Took this pic today for LULZ. No I dont keep a Maglite on me. Yes, I use it, and they're still bitchin' lights in 2017.

Multi-Tools are a complete fucking joke to people that actually make a living off of using tools. I chuckled at your sog.

Well of the many things I normally have on me, here are 4 interesting ones.

Knife: Spyderco Tuff (was debating between this or my blue Al Mar Eagle HD with Laminated ZPD-189.. that's an interesting knife)

Flashlight: Zebra Light sc62w with a 3500mAh Orbtonic 18650... 1,000lm at that size is pretty cool.

Comb: I think it is a John Gray large Titanium comb

Handkerchief: It's an old meme my mom made, whats not interesting here?

Little keychain light is good enough, usually use phone LED if required, have real flashlight at home. Don't often carry multitools as I have AAA and couldn't easily fix cars and stuff anyway, pay people for that. Carry the emergency utility knife and pistol daily.

It has a very good build, almost on par with what you would get from Surefire. The built in charging is really nice considering it takes 4 18650s. I've had it underwater a few times and saw no condensation in the lenses. And you maybe able to see in the pic, all those scratches, it's been dropped a few times, and it still works fine.

If you can find one for around $200, it's worth it... Keep in mind though 18650 batteries. I have 4 Orbtonic 3500mAh in it, that $60 of battery, at lest last year, I've not looked at batteries lately.
>>
>>32912116
I agree completely
Surefires are very well made, and being American Made is nice... But if you are going for raw performance, they just are not competitive. And honestly they are made to a unnecessary high quality level if you just want a functional and durable light, and not some gem.

They are the Chris Reeve (Sebenza) of lights. Very well made, but really shit for the money if you just want a tool.

Ive never paid over 80$ for my lights. Its all just aluminum tubes. You can get the tall light pictured here for 30$, it has three Cree XML diodes, rated at 3000lm(its not). The light in the front that looks like a tube is 11$ free shipping with prime. Its rated in the hundreds of lumens and takes 1 AAA, just bought one a few days ago, threw it around, bought 2 more.
>>
>>32907651
One of the reasons why an ACTUAL Swiss Army Knife (most socially acepted blade ever - thanks, McGiver) is actually a very solid choice for EDC no matter if there are other technically better blades.
>>
>>32912283

Agreed. Is that an Olight on the left? I have a S30R, got it for $50, uses the same LEDs as the overkill in >>32912051. Quarter of the LEDs, quarter of the maximum light output for a quarter of the price, can still light up an entire street almost as well as car headlights while being the size of a pack of mints.

>>32912338
Before 9/11 you could buy SAKs in airports, that's how normiecore they are. Good knives too for the price.

Oh hell yeah it's overkill that's why I like it. But you could argue that anything more than an incandescent 80lm Mag is "overkill".

But honestly it's a very useful light for crossing lakes at night, being able to light up a wide field of view to see rocks, to be able to spot the shore far away and enough of it to actually get your bearings.

Of course before I had this light, my PD32ue worked fine, and before than my Mag worked fine... But it is easier
>>
>>32912382
Yeah both lights on the left are Olight the SR30(can't remember if it's the first or the second version) and the SRMini Intimidator. The Intimidator probably isn't as bright as your TinyMonster but it's damn bright and was on sale a gun store in my area for 40$ cheaper than even Amazon.

Check out the new Cree XHP70, they are even brighter than any of the XML Series. They are one diode that is essentially 4 XML diodes all in one. There are a few companies that have sell lights with them.

Just to clarify, I'm the guy with the Tm26, there are 3 of us here it seems.

Yeah I've looked at the XHP line, but really if I get any more large format (not edc) lights, I'm going for throw over sheer out put. Generally smaller LEDs are more intense and throw further even though they put out less light.

The TM36 (a 1000+ meter light) is next on my light list. But I'm going to probably wait another year for the price to come down to the $200 mark like I did when I got my Tm26.

I guess I do need to replace my maglite. It's funny when I go to customer's houses to fix their furnace and ask if I need a flashlight and i'm like... uhh.... I have one, but too embarrassed and leave it in my tool bag

What's a good light under $20 or so? I've had a few of those Chinese zoom-ables that use a 18650, but after 1 drop, they break.
>>
>>32913786
>What's a good light under $20 or so?

Not much, this is probably the only acceptable one in the sub 50$ catagory and it's still Chinesium. But probably a bit better than the 16$ zooms.

I highly recommend the Thrunight... can't think of the name of it... but pretty much any Thrunight AA or AAA light.

I bought a bunch of single AA lights to put in first aid kits that I gave to friends and family for their cars last year. They hold up well, and are more than bright enough for utility use.
>>
>>32913786
Honestly I would stay away from sub $40ish 18650 lights, considering a good 18650 alone should cost you at lest $8ish. But I'll admit I have no expirense with cheaper 18650 lights

I tend to go with Orbtonic 3500mAh for lights that will fit it and the 3400mAh for thinner 18650 lights
