Fuck you using your gear is stupid; that's how it gets worn.

>>32914178
The problem is that really isn't an excuse. Vague questions don't really promote discussion because nobody wants to answer questions with a million possible answers.

A scalable plate carrier would be something like a JPC: minimalist enough that it's tiny when nothing is attached but can be built up with a decent loadout while still being somewhat comfortable. Full size would be something like an AVS where even when you drop all of the pouches and shit off of it you've still got a heavily padded, large plate carrier that isn't optimal for concealment or anything other than a full-out war setup.

Scalable is good all around but will always be less comfortable than a full sized plate carrier. They also tend to be cheaper simply because they don't require as much padding or material overall as a full size.

/k/ used to have infographs back when there were dedicated people who wanted to make and maintain them, but I don't think /gq/ has ever had one because of how in depth and autistic this shit can get. There are a lot more brands to worry about and a lot more styles to be debated.

Also, a note to anyone who runs a thick ass belt like me. As much as I like it for shooting paper and doing drills after using it for actual movement and reacting to "fire" it is a huge pain in the ass to bend over or get in any weird positions, just some food for thought.

Veste de combat felin TS3 here we goooo

Its not quite a gorka, its not quite a PCU system but it is something in the middle. Its heavy but breathes, its fabric as fuck but repels and resists wind and water like a dive suit. I'll have to check it in the snow but honestly this thing just trucks on through it all. French combat smock. Lets look at the autism this features because there is plenty.

There are infinity + 10 fucking velcro spots, buttons and zippers. There's plenty of adjusters and straps to go with it all. This contours to my feminine slender asian body perfectly yet feels like a size too big. Its a combat smock so the cargo pockets should go right under your plate carrier anyways.

Featured here is the buttpouch because lord knows french have fat asses that need their own goddamn pouches.

This is called a "gibecière" pouch. It's derived from the pouches hunting jackets have/had, and is basically a dump/GP pouch for when you're wearing the vest only.
It was removed for T4S1 and T4S2, I believe.

There's just a lot that could be put in the pastebin.
Backpack options, camo options, pouch options.
What brands are good and what brands to stay away from.
Weapon attachments, what are good and what to stay away from.
There's a lot that could be added.

I'm not tripping, just trying to get my bearings. No need to get angry, guy.

okay. I'll give a specific example.
2 Assumptions:
Without rule of law scenario.
You have somewhere to go sleep, eat, and shit.

You have a Main Weapon, a backup weapon, and a knife.
Threat level is inevitable combat with different combatants ranging from thugs from inner cities to cartel members, but not something as advanced as squads or paramilitary.

Bonus: Try to be Gray Man

What do you take with you to go from location point a to point b?
Terrain ranges from back roads to outskirts of city.

bruv, dont get mad because we are trying to get more accurate info on how to help in your gear picks. So you want grey man? Slick PCs are usually the way to go.

slickster
r-karbid slick
ferro slick

these have plates and kevlar
BCS
eagle industries LVAC

and there are many other options as well.

What about SKD's Pig plate carrier system?

I like the idea of slick pc but would want something that I could add utility to.

Anyone know how to size a AWS riggers belt? I am looking all over their website but I don't know what size belt to get. I typically wear around a 32 or 34 size pants.
>>
>>32914907
the 6b45 has kevlar and with 5a plates is about 13 pounds. CIRAS is about 17 pounds with 3a kevlar and level 4 standalones.
>>
>>32914911
Sound like a medium
but give them a call and they're tell you about how the sizes run.
>>
>>32914941

>>
>>32914929
Neither of those look like they'd fit under a jacket.

>>
>>32914969
You should give up on gray man entirely
>>
>>32914974
I may give it up, I'm still not sure yet.
But if I do, I'd want a full system like the Crye CAGE or SKD PIG. Something you would see on MARSOC.
>>
>>32914969
no, i was just giving examples of armor carriers. the eagle LVAC is like a low pro CIRAS, would be probably a little less weight than a CIRAS, the ciras doesnt weigh that much in the first place. Kevlar increases the cost though, lvac+kevlar+plates would be 5 or 600 dollars.

USGI stuff is good.

Tactical Tailor, LBT, Camelbak, and Mystery Ranch all make good gear. Another option is to get a civilian daybag from REI, Outdoor Research, Northface (they actually do make decent gear), etc and then buy a camo raincover for the pack to make it more tacticool.

