How long were you in there, before the estate?” you asked, unsure if that was a rude question

>The geist pondered for a moment

>”He only ever took me out once the first year he bought me, so 40, 50 years maybe…”
“W-what!?”

>50 years
>50 fucking years in a dark, steel box; you can’t comprehend the absolute Hell that would entail...
>The mental torture alone... you’re surprised the spirit hadn’t been driven to insanity

>And now here it sits in your cold, dingy apartment, hunched over in pain, lacking all purpose or meaning

Damaged Goods Chapter 4 (cont.)

“I’m… I’m really sorry.”
>Placing a hand on its shoulder, you give it a reassuring squeeze

>”It’s not your fault; these burdens are my own to bare. I should be the one apologizing for dragging you into my problems.”
“It’s… just money.” you say, obviously forcing the words

>The spirit's eyes narrow at you, obviously picking up on your lie
>”I’ve seen the inside of your pantry, it's not “just money”...”

>Leaning back into the couch, the geist closes its eyes, still clenching its’ side

“So your receiver, that's the source of all these issues?”

>The spirit nodded, eyes remaining closed

>”The pain comes and goes, I’ll be okay soon enough.”

“...can I fix it?”

>The psychologist looked to Sarah, who looked at him as though he didn't even need to say the next sentence for the preposterous nature of it to fill the room.
>"No, he isn't. He can't be." Sarah stated.
>"How do you know?"
>"I've known him since he was a teenager, he's aged so much since then, weapons don't do that, not unless they will it, that'd be the most elaborate ploy I've ever witnessed, he had PARENTS, AND FAMILY, he has a sister, and a common last name with everyone." Sarah began listing
>"Michael, is what she's saying true. You're not..." He trailed off cuing me to answer.

With a sigh I answered, noting the alarm on Ekatarina's face as I started out. "It's not quite what you'd expect in that it's not a yes OR no on that. It's both."
>"You... Huh? You know, I told you I'd bring back Alice-"
"Uncuff me, I'll show you."
>This would work wonders either way. If I was lying, they'd bring back Alice, who'd likely give me an opening to break out at a later time. If I was telling the truth, They'd either take me at my word, or uncuff me and give me the opportunity to use the R1.
>"Fuck it." Sarah said, releasing me from my restraints. I summoned the rifle and brought it to bare on the psych.
"See. I told you I'd show you. I've lived up to my end, now will you live up to yours?" I said, raising the R1 to his clavicle.
>"Well, given this power, we can't go public with this. A male geist's psyche withstanding a skinwalker isn't remotely news worthy. We'll have to let you two go free."
"Can you release Ekatarina then?"
>Sarah walked to Ekatarina and released her from her restraints before recoiling and falling to the ground coughing.
>A small part of me remaining from before the zone wanted to ask what gives, but I decided against it, since I knew well what side I was on.
>"We apologize for the misunderstanding." said the old man.
"Who's fault is this?"
>"I take full responsibility. You understand what we thought."
"Yeah. That you could make money."

>Sarah led Ekatarina and I out to the front where a helicopter waited, flying us to what was supposed to be the outpost that people coming and going from the truth pit were interchanged at.
>"Look, Mike. For what it's worth, I'm sorry I put you in there."
"I'm retiring from the company, in case you didn't know. If I ever see you again, I'm not gonna be as merciful as Ekatarina was in the interrogation room."
> Sarah hung her head in shame for the betrayal she had partaken of, and the objects of that betrayal. She'd have to live with my lack of sympathy over her trapping me for what was to be physiological experimentation. Only by the grace of the need to cover this up to avoid damages to name did she still have her head, which I was fully prepared to ventilate in a violent escape.

>A voice came from the cockpit that shook everyone from their stewing in anger, shame and indignation.
>"Birdstrike! RPM is fucked! WE HAVE TO AUTO ROTATE, EVERYONE GRAB SOMETHING AND HANG ON!" came the scream from the cockpit.
>The helicopter began to fall under us toward the now highly accelerated dirt.
>"Brace for impact!" came the shout from the cockpit.
>In an instant I felt myself out of control, forces of acceleration giving no effect on me, but for the forces of impacts tossing me about the cargo bay of the the helicopter.

>I finally came to a rest, opening my eyes would have been too much effort, this day, seemingly in the middle of it, around noon when we left would have to be put on hold until I could catch my breath.

