People are freaking out like this is some war-changer. Riyadh has been struck by Scuds before, and being able to fire off a few scuds at a city is very ineffective unless it has a WMD warhead. And a WMD warhead would mean the end of the houthis and probably Iran as well.

It reminds me of the claims that if/when Hamas struck Tel Aviv with a missile the war would change forever. Then they finally did in 2014 and literally nothing happened.

They also use refurbished SA-2 missiles as ballistic missiles. But to answer your question they got them over a long period of time, with DPKR, USSR and other communist countries shipping them to Yemen intermittently during the cold war and up until 2001 ish. They don't have as many of those launchers, but they do have a lot of the converted S-2's that have a decent range and fairly good guidance systems for how old the missiles are.

Most missile strikes are with the S-2 refurbs tho, the Scud's are too precious to waste on taking pot shots.

Fun thing on the side, one of my co-workers middle name is Scud, he was born in Saudi Arabia (expat) during the Gulf War and his parents thought it'd be hilarious to have his middle name be Scud.

Not even close, the Iranians, Syrians and Hezb are all constrained severely manpower-wise and materials-wise. Its why most of these guys have enlisted the aid of local militias to do the grunt work, which are the guys that get steamrolled every now and then when the actual Iranians,SAA, and Hezb move to another front they are needed more. Russian support is huge, but its nothing in comparison to what the US supplies to the Iraqis and those guys aren't doing much better anyway. And most jihadis came from all over the muslim world, particularly gulf countries with a huge number experienced from past conflicts.

So, the Syrian army just killed Al-Bab, giving it to the turks on a silver plate.

ISIL news agency claims a suicide bomber has killed ten Turkish soldiers in the vicinity of Al Bab. This has not yet been confirmed as no other source has corroborated the claims.

This comes as ISIL has reinforced their positions in the cemetery of Deir Ezzor

Lastly, SDF forces have managed to capture the towns of Hadi and Natali to the north-east of Raqqa.

Yemen
more info has come in on the type of missile that was used to strike the outskirts of the Saudi Capital. Yemeni army officials showcased the type of missile, called the Burkan 2 (Arabic classes paying off). Very little information on the missile is known, but if it is a upgrade on the Burkan 1, then it is very much like the other variant in that it is an upgrade on the Scud D missiles that the Yemeni forces are known to have.

It is thought that the Houthi alliance are running out of Scuds as they have started to convert their S-2's into ballistic missiles (called the Qahir 1). However the recent use of them against the Saudi capital shows that they are saving them up for more juicy targets.