Alright so I am going to grab an AWS lab belt. Just the cobra belt and the inner velcro not all their additional shit. Any last minute reasons for me not to? After that I think I will grab a couple pistol tacos and a fastmag or 2.
>>
>>32917398
>AWS lab belt

Id be curious to read some indepth reviews of their quality. It seems like a cheap version of the tyr/ronin tactics belts. If decent/good quality then id say do it, but if the quality is condor tier then just save your pennies and move up to a better one. Espically if your belt is your 'main kit'. Id rather have one really good belt with really good stuff on it, then a shit belt and shit chest rig combined.
>>
>>32917490
I've been looking around and there seem to be lots of forum posts about their quality but terrible CS. Shipping takes a while and communication is nil but I haven't seen anyone upset with the quality yet.
>>
>>32917530
Interesting, well like I said I would consider just waiting. If your like super poorfag and this is hurting your budget already, then I guess go for it.

The thing with these cheaper belts is, I personally just dont trust them. Like im assuming that belt has a D ring or something to use for hasty repelling, but like would I trust my life to a $50 belt? Im not so sure. However, with the other options (Around 150) I would feel a bit safer.

Again if you plan on only running a belt, id highly recommend just doing it all right the first time around.

Thanks for the advice. Looks like there is a positive review out there for the mrgunsngear channel. Never really watched him but he seems like an alright reviewer. I will keep looking for good reviews though. I do agree that the ronin tactics and tyr tactical ones are probably a notch above.

I was planning on using this belt alone for competitions but for /gq/ purposes I would be picking up a plate carrier eventually.

And incidentally I was going to get the option with no D ring because I can't see myself ever needing one.

Advanced warfighting solutions has been in the business a long time making clones of other peoples gear. Unlike condor, their lbt 6094 clone (aws ocpc) has survived deployments. It's double stitched and 1000d cordura, which should be the same standards as old eagle industries gear.

I have a UCR, it's quite good. The straps are adjustable and the clips make everything easy. It's really well made for a basic rig with some MOLLE for extras.

A ChiCom *can* hold two polymer AR mags per pouch, but I can literally hold mine upside down and shake it and they won't come out. They stick in there like fuck. I wouldn't put two in a pouch. Metal mags are a tight fit but come out with come pull tabs.

the ucr should carry 8 pmags no problem. It's the 7.62 tactical chicom I strongly doubt will carry 9 magazines in those pouches anythicker than usgi.

so yes.

anyways, 9 mags on your chest is pretty fucking heavy and really wide so I wouldnt do that.

Alright guys, I just got my first chest rig I guess. Picked it up at a local thrift store for $8. The logo and tag say: LBT/London Bridge Trading Co. LBT-2586G-500D Low Profile Chest Rig.

I've looked at the stitching and I guess it seems to be alright, I don't really know what to truly look for though. I can't see any holes in it or such. It came with 3 pouches; 1 surplus(I think) buckle IFAK pouch, and a GP and "battery pouch" from Paracet or Paracelet or something.

My question is, can you guys tell me what exactly I got? I can't tell if I managed to get a deal, or just bought some airsoft shit. Trying to look up the chest rig doesn't get me any reviews or anything, so I have no idea if this thing is good or not?

Based on a gander at camopedia, it's 3-colour US desert camo

"Following the invasion of Kuwait by Iraqi Forces in 1990, the US DOD was faced with the very real necessity of outfitting a large number of combat personnel in camouflage uniforms suitable for desert warfare. Although the majority of military personnel deployed in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm wore either standard woodland pattern BDUs or the six-color desert pattern BDU, the Army had already been developing a general purpose camouflage design more suitable to sparsely vegetated, sandy regions such as those found throughout Western Asia and North Africa. The resulting pattern, a three-color design, was in full production by 1991, although a very small scattering of examples are known to have reached US forces during Desert Storm. Consisting of beige & earth brown horizontal waves on a sandy background, the US tricolor desert pattern (given the nickname "coffee stain" by some US personnel) was since copied & adopted by a great many nations in Western Asia and continues to serve adequately in many countries around the world. The first issue US tricolor desert pattern was printed on 50/50% NYCO twill fabric, slightly later in a 100% ripstop version, and finally (circa 1995-96) in an enhanced ripstop 50/50% NYCO fabric."