That's the end of chapter 11, as always, tell me what you think, Now I can go on and read some LT.Col and some RFL. Thanks in advance.

Seargent Ramirez checked the sight lines on his rifle. All clear. Wind was blowing southwest at a velocity of 6 mph, and with a slight movement of his hand he adjusted the rifle to compensate for drift and windspeed. He calculated the distance to target, the ballistic drop of his bullet, and factored in the Bernoulli effect. All was clear, and all he had to do was take the shot. His spotter, Jenkins, announced the distance to target: 1.3 miles away. His name: Omar Khadr.

The nuclear attack on Moscow left the world shaking. Many were relocated to surrounding cities, one of which was Saint Petersburg, which also become the new capital of Russia. The retaliation from the Russian Armed Forces was nothing short of destructive, hell being rained down upon the Ukrainian soil as the missile’s origins were traced perfectly to a launch site just south of Chernobyl. It also called for an increase in counter-terror operations, one of the leaders, being a recently reinstated VDV sergeant, now promoted Captain in the FSB, Russia’s elite police.

This is her story.

Exclusion Zone [Chernobyl], Ukrainian Union
July 7th, 2045
1700 +3 UTC (MSCW)
VDV-FSB Joint Task Force;
[OF-2] Captain Kuznetsov, Annushka

A quick raid was called, plans drawn up and sonitnwas executed. Mi-44Us flew silently through the day, their blades simply moving too fast to be heard on the ground below. It was a rather quick flight anyways, taking off from Stalingrad and making their way to their destination with a steady flight. The captain would hold up her hand, the blue glow of her eyes simply lighting up the artificial skin upon her metallic limb. Her fingers would wiggle, as if still adjusting to the feeling of being cybernetic, despite having the body for about 5 years now since her accident in Hong-Kong.

A hand rested on her shoulder, which would grab the android’s attention. She was met with that surprisingly ageless friend of her’s, the one that was in the same shape as Annushka, Nadine. The infamous Serb renown for her exceptional brute force and unconventional interrogation techniques. Their blue eyes met for a second and Annushka would smile, caressing the hand on her shoulder with her cheek. “Hmm... Always there for me, huh?” Nadine would simply nod, reaching back and pulling her silver hair out from its tight ponytail, allowing it to splay around her shoulders.

{Gotta post second part separate}
>>
>>32953743
“Annushka… I know that look, you think I wouldn't have learned it… But, I've known you for quite sometime.” The Serb would chuckle before sitting next to her companion, leaning against the captain with closed eyes.

Annushka would simply sigh and part of her arm would hug around her friend’s head, “Yes… You know what I'm thinking then, don't you?”
“I'd be lying if I said no. You're concerned about your leg not responding again, aren't you?”
“The thought certainly terrifies me.”
Nadine would shift herself to face Annushka, head slightly tilted. “If you don't think about the bad stuff that could happen, they won't occur.”

“Hm… I suppose you're not wrong.” There would simply be another sigh, the raven haired android reaching above and grabbing her AK-147, a repurposed, integrally-suppressed, bullpup AK variant that fires supersonic 9x39mm HEDP ammunition. The rifles themselves were outfitted with tritium sights, a parralax free, integrated RDS with a battery life of up to 21 days constant. The recoil was redirected downwards, much like the older Vectors but the same gas piston stayed, making for quite the unique and ergonomic weapon.

This weapon was certainly different from the ones that Nadine and Annushka carried almost 30 years prior, but it was the new multipurpose rifle of the modern age. The heavy, large cartridges allowed for marksman and automatic support, making it easy for sharpshooters like Annushka to win just about every firefight.
>>
Thoughts?
>>
I probably need to refine my description of the rifles.

You do a lot of tell rather than show

>Nadine. The infamous Serb renown for her exceptional brute force and unconventional interrogation techniques

That's an example right there. It feels tacked on and out of place. But you do show some skill, the very next sentence is a good way of describing someone's features without just going down a list.

I'm writing something and I have a small question: what would have been a common rifle that would have been owned and used by criminals, specifically the poorer black criminals, in the southern states of america in the 20s and 30s?
Or should I just stick with the old double barrel shotgun?

