Probably the Dornier Do-335. Used a push-pull configuration, thing was fast as hell. Plus it's incredibly aesthetic

It had additional jet engines to lift it up, sure it was able to hover in circles and other fancy shit, but it consumed tons of fuel and needed even more maintenance

Much faster and actually had slightly longer range.

Both of said aspects could certainly be further improved today. The production version was also supposedly not going to have the outboard lift nacelles.
