I don't have the pastebin thing, but it's been a while.

ITT: We pressure anon into getting a 26 Nosler as his first rifle.
>because how else will he get to 1,000 yards in less than 6 mils of drop

But really, for the 6.5CM I'm looking at either a Savage 10T or a 10FCP-SR 24" Barrel. Leaning towards the FCP but perhaps there's a reason for the 10T...?

What's the price point between the two?
>>
>>32885194
Pretty much the same; ~$590

I've got the FC--- Well Had--- the FCP and enjoyed it. I've not gotten to play with the 10T

Anyone own the Vortex Viper Pst 6-24x50?

Looking to upgrade from my SWFA SS 10x42(thing is a champ) on my tikka .308 build.
>>
>>32884387

i am having the hardest time finding a fixed power 6x or 8x scope

help
>>
>>32886019
Why fixed? And only those powers? There's a few in a 2k+ range that are extremely high quality but not much below that.

if you can deal with 10x. The SWFA SS 10x42 is the best bang for buck out to 1000yards any day.
>>
>>32885831
any interest in selling that SWFA? What are your turrets?
>>
So I'm using a Tikka T3 lite in .300 Win Mag with a Nikon Buckmasters II on it. Not really looking to upgrade for now since the longest range I shoot at is 200 yards. I want to git gudder first and then we'll see.

My rifle is at the gunsmith to get a muzzle brake installed right now (both to mitigate recoil and for the rule of cool). Thing is I read somewhere that muzzle brakes can be hard on scopes and I was wondering to what extent.
>>
>>32885831
I got the EBR-2C in mil. Any questions about it? I love mine and I can't imagine wanting anything else. Glass, reticle, weight, ease of use all make it a great scope; I think better than the gen 2 PST particularly because of weight. Got mine on my Tikka 308. I've got a Gen ii razor 4.5-27, same reticle, on my 338 and love it as well (though the diminishing returns on $ spent for what you get makes me like the PST more).

>>32886802
I've never heard of muzzle brakes being hard on scopes...that seems counter intuitive to me but maybe I'm a retard.
>>
>>32886928
I remember reading that since scopes are built to withstand sudden recoil but not really for having a shitton of high speed gas blown at them it might be an issue.
It might be total and utter fuddlore nonsense too though, I don't remember where I saw that.

Ordered 4-14 primary arms scope with R-Grid for my PTR.
>>
>>32886969
The gas on the brakes is usually redirected towards the sides and never back/up. You don't get too much of a side blast anywhere near the scope unless you're on a SBR AR-15, and even that isn't much.
>>
>>32887161
The one I bought redirects all around but I thought it was weird, figured the angles weren't steep enough for the gases to reach the scope.
>>
>>32887101
That reticle takes a while for me to get used to. My buddy has 2 or 3 of them now and it's all fucky I think. Windage and drop hold overs are difficult, especially for small adjustments near the center. I wish they just did a regular xmas tree and had the lines connecting; no illumination.

That said, the glass on the new PA 4-14's is way fucking better than my oder 4-14...its amazing.
>>
>>32887397
You're used to adjusting your turrets rather than holding over?
>>
>>32887580
Kind of. I've been trying to use the turrets more, but I do some holdover work as well.
>>
>>32887747
Most 5.56/308 BDC reticles start at 200. I assume because with a hundred yard zero, POI is good enough to be combat effective. Competitive shooting would benefit for more precision and adjusting turrets to focus on the shot in the most repeatable form.
>>
>>32888062
I suppose. I haven't used a SFP scope with BCD in a while. I'm using handloads that I chrono'd and getting drops from the ballistic calculator using that on a FFP scope, which the R-grid is. I was surprised to see that the SMK vs TMK has an actual difference even at ~400-600yds.

My shooting is just for sport & fun, I'm not practicing to take people out.

There is no real difference in the 10T & FCPSR. Personally I'd say go with the fcp, mines a freaking tack driver with absolutely 0 load development when I do my part. The mags and threads are also a nice touch.

So I've just won a wrongful dismissal lawsuit and now looking at rolling in some "free monies". Won't say the specifics, but enough to go a little crazy for my next gun purchase.

Looking to get a .416 Barrett or .50BMG ELR paper punching and I've whittle down my choices to either a Barrett M99 or pice related, a Desert Tactical HTI. Both rifles end up with the same similar price (with the M99 about $750 or more) BUT if I thrown in an extra $1,200 on the HTI, I can also get the caliber conversion kit so I can have both .416BT and .50BMG on the same HTI chassis.

I'm personally leaning towards the DT HTI with both calibers, but I somehow can't get over the want for a Barrett :(

Which one should I get /k/?
>>
>>32890410
I would do the DT HTI, so long as you're okay with a bulpup bolt action. If you don't have a smaller round to shoot more often and economically, get one of those.
>>
>>32890368
For the money, SWFA sells an outstanding optic. If you look at the history it will be an even stronger selling point..
>>
>>32890428
Only other bolt gun I have is a Remington SPS Tactical 20" .308WIN. It's alright I guess, especially since I only paid $450 for it.