I like the idea of the story, but this ^^^ just sounds really weird.
A cartridge thas was made to be subsonic, made with a tandem lead-steel core, used as a supersonic HEDP cartridge.
It's cool, but weird. Why not just use 7.62x39? Needed the bullet lenght for the HEDP load? And...(insert ramblings about the HEDP concept).

>>
>>32954515
It was an odd idea I had. I figured since this is about 20+ years down the road and our advancement into firearms is rapidly increasing, the Russians would find a way to impliment new ammunition (or even ammunition type) as well as increasing the durability/effectiveness of suppressors.
It was one of those, "brain-storming" type things that I was doing though, went with it and the idea seemed fitting. I may tweak the idea a bit and add/remove some things.
>>
>>32955022
I tend to do perspectives of my main character. So, these are Annushka's thoughts and opinions. But I need to make sure I am keeping a straight forward point of view instead of mixing it up and doing things like this.

Chapter 12: From The Ether/The Hard Earth.
>I woke up and looked into my surroundings, I found I was in a dark surround with only a silvery stream shining into what had to be essentially a metal box. I felt fine, save for some scrapes and scratches, which didn't bother me.
"Гдe я? Я бyдy пpoвepять нa члeнoв экипaжa и пaccaжиpoв"
>I slowly crept around the darkened cavity checking on crewmembers first, finding only cold corpses, layered in congealed blood and pale skin turned gray, eventually I got to the passengers, finding first, a woman still fastened to her seat.
"Я нe знaю, пoчeмy, нo ты мeня cepдитcя." I said to the pale vessel that once contained a soul and a living mind, evidently having left her sometime about twelve hours ago when she apparently broke her neck, collar, right shoulder, and a few other bones that aren't important to the situation.
>I moved toward the back to find another passenger, this one still living, if unconscious. He had greasy dirty blonde hair that had clearly turned green since his last shower, his chest rose and fell rhythmically, slowly, but surely. He was covered in scratches and bruises, having evidently been tossed around the cargo bay in the impact.
>I gave him a quick once over and decided he was likely in good enough condition that he'd wake up at some point, before searching out an exit, and dragging him through it.
>We, rather I, set up camp about three hundred yards away, the ground was cold and semi hard, I pilfered some shelter halves, a Makarov PB, a box of loaded 9X39MM rifle magazines, a few loaded 9mm pistols of various types, some survival rations, and some basic MREs from the wreckage. From a couple timepieces I scavenged from the wreckage, I gathered that it was 11:48 PM of the 16th.

"Кaк я cюдa пoпaл? Гдe я? Moжeт быть, oн мoг бы cкaзaть мнe, ecли oн нe cпит." I say, looking at the unconscious man. I decided to check him for identification, finding what I was looking for in his dogtag on his neck. I found I couldn't read the tag, since it seemed to be in... English?
"Aнглийcкий? Гдe в миpe я?"
>I could go back for the rifle or I could get some sleep. So I'll get some sleep.

6:24 AM
>I woke up to the sun beginning to light the sky. The air was frigid. Come to think of it, how would that man feel right now if he was awake?
>I looked to where I had set him and found to my surprise he wasn't where I had left him.
>I scanned the horizon and saw nothing.
>"Sleep well?" Came a voice from behind me
>As I turned to meet the voice I saw the man I had dragged out of the crash sitting behind me against a tree, the calm gray eyes meeting me with a rueful half smile.
"Ктo ты?"
>"I'm Michael, don't you remember?" he answered.
"Mихaил?"
>"вы зaбыли вы гoвopитe пo-aнглийcки?" He finally understood.
"Я нe гoвopю пo-aнглийcки, вы дoлжны имeть мeня пyтaть c кeм-тo eщe."
>"ХA! Oни дaли вaм кoнфyзopы." he answered, as though he wasn't surprised.

>"Лeкapcтвa, кoтopыe yхyдшили пaмять, oни cтиpaтьcя чepeз нeкoтopoe вpeмя, нo вы дaжe знaeтe, кaк вы cюдa пoпaли?"

>"Дa, нo чтo-тo пpишeл paньшe? Или этa мaлeнькaя живoпиcнaя кapтинa вaш миp?"
"Я ... Я нe пoмню." I said, realizing there was something to this maniacal tapestry he wove with his words.
>"Bы бyдeтe пoмнить кaждyю вeщь в тeчeниe нecкoльких чacoв, нo вы хoтeли бы кpaткoe oбъяcнeниe?" He probed.

