I am shopping for a "tactical" fighting hatchet for reasons.

Does anyone use one of these or is it just gimmicky crap? They can be used to knock door handles off and pry open doors/windows or split open a communists head when they try and culturally enrich and diversify you.

Are these things worth a shit?
Anyone use one?

Talk me out of buying one.

Not full tang. Quality seems hit or miss from reviews. Some are very sharp take a beating, some break very quickly and are dull shit metal.

Cheap as ship though.

the only one i would personally get is the thorax hatchet, but im a condor shill so do whatever you want,

as long as you realize you cant cut a tree down and that they are made or killing/urban dismantling instead of chopping them they are great weapons
>>
>>32881478
>Does anyone use one of these or is it just gimmicky crap?

Total gimmick. A prybar is much more effective at breaching. A "tactical tomahawk" is going to be shit at doing outdoorsy stuff like chopping wood, which is where you'd want a real deal pioneer axe. A knife (or hey, maybe a GUN!) is better for fighting.

Tactical tomahawks are pretty much 100% mall ninja equipment.
>>
>>32881478
Everything a Tomahawk does, you can do with a decent entrenching tool and more.

Moreso, you will be horrifically overcharged because Tomahawks are marketed to gear queers with more money than sense. Yes, they could kill someone dead. No, they do not look ally as fuck contrary to what edgy gear queer rimjobs believe, you will have a much better time buying a good fighting knife and good foldable entrenching tool.

also this >>32881481 is a quick way to get a NJP.

If you want one for personal use(not military) then why not, it's your money, if you want to use it as part of a militia then it's a waste of money that could be better spent on tools and rations

I use a leatherman style multitool, and it works good and yet a real pair of pliers is more efficient, a real screw driver is better, a real wire cutter is more solid, a real file/saw is sharper.

I like the aspect of it being able to chop, cut, smash, pry and crush it one tool instead of having an axe, a mallet/hammer, a crowbar.

Surely there is a niche these can fill and not straight gimmick?

I did two combat tours in Iraq (not kicking down doors, convoy escort and QRF OSI personal escort) and I honestly never had a need for a tool like this, but maybe the gear queer in me really just wants one since I have lots of disposable income now?

>I like the aspect of it being able to chop, cut, smash, pry and crush it one tool instead of having an axe, a mallet/hammer, a crowbar.

So get a prybar, which actually works. The only thing it doesn't do is extended chopping, which a tactical axe doesn't do well either.

>I did two combat tours in Iraq (not kicking down doors, convoy escort and QRF OSI personal escort) and I honestly never had a need for a tool like this, but maybe the gear queer in me really just wants one since I have lots of disposable income now?

I actually spent time prying open doors AND had a well meaning friend send me a tactical SOG axe, and I can tell you it never got used because it was too light and flimsy.

What about something to go into melee with the AntiFa when they riot nationally when we break ground on building the southern border wall of American greatness. Tomahawk as a throwing weapon to lodge into identity politics skulls?

Just want to talk about weapons on a wespons board /k/ eapons and discuss the reason to have them.

AntiFa has stepped up their leftist violence.

I wear my bright red President Trump Make America Great Again Hat out everywhere that I go.

Don't I have a right to defend myself from attack using the best tool available?

You would want me to discuss Vietnam weapons without being able to discuss tactics against communists Maoists.

It might be hard to fire blindly or even in self defense into a massive brawling crowd in every direction with melee weapons with the terrorist leftists. Especially without hitting innocent civilians.

Kate, if you want to protect yourself, get a Tomahawk,” Biden responded. “I promise you, as I told my wife, we live in an area that’s wooded and somewhat secluded. I said, Jill, if there’s ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony here, walk out, put [up] that Tomahawk and take two swings outside the house.”

The vice president said that by swinging a tomahawk, anyone who might be trying to break in would be scared off.

“You don’t need an AR-15,” he said. “Buy a tomahawk! Buy a tomahawk!”

Biden fielded a handful of other questions about melee weapon reform proposals. He said he doesn’t support making changes to the Second Amendment and described America’s “really healthy knife culture,” which was a “part of my father’s ethic.” He clarified to another questioner that nobody wants to take away people’s knives.

“I have two tomahawks at home,” he said. “No one is going to come and take my tomahawks.”

What about for melee combat? It seems anyone in an urban environment should be prepared to engage in hand to hand combat in tight crowd brawl sized environments for what is coming down the pipe soon. Wouldn't a tomahawk fit this role and purpose perfectly?

Much more range than a knife, but with weight and heft behind it to do impact damage as well as slashing and slicing but the only tool to also fill the chopping role.
>>
>>32882578
stop. There is no good manual out there for fencing with a hatchet. If you can't train on it, it's pointless. If you really want to have an autism weapon get a longsword and start studying HEMA. Or like, you know, get a carbine.

Having a hatchet is useful when you need to chop something...not as usefull as a full axe, but better than just a camp knife.

As for combat...they are fast and if you have a hammer poll, you'll fuck up people wearing helmets and have a way to hammer in tent pegs or nails.

If you want something for melee combat, put a bayonet on your rifle/shotgun. it gives you more reach and is less weight. If S really did HTF I wouldn't be carrying around a tomahawk. That added weight is better spent on ammo/medical/food or water.

Tomahawks and axes are too unwieldy for most people and are simply unpractical for urban environments. Pick up a nice fox karambit instead that you can take with you wherever you go and conceal easily. Also, karambits are pretty easy to learn how to use if you give them a little time and practice

the world of melee is dead unless you're in a third world country, and even there Bibbidy Akoomi has a rusted soviet AKM

however if some fucking shmuck comes up on you and grabs your collar, i'd keep one of these somewhere easy and fast to grab in a sheathe and just punch away
>>
>>32883492
why not a regular bayonet?
>>
Get a short Halligan tool. More utility all around.
If you have to chop stuff then spring for a mid sized camp axe and then you have with halligan and axe a set of "irons" One of the best tool kits for all around getting into places, prying and chopping. Halligan and axe can pop a lock right out of a door.

A blunt smashing weapon would be better as it has less chance to injure the user.I would rather carry a mace or war hammer

I picked this up a few years ago. I'm not the biggest SOG fan, but I've been pretty pleased. It's been through abuse, keeps a point very well, haven't even been able to chip it yet. Nice weight for a quick little hatchet, decent balance. But excellent steel, very sturdy. And I think I got it for about 45$
Alast I have not been able to partake in a axe right yet. But it would be my first choice. I honestly only got it for shits and giggles though.
