Guerilla warfare was dirty, but if it weren't for Mr. Mary Plunkett being inept we would've taken over in 1916.

In the event of an invasion, just up and surrendering after shooting a couple hundred fellers won't do them much good.
They'll also have the international community to answer to, and that's before they even get there.
To get there?
Suppose they could use their navy, all eight ships strong!
Their air force, 24+3 planes, of which seven or nine are actual attack craft.
As I understand, they'll need to secure a place for this devastatingly powerful air force to land and provision before using it to strike. The closest they could use (assuming they came from the sea) would be Abidjan military base, which houses the 43rd batallion of (French) marine infantry. Not a big deal if the Ivory Coast and France didn't have a defense agreement in place. Oops?
Take France out of the equation (Or put Britain in, citing the Ivory Coast as a fine dumping ground for the Irish, gypsies and Pakis would surely get them onboard with the idea), and it could get more interesting.
tl;dr not in open conflict with militaries facing each other.

Read the actual events, it's The Patriot tier.

well done paddy
Don't think can do OP.
On the other hand, Italy definitely could head over to Ireland and get all their old faded flags back if it became a problem.
