Its pretty awesome, its my first 5.45 rifle and its balls accurate. Really bright chrome in the bore and chamber, Mine has pretty bad trigger slap so i plan on throwing a G2 in it some time. I panic bought it and probably over payed at 700 but i dont really regret it, im happy with it. Plus the fact that the AIMS kits just hit the market is pretty sweet. How is your SAR-1 Id honestly like to pick one of those up after college.

700 ain't bad anon, pretty jelly actually. The SAR-1 (mines an 02) shoots like my '15 build WASR I sold it for, except the SAR feels lighter for some reason, has dimples, doesn't have muzzle threads, and has a smoother action and overall slightly better fit and finish. No regrets losing the WASR for it.

Maybe they were loaded and he was just checking to make sure they were condition 1.
Or maybe they were condition 3 and had loaded magazine, so it would make sense to leave the safety on to check the chamber and would explain why they had mags inserted to begin with. Who stores their rifles in condition 4?
Rust would be apparent as it would be on the outside of the rifle also. And they're inna desert, unlikely that they would have much rust if any.

Yeah, I know. I'm gonna get serious about it this year though and see what I can funnel into that. Maybe see about getting an FHA loan to get into a condo. I don't have enough stuff to justify a full standalone house, but I need more room. Also fuck lawn work.

>>32922482
In a market where home prices are rising (such as Austin, where I am, due to FUCKING CALIFAGS), the longer you wait to get a house, the more expensive it becomes to even make the down payment, much less pay a mortgage. Eventually you get priced out of the housing market and you end up renting forever.

Anyway, for those of you who missed it, AKOU's FB page just made a big post about the PSA build kits. Apparently they sent out something like 120 cast bolt carriers in the 350 kits they've sold so far, and now that people have called them on it, they're restructuring the pricing so that you now have to pay more to get a hammer-forged kit (existing kits are supposed to all be hammer-forged).

Can US AK manufacturers stop fucking up for like 3 seconds? I honestly wonder if DDI getting involved with PSA is part of the reason they went from "great" to "whoops we totally sold you a shit product by accident lol" seemingly overnight.

I didn't know communist rebel scum were allowed in here??

Aggy daggy

Nah. The older builds were garbage. The new ones are alright.
>>
>>32927440
Not surprised, PSA has always been a bit on the shadier side.
>>
>>32927478
Nah, they really aren't.

Experimental wire bipod.
>>
>>32927478
It has a US made barrel not chrome lined.
Cheapo garbage.
>>
>>32927601
The main thing I don't like about older builds is use of original barrels which then had pinned/welded on muzzle shrouds and brakes to get it out to 16 inches. That's 3 and a half inches of useless length. You're losing performance of a longer barrel, losing the compactness of a short barrel, and gaining an ugly as fuck muzzle shroud/brake.
>>
The only AMD builds that are any good are the TGIs built on FEG SA2000m receivers with Hungarian 12 inch barrels

everything else is shit
>>
>>32927654
Yeah but at least with those you had a decent barrel rather than a tube slightly harder than a thin PVC pipe.
>>
>>32927663
If you say so. I haven't had any problem with mine and it shoots great. I highly doubt the replacement barrels are really much different, and most likely not any worse, than the originals.
>>
>>32927478
The newer ones use ESS barrels which are way softer than an AK barrel should be.
ESS barrels are 5 on the rockwell scale, compared to 25 or higher on just about every other AK.

OK guys, my Russian set and e German stock came in, but I went ahead and put on the German on first. Getting muzzle threads tomorrow. What do you guys think, folder or wood stock?

Nice quads m8
>>
>>32927777
Apparently so because I didn't know anything about the barrel until just now. Fuck it. It shoots fine and I'm not going to war with it, so it'll be alright.
>>
>>32926555

I was never really enamored with 54r the way some AK guys are. Of course I sat around with my thumb up my ass and missed all the cheap surplus so now it's really not worth me getting into from scratch when I have .308 already stocked and I'm already short on other calibers that I shoot a lot.

I know eventually I'll just run out of things I planned to buy and jump on one. That's how I ended up with my PTR91.

I'm kinda like you. I own a mosin but 54r never really wowed me. I might have been more interested if I had a semiauto like a vepr or something. Love my PTR though.

Quick question regarding SAR-2s/AKs in general:

If I get an original Russian FSB (http://www.k-var.com/shop/AK-168B.html), would I be able to replace an SAR-2's FSB with it? I'm willing to enlist the help of a gunsmith.

Trying to make it look like pic related

>I'm willing to enlist the help of a gunsmith.

You can't knock out two pins?
>>
>>32928284
Is it that simple? I can definitely do that. I was just wondering if there would be massive fitting issues between the two FSBs.
>>
>>32928308
Shouldn't be

>knock out two pins
>push FSB off
>push new FSB on
>align with gas block and leaf
>apply pins
>>
>>32928334
I've got a parallel question. I'm going to populate a new polish barrel with like 50 year barrel components. Should it require any fitting aside from some anti seize?
>>
>>32928308
No it's not that simple. AK barrel components are pressed on. The old one will have to be pressed off and the new one pressed on. Most people use a 20 ton press for this.
>>
>>32928379
It is AK, so if something is a little out of spec do not be surprised but you should be able to fit it with grease and elbow grease.
>>
>>32928250

Don't buy a PSA ANYTHING.

have you learned nothing here?

I posted in the last thread but what do you guys think of SLR104urs? Worth the $1200?
>>
>>32928777
Very good if you plan to SBR

If you don't plan to SBR it's just a waste and you should get an FR instead
>>
>>32928238
I don't see what's so wrong with it, function wise.

PSA pulled a bait and switch with their build kits. If you don't want cast shit you will have to pay more now.
>>
>>32928795
Yeah I would SBR it. I have a M72 RPK and a Vepr 12 so a SBR AK in 5.45 would be a nice addition to my collection.

Is that why socialist economies always have so much inflation? Fuck off, commie filth. Every day I am reminded how much I hate you cunts. You are illiterate morons.
