Reminder that when you arrive you will need to queue up at the check-in station. There my aunt and mother will be collecting donations for the event. They are optional but a donation of $20 is strongly encouraged to keep this event running smoothly.

After that table you will hand over your guns to the range safety officer who will inspect them and all ammunition you plan to use. No FMJ rounds, steel cased ammo, or magnetic ammo is allowed at NuggetFest, and any banned ammo that is found will be confiscated and destroyed.

The safety officer will then give you a claim ticket for each gun and a seperate claim ticket for each type of ammunition. He will then hold onto your guns and ammo and keep them in a locked van off site. If you want to shoot any of your guns, all you have to do is take you claim ticket to the safety officer and he will get your gun for you! Remember, only 1 of your guns can be checked out at any one time, and only 1 caliber of ammo can be checked out, so plan accordingly.

Additional safety rules to remember on the range:
1. No rapid firing, please wait 3 seconds between shots.
2. no standing while firing, you must sit while shooting, this includes pistols and rifles.
3. Only paper targets are allowed. You may also only shoot at targets you yourself brought, no sharing of targets is allowed
4. Sharing of firearms is not allowed, and sharing of ammunition is not allowed
5. the range goes hot for 15 minutes every hour, the rest of the time is spent on safety briefings and time to set up targets (for the benefit of the mobility impaired)
6. the firing range opens at 6 am with a mandatory prayer service. if you do not attend you cannot shoot that day
7. the firing range closes at 12 noon and also includes a prayer service. this service is optional

Most of Friday is setup/just hanging out. Saturday afternoon is the raffle, group photo, Crimson Caravan store opens, and all day shooting. You can leave whenever you want but you'll miss out about 80% of the content if you leave Saturday morning. Though we have folks that stop by just for a few hours as work and normal life gets in the way, so it's fine whatever you choose to do. If you have a choice between Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun, I'd go with the second.

Didnt have my trip on when I posted earlier, my bad. So, a first timer who will go unnamed out of courtesy was shooting on a range I was in charge of. I was helping him learn basic rifle/pistol handling techniques and stances because he claimed he had never shot before. He was using a ar-15 another kommando had loaned him that had a wood forend and stock, done up to look like a service rifle from fallout: new vegas. It's a beautiful piece, I miss it. Anyways. I turn my back for one second to help another group of kommandos, and this sperglord throws this rifle ON THE FUCKING BRASS STREWN CONCRETE and draws a glock that I suppose he had been mexican carrying in his waistband, and started shooting. According to creep, who just happened to be there when it happened. He was practicing some fucking COD kiddies idea of a "malfunction drill" where you throw your primary weapon on the ground instead of using the goram sling and draw a fucking glock out of nowhere. And he waited until my back was turned to do it. Otherwise I would have told him what a supremely bad idea that was. Fortunately, creep was right there, so I decided it wasn't my place to go full knifehand DS mode given that it is his show and his right, the owner of the rifle was a real gent about it despite the major gouges and scratches, and I didn't want to make things worse than they already were. I don't know if I am rightly to blame or not, but there it is.

In the interest of avoiding conflict and attempting to ensure everyone has fun there have been issues like this in the past that I have not dealt with in the proper manner, I fully admit this.

Unfortunately I cannot ensure every NuggetFest attendee's fun. That said their safety and respectful treatment of their property is extremely important to me. The downside of hosting an event largely comprised of anonymous members is the difficult in followup actions. The handful of post incidents while very low in number can result in serious injury and need to be corrected or dealt with properly. The issue being that I'm usually not informed of an issue until longer after the fact or in a recap thread.

So, if someone seriously violates the rules, or has a notable screw up, please come find me and tell me or one of the RSOs immediately. It's up to tall of us to keep NuggetFest going.

That's the thing, I don't want people being discouraged from bringing something they know others will enjoy. I mean, we've had guns worth well over $10,000 that /k/ommandos were gracious enough to let others shoot. I will continually stress the importance of proper weapon handling and safety. 99% of people are fine, but it's the 1% that needs to be helped.

If someone with a trailer brought a portapotty along and charged $10 per use, they'd be rich but the end of this.

The closest Hospital is about 20 minutes away. I have Combat Lifesaver Training and a medical kit with Quick clot (as Knifebro from Arkadia Ranch can confirm from when he sliced his hand open with a knife.) I do not drink so I am always coherent should an emergency arise. There is always one designated vehicle in the event of a serious injury to be used to drive to the local hospital, we're not dealing with cell phone reception or waiting on an ambulance.

We've done Medevacs before at NuggetFest and everyone responded with speed and efficiency that would surprise you. One guy drank so much he passed out and there were concerns he may have had alcohol poisoning as he hadn't eaten anything since morning and didn't respond to Smelling Salts. No one panicked, we got the guy to the vehicle and drove him to the nearby clinic. They said he was fine and would've just slept off the alcohol, but the point is we had a system in place for emergencies and it worked.

I'll have a few plates that will be set at longer range that you can shoot with those. Only thing I haven't shot them with yet is steel core x54r so I'll shoot one round of that to test then we'll know from there.