"Пoчeмy мы были тaм?"
>"Я yбил живoтнoe. Oни хoтeли бы знaть oб этoм."

"Who will come?"
>"Ah! Good, I see English has come back to you."
"English... So I do speak it."
>"To answer your last, Mercs. Now, they don't send out search teams to RESCUE the prisoners in the event of a crash. I've dealt in this area before. The people from the prison don't get any communication from the outside and it's entirely unheard of and is never logged when a prisoner is released from the truth pit. How long have we been crashed?" He asked, evidently not concerned with my comprehension of the backstory
"Since about ten yesterday morning to noon yesterday, judging by the state of decay on the corpses."
>"So that's about 16-18 hours. We'll eat later, for now we have to move, help me pack up."
"So what DO they send out the search teams for?" I asked, packing my sleeping bag, into the shelter half and making a pack out of it, handing him half the MRE's and survival rations as I packed."
>"Like I said, not prisoners. Not rescue in the first place either, they can't have crew or prisoners escaping and telling someone in the world what happens in there, what's available. That's why in the contract you give up the right to life if you deviate from course on the way between class E facilities and their external checkpoints. Hand me those mags." he said, as he was finishing packing the food and water.
"But why? I couldn't find the rifle they work in. Do you have it?"
>As he heard this remark his face stretched into a smile that seemed to say 'If only you knew..." or indicate that I was being silly before flexing to a thoughtful expression on how to justify taking them. "If we leave evidence, they'll know someone was here, I'll take them." He stated after what seemed to be five seconds of thought.
>>
>>32955556
"Where will we go?"
>"To that Hill." he said, pointing to a hill in the east and beginning to walk, keeping his head on a graceful swivel.
"So... Do you know where we are?"
>"I managed to take a look at the pilot's charts while you slept. If that hill in the east is PRECISELY the one I think it is, we'll know exactly where we are."
"And what does that mean for us if you can figure that out?"
>"Well. There are certain facts of life. We're in the clear because no one going into the truth pit as a prisoner ever comes out, and we aren't on the aircraft manifest. in short, if we get out of the area, don't get picked up by the search teams, we'll live. it's not uncommon for the aircraft heading in to have unarmed crews and no survival supplies, so they won't think too hard about a few missing pistols, emergency rations, and the like. In fact, from having taken a few people there myself, they don't even manifest prisoners going in. We were never in the truth pit, we never went through the exterior checkpoint, basically, the truth pit has never, does not, and will never exist." He explained as we continued through the woods. "Furthermore, no one who's been stationed there is aware of the existence of such a facility, nor would they be disposed to discuss such a facility if it did in face exist." He amended in a scratchy voice that seemed to reflect a grizzled veteran having come to the full state of disillusionment caused by the darkness of his profession.
>The walk continued on for eight hours until we stopped at the foot of the hill, the ground inclined at a shallow angle.
>"Here seems like a good place to stop." He finally said.
"About time you say something, Mikhail. Aren't you hungry?"
>"Yes, but that could wait while we got our asses clear of the wreck and I wanted to get FAR away from that shit before I even thought of food."
>>
>>32955552
it is always more helpful to correct a writer if he makes a mistake in his story than to say you stopped reading because of a mistake.
>>
>>32955560
"What would be the response time on those search teams?"
>"They wait a day, so they're probably getting there right now. Gives the crew more of an impression that they were hard to find and that the rescue team worked hard to get to them. Then they gather the crew together before they shoot them and stuff'em in bags."
"How do you know all this?" I inquired, sensing I might regret getting an answer as I pulled out the survival rations.
>"Well, katyusha. To answer your question, I was on those parties once or twice or maybe ten to fifteen times. These fucking idiots they trust with helicopters are more often quiet people than competent pilots. They take many risks that are beyond retarded, like trying to fly the helicopter through a canyon like a plane with a good thrust to weight ratio. Only helicopters can't pull like planes can, their operating principles don't lend themselves to that at a good speed like a hundred and fifty. That one came from the lone survivor of a wreck caused by a pilot in a huey trying that, which was good until he got a few pulls into the joyride and the 'Jesus Nut' snapped, sending it into a shallow impact in the side of a hill. Speaking of, the one we're climbing SHOULD be 'Big Frog' summit. if so, we'll be surrounded by towns we can reach tomorrow or the day after. If it is, we should be able to see McCaysville about nine miles out."
"How long to reach it?"

