Putting together a "Shit Hits The Fan" kit with the essentials in case something goes down in my city. I have the guns/ammo/food water/ropes/knifes on lockdown but I was thinking about getting a gas mask. Does /K/ have an opinion on what decently priced gas mask to get? I see some painters masks have reviews that say they will be sufficient for chem/bio attacks...
>>
>>32903773
Cant recomend
They would require shaving tactical beard and I would rather die like a man than like some baby faced jack boot thug
>>
>>32903773
What is it with the daily gas mask thread these days?

Yes, an industrial mask will be sufficient for fallout/bio.

3M makes good American made gas masks for a reasonable price

Yes let's all huff on these communist asbestos boxes.

Many of those cans are toxic, anon. Have asbestos/chromium in them.

Whats the worst that could happen r right?

>>32904015
Yes they do.

Choose a 6800 mask with a 6038 filter pack

been thinking about the MSA Advantage 1000 for years now. Just can't justify the expense. All I have atm is 30 rolls of duct tape to seal up the windows and door in case of a dirty bomb. The advantage would be rad in case of tear gas though, which is a reasonable threat atm.

Fuck being poor.

Most of the issues is just irritation from activated carbon if the filter gets damaged.
Take your pick from a bad cough cus the gasmask is shit, or death because the gas is worse.

In the process of buying a PBF with "new" filters, would be confident wearing one if I really had to.
>>
>>32904246
Or you could just get a not toxic gasmask
>>
>>32904242
ive been able to find new msa millenniums on ebay for $50, theres some up for $80 right now. Close enough to the 1000. Shop around.

Nice looking mask and some SEA militaries even use it but without provisions to drink from a canteen they are pretty much only short term solutions for respiratory irritants and not really suited for any real CBRN use...

Check out ((((AMAZON)))).
They actually sell good quality mask at a reasonably price
>>
>>32904278
This
In a real CBRN environment you'd be fucked from the get go. The first thing that is gonna fuck you up is that you're not in a full suit. Like half of the lethal agents stockpiled can work on exposed skin alone.
Next is that you won't be able to drink without exposing yourself
>I'll just hold my breath and purge the mask after I get a sip
Grats on dying
The last thing that will fuck you good is that low volatility agents will absolutely hang around on you even with what you would consider a good scrub down. There is a reason why they teach to burn everything that possibly was contaminated that isn't mission essential
With that in mind the mask is more than adequate enough for smoke, dusty environments like collapsed buildings, and nonlethal irritants like tear gas.
>>
>>32904266
You would be required to wear a broken filter for nearly a week fulltime (you would change the filter out by 8 hours in or less anyways) in order to start to suffer the effects of carbon poisoning, which is still very mild in these amounts.
They are hardly toxic.

Not that the chromium/asbestos ones don't exist, but many of them were just activated carbon which can cause irritation and mild sickness over a long time if the filters are total dogshit.
>>
>>32904385
Respirators have built-in drinking 'straws' because they already thought about your concern and devised a solution.
Next time be less ignorant before you post.
>>
Get a GP-5 and nigger-rig it to an oxygen tank instead of using the filter
When you need to drink you're fucked, but at least you can handle extremely short-term stuff

>>32904385
>not having a hazard suit ready to go with your gasmask

Do you even prep?

I've been thinking about WMDs that could reasonably be manufactured by turrists and this came to mind:

>When the plant is burned, inhalation of the smoke may cause the rash to appear on the lining of the lungs, causing extreme pain and possibly fatal respiratory difficulty.

Yes, most military ones have, but the mentioned civilian 3M and MSA ones don't. Next time be less ignorant before you post.

The 3m masks are for getting out of a city or to a bug out location. No you can't drink but you can go a hard 8hrs without drinking. The p100/gas filters will protect from a bio attack or a flu outbreak and will even protect lungs from radioactive fallout, cs gas, chlorine gas etc. Only thing they won't do is stop nerve agents like sarin, VX etc but unless wearing a full air tight bio suit before the attack starts then the best mask in the world won't protect you. 3m are best bang for the buck by miles.

beards are gay. most of you idiots sporting one think you look rad and ruggedly handsome while in reality you just have the patchy pubes face of your average fatty jihadist. ppl laugh at you. At most 1 in 10 men has a bread growth that is acceptable.

Picked up my 6800 for $70 including filters.

They are perfectly adequate for short term CBRN.

Filters for the military masks are expensive and becoming scarce with short shelf life

I like the idea of the MSA because it has a flexible lens. Should allow for the best cheek weld. Tried the M60 in pic realated >>32904278
and couldn't see shit.

Any links to a solid cheap mask for fallout, cs, and typical biohazards? Bonus if you can still shoot with it on.
>>
>>32903773
I own a M60, and while vision is impaired, it's not a bad mask

I was just going by current prices that I saw online. I got my msa millennium for $50. You can get new CBRN filters that expire in 2021 for $38, a lot more than the price of the 3m ones but at least you can drink with the mask on. 3m also makes adapters that allow you to use the 3m filters on 40mm masks. So you can use the same filers and drink with the mask on.

These appear to be very scarce in the UK.

My 3m is solely to escape an attack in London in order to get back to my family. Goes in my work bag nicely. Could also come in handy for me working around chemical dosing tanks. Was exposed to chlorine gas once when an engineer put acid in a drum of hypochlorite.
