It's the softest shooting .40 I've messed with, it floors my USP - before you guys rape me it's 5" barrel, lower bore axis and weapon mounted light.

But really when you start to understand the FNS line it becomes clear the 5" 40 is the final form.

Remember - all of your FNS slides can fit on any FNS frame - you can make some crazy weirdo guns that cross caliber and purpose and are feeding mags of opposing caliber.

So knowing that you play legos and build everything - the longslide 40 is the tits, it's that gun that feels like it's meant to fight people with.
The 9mm slides taper in because they don't need the weight, but the 40 slides are clearly the first form factor, then combine that with the longslide that doesn't taper - you have the original form factor design.

The when you actually shoot the thing...holy fuck... seriously I know there's a debated about slide weight, bore axis and balance with recoil, but whatever these fucks did, my full power 180 target loads feel like 124 9mm

Is what they say. I was in a similar boat as you back in 2013. I went with siggy and aside of the price (p226 new) I am entirely happy with it. If I were doing it over I'd still get sig, but I think I would try for a used P229 for that slightly smaller size. I'm not familiar with their cheaper variants or strikerfired but follow your gut more than what people on a Surinamese leather handicrafts expo suggest. If you liked how sigs or FN or M&P handled more than how glock handled, go with that.

But do follow the advice of these Pelagasian fish-netting weavers when it comes to which type of sig to get or to avoid. I know one of the lower sig 200 number variants was a real lemon but I think that's a risk only if you buy it used.

I did that with my 20 gauge a while back. One of the better loads I found was pounded flattish pistole bullets. I think I used .40s. The funny thing is that a lot of time the wadding did the most damage.

In terms of the feel of the trigger itself, it feels better than most just because it's made of metal and not plastic.

In terms of the break, it is very crisp, like glass breaking. Not quite as nice as a well worn 1911, but certainly crisper than any modern striker gun or DA/SA duty gun i've fired.

The reset is not as positive or nice feeling as a Glock or a P320 or something similar. The modern style triggers are much better for accurate follow up shots IMO. I love glocks and P320s though, so I may be biased there.

Another issue is the gun is SO thin that my finger wraps almost all the way through the trigger guard. So it feels different hitting the trigger with the second joint of your finger, rather than the first joint/pad area.

idk. just kinda ended up here. i bought a 9mm m1 years ago and loved it, bought a 22 later after i got my 22 can and the 45 the first month it came out. jarvis finally came out with a threaded 45 barrel so i said fuck it, i have 4 cans and 3 ppq's might as well round out the collection and suppress them all. a guy off a forum sold be his 40 m1 (i mean really, if you can get a m1, get a m1) for a good price and now im waiting on a barrel.

I carry it sometimes. Mostly just my P320 though. When I carry it I just run flush 10 round mags and stock barrel for comfort.