Alright time for more RFL, this one's a bit shorter

>Suspended between the branches is a small cabin made of bones, a moose skull hanging right above it
>You swivel around, searching for the creature that's stalking you
>All you can see is the trees, some shrubs, and the mountains in the background
>Even though the feeling you're being watched isn't there, you feel on edge
>After a few minutes you gather yourself and continue on
>Is this creature really getting to you?
>It can't be, you were born with thick skin. There was barely anything that could scare you
>You press on, slowly and tentatively, listening for the signs if something is following you
>many times you think you hear something and pivot around and aim in that direction, only to see there's nothing there
>While crossing a stream you hear something rustle a bush behind you and swing around, standing in the icy snowmelt that makes up the rushing water
>Eventually a squirrel peaks out of the bush and scampers up a nearby tree
>you relax slightly and wade out of the water to change your socks and pants into something dry
>A few times you have the urge to let Lilly change back into human form to talk with her, but you don't dare
>That what it must want right? Yeah, it wants you to let Lilly be in human form, then it'll jump out at you when you can't bring her to bear as quickly
> You shake that thought from your head and continue on, hiking along with Lilly in your hands ready to put another round into whatever it was
>As the day progresses and the afternoon wares on you finally stop in a relatively flat part of the forest
>It's not open like last nights meadow, but you're so exhausted from the hike and the constant being on your toes your body is giving you no choice but to camp here
>After laying your pack and Lilly down the two of you soon go out to collect firewood
>After multiple trips you decide you have enough wood to last the night and build the fire, using birch bark as kindling

>"Probably a good day or two. If I'm being honest, Everything aches. It's been a hell of a day."
"You're not wrong, Dorogoy. I started out of the wreck dragging a perfect stranger I'd never seen before. Now I remember everything. What did Sarah mean in the pit?"
>"Huh?" he said, his face falling into a frown of introspection and sorrow.
"Why the face? Michael? Are you okay? What's wrong?"
>"It's just a... everything before the zone seems so far away. Before the draft, the zone, the company. Everything from a time but a couple years past. Every ONE I knew. They're all dead. I just... hadn't thought about it until now." He said, the frown contorting ever deeper as he thought into his past, the calm gray eyes that seemed to change color inside the iris every time he changed a shirt changing to red outside the iris, as all that connected him to the root of his identity, the base that his world had built on receded before his eyes into mere memories.
"I know. It's happened twice now, hasn't it? The beginning of your world and everyone associated with it, every meaningful fragment of it, has finally been ground to dust." I said, embracing him. I could empathize with him. The same thing that had happened to him in Rhodesia, and once again in California had been what happened to me in the soviet union, an odd experience to say the least. Even if one did struggle in the place that made up the core of their world, it was always a hard experience when a geist or a person realized they'd lost all link to the place from which they came. Whether they loved the place or wished they'd dropped the bombs themselves.

That's possibly it for tonight, don't hesitate to tell me how you like it.

>you lean down and plant a kiss on the top of her head
"I know this is stressful and a bit scary, but I'm glad you're here by my side Lilly" you say
>the only response you get is a pleasant purr and her snuggling closer into you
>Soon she falls asleep and you're left alone with the sounds of the fire, and her breathing
>As time passes you notice a soft crackling and popping noise in the air and look up towards the canopy
>through the break in the trees you see a stunning display of the northern lights
>entranced by the dancing greens, purples, and reds of the aurora borealis you feel calmer
>The show goes on for hours, with the vibrant colors of the sky dancing and swaying gently across the night sky, lighting up the night with its beauty, like it is wanting the attention of all creatures to gaze upon it
>You check your watch and realize your shift is almost over
>you stoke the dying fire and after making sure it will remain blazing for a good time you wake Lilly up and crawl into your sleeping bag
>Before you fall asleep you point up to the sky
>You don't see what her reaction is but you hear her gasp and her say "it's beautiful" then silence, and you know exactly what has happened
>The dance of the north has entranced Lilly, just like it had to you
>With the faint crackle still in your ears you drift off, your mind going back to the creature
>It's leaving you alone now, the skull and bone cabin at the last camp must had been a scare tactic or something
>Must have taught it a lesson, hopefully it won't bother you the rest of the way
>You were just on edge, but that's okay now....it's all over.....
>and with that you were consumed by sleep for another night as Lilly stared up at the skies dance.

