I really, really, really tried to avoid that label. At the time, there were a few writefags that were doing a number of guro stories with like dissection and shit, not even well written, so I think a lot of me not getting was just because I was being compared to demons getting their wings cut off and manticore tail removal bullshit. But it's nice to think that it was well written enough to not see the violence as gratuitous.