In extreme niches. Even then, outside of a specific terrain feature (like standing in front of a big grey rock) it will only work moderately well at best. A brown and desaturated green based pattern (multicam or similar colored) beats the fuck out of it for a universal pattern. A terrain specific pattern beats them both.

I mean it's faster to switch to weak side, but 2 point is only slightly slower and superior for just about everything else.

If you can only choose one, two point slings are GOAT. 3 points are unnecessary and add complications where two points achieve the same, if not better overall support and function.

Two point to single point is GOAT. I use slings two point 98% of the time. It supports the rifle best when slung and moving, it allows for another point of support if you mount it at the front of the rifle like a man and works great during high volume shooting when slung around the neck only.

Lbt gear is literally the price premium and gold standard of most gear.

If that is the right model of 2586 and isn't fake it's $340 US new. Which is why it's a little unbelievable. That's an incredible find especially for $8. I wouldn't be surprised if even pretty used ones are still ~$100 so if yours is in good condition it would be at least around 200 minimum.

The radio pouch isn't nearly as discount but as far as I can find new it's ~$30

Ya did gud anon.

I like the simple Petzls. Something where it's just got an on/off button or switch and the color filtering is done with a colored plastic shield over the light.

I find them much easier to use than fancier lights with an arrangement of light levels, strobing, multiple LED colors and such.

But I cant for the life of me find soft armor for the shoulder, neck and arm add ons. Where the hell am I supposed to find it?

Try First Spear, they might have some of the stuff you're looking for.

Also, obviously buy hard plates. Then drop the soft armor everywhere and don't use a CIRAS (talking from personal experience) get a Crye JPC or something Idk.

3+ isn't an NIJ certification, while it *DOES* offer slightly better protection it's not certified. It's a made up industry buzzword to sell steel armor. Also don't buy steel. while the AR platform has several advantages over a shotgun, The 12ga still has a greater one shot stop ability and (for this shooter) the ability to hit a moving target more quickly. I have several rifles and several shotguns and I train with both platforms.

Good question, I'm using a TAG Triple Vertical pannel on my 6x6 chest rig. It's light and low profile, but only 18 rounds. 3 of the TYR is obviously bulkier, but that's 60 rounds in the same space if it fits.

I'll take the TYR off the belt and get a picture of the width. hang tight.

Yea except overpenetration is less of an issue with 5.56 compared to 12 gauge buck. It destabilizes and becomes less lethal quicker. You obviously don't know much about the ballistics of the two options.

>>32923870
Your personal abilities with a platform don't really enter in to a discussion about the guns themselves. As for one shot stop the reliability, simplicity and ability for quicker followup shots outweighs it as well as being safer if you miss

>>
>>32924172
Yes and buck will do the same thing and still be more lethal so that really doesn't back up the point that 5.56 will go on to infinity like has been stated while buck won't as mentioned earlier.
>>
>>32922256
That's because no Multicam SOFLCS mbitrs are currently on fleabay. The last one sold for 87 dollars.
>>
>>32924223
I don't have numbers with me, so if you could find some that might be nice but I'm willing to bet just about anything that (average) 5.56 over penetrates significantly more that (average) buck and is lethal for longer.

>>32923503

>>
>>32924124

>>
>>32924255
here is some reading. The first one is a post from DocGKR whose ballistic knowledge is fucking great. I highly recommend his posts about defensive 5.56 ammo.

https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?4334-Home-Defense-Long-Guns

Then box of truth demonstrates the quicker destabilization of 5.56 after a few walls of drywall.

http://www.theboxotruth.com/the-box-o-truth-14-rifles-shotguns-and-walls/

They both penetrate the same number of walls but a tumbling 5.56 round is less lethal than the 00 pellets as well as the fact that the pellets are all over the place meaning there is a higher chance of someone being hit.

But are you serious? $340/$200? Fuck guys, how do I tell if it's a fake or not? Besides the tag it just has the LBT logo on the lower right corner (up against your body) and other than that, nothing. And yeah, from what I can tell this thing is lightly used or like new. I got the ayylmao gear one on a whim from a friend for my fullsize USP.40. AT first I wasn't able to conceal it properly because it was too high up on my waist but since they aren't shit you can actually adjust it a bit and though it doesn't look cool it doesn't have to since its CC. It releases on a good draw and the way its made it doesn't pull out the entire holster with it. The leather or whatever against your body feels good and contours to you while holding firm and nothing digs in. I like it for the price.