and that's it for now everyone. Hope you all have a good weekend

>I felt it again. The loss of the backdrop. Things were looking... well, I can't say where yet. But I can say that I certainly have a great deal of leverage over where that is.
"It hurts to lose the backdrop. That's undeniable. But, Katyusha?"
>"Yes, Michael?"
"My commitment to you still stands. I've got all the leverage in the world right now."
>"That was... quick." She responded, apparently surprised at my sudden snap out of despair.
"I'm getting out of this, we're gonna go back to Kentucky and live in peace. We're gonna stake the claim as it were, and we're gonna get out of this whole 'shooting people' business."
>"I don't doubt you, Michael... but I've got to know. What did Alice do to you in there? Why were they threatening to let her do it AGAIN?"
"She was fucking me while I was still drugged."
>"So you're trying to salve a guilty conscience."
"No, at least not for THAT reason. I got my satisfaction when I cunt punted her on the way out. It's certainly not fair to you, I admit that. Not getting to beat the shit out of her with the confusers and all, but if it's worth anything I DID get an extra kidney punch in for you. My chief displeasure at the moment is that I've put us in a dangerous situation and haven't lived up to my commitments." I said to Ekatarina, finishing a survival ration and drinking from a canteen. "My only question now is if you still want to stay on the ride. I know I was supposed to be retired by... what day is it again?"
>"The 17th."
"...Yesterday, and NOT in a fucking facility that doesn't exist for almost two weeks. Can you forgive me for my failure?"
>"That failure is not your own. If I felt your loyalty and commitment were in question, knowing what I know now, and knowing you as I've gotten to, I'd have walked the other way already. You have my loyalty as I have yours. Now, with that said, let's get to the peak and makes some distance between US and IT before it's dark and we have to bed down."

FSB is a mix between FBI, NSA and the domestic functions of CIA with border- and coast guard thrown in for a good measure, it's also part of Russia's military rather than under ministry of interior like most countries' internal security agencies.

I've read the last several chapters all in one go, so I'll put everything in one block. Man, that was a ride the past few chapters. From fun in a Warthog, to sexual torture (Alice from Gitmo?), to surviving a crash. Pretty crazy ride. I really feel for Michael, losing the last friends he had from back in the day. At least Ekatarina is still with him. My only issue is the Russian speak. I know it's meant to indicate that they're speaking Russian, and I don't know how much difficulty everyone else is having, but I'm on mobile, and Google Translate can't make any sense from it. I feel like I'm missing out on some important plot because of that. Other than that one complaint, I'm really enjoying reading it.

Not tonight. It's approaching midnight in the land of ice and snow. And sadly, I'm not sure about tomorrow either. This part is a little tricky because I have to make a lot of stuff up, as well as checking sources, seeing when like, all 20 A7Vs got knocked out, and what parts of bavaria that are eligible as a time capsule, like what specific village.

Or I might not, leave it a secret or unnamed...

See! Tricky stuff!

This is about as high as praise gets to me. It's kinda sad going to the biggest armor museum in the country, and have the place to yourself. You know the one old man who is at every museum? The guy who knows literally everything about everything there?

It kinda hurts to see him having no one to talk to, ya know? Someone who knows that much, and no one wants to listen?

If I can make one more person go to a place like that and speak to that guy, I'm happy.

I even got to sit in a T-34 once

The U.S. does not really have a "national armor museum" in the manner of say Bovington, or comparable in scale to the NASM or the USAF museum at WP-AFB.

Closest were the old APG and Patton museum collections, and they were (are) in pretty sorry shape.

Most of the really nice collections of truly restored armor in the U.S. are in private (non-governmental) hands.

Thank you. Of course, it's hard to try and paint the internal picture with words. I guess the RDS type sight is like something from... and I hate to say this example, from COD and Titanfall. I hate the series so much but with Infinite Warfare's rifles, I've gotta say, they really did a number for me. It threw in a lot of cool ideas for the future of weapons that i really don't think any other game would have really put on the table. The story was meh and the multiplayer is well... I won't go there. But their advancement into design is surely unique, just like Titanfall's, which, let to some... AK hybrid meant for maximum operating.
