There's currently that new EU "gun-ban" directive in the works, that was going to ban ownership of semi-autos from civvies. Just about everyone in Finland protested it, because it would've practically killed the reservist activities in the country, which are seen as very important part of the nation's defense. Thanks to active feedback, our politicians did manage to alter the directive and include reservist & shooting sport exceptions into it, which would make acquiring of planned "category A" weapons (=mil style firearms) possible for the mentioned purposes.
The directive has not yet passed though, but if and when it does, it will change fairly little of the current local laws. If anything, it may make it EASIER to get some hardware.

Easiest way to get a gun is to get the Hunting license & then start applying for licenses for hunting purpose.

Relatively ok. They used to be excellent before being tightened due to two school shooting that took place in years 2007 and 2008. The firearm legislation is about to be renewed soon due to both EU firearms directive coming up and due to some changes that mainly police would like in national level. So future legislation is somewhat uncertain at the moment even if the politicians try claim that new changes should not inconvenience hunters, shooters & collectors any further.

We have no caliber or magazine limitations of any kind, although one has to have a specific cause (hunting, type of sport shooting etc) for acquiring a firearm and all firearms are registered. Full-auto funs are only available to collectors - others can get semi-auto.

Only the first handgun has two year waiting period kind of thingy - meaning that one has to practice shooting two years with other firearm(s) before being allowed to buy first handgun.

To be honest the narrative that Putin and his merry crew of thugs seem to be trying to push to the Russians about Finland seems to be going two ways:
1. Portraying Finland is Russian-friendly and resisting for example EU trade sanctions against Russia (in reality we are not since we are loyal to our allies) and anti-NATO (not really either).
2. Making up fantasy shit about Finland mistreating its Russian minority. These include repeated claims about Finnish social services especially targeting ethnic Russians for suspected child abuse, all kinds of news untrue (like Imatra shootings) and the latest thing being dual citizenship thing.

As for Russian imperialism, after Georgia and Ukraine there is not little doubt about its existence. What did Russian press write about Ukraine in 2013 - and yet just year later Russian soldiers were occupying parts of it.

I doubt they really are or have ever been really worried about that - even today Finland has population of just 5.6 million. What they have been worried over and over again due to course of history is for some more powerful country attacking to Russia/Soviet Union through Finnish territory.

Irony of the whole thing is that Russian solution to this has often been to treat the Finns like shit and/or try to occupy Finland - which has often backfired for them in most spectacular ways. For example the Soviet attack in 1939 pushed Finland into German lap and resulted Finnish Army attacking to Soviet Union in 1941 and letting German troops to use Finnish territory for the attack.

it's actually really nice to sauna and jump in the lake once the ice has melted or use snow, whichever is available. vihta is okay, just a simple way of exfoliating once the sweat opens your pores. sauna is cleanest you'll ever feel after bathing.
