What does /k/ think of the american?
>I've owned many Rugers, never a complaint about reliability or build quality
>holds 17 rds
>a bit on the heavy side
>hefty trigger weight @ around 7lbs
>only $425 a local fun store
was going to buy an FNS for EDC but saw this thing for so cheap.... seems like a comparable options. Is the extra $100 just for a name? any of you guys actually have one of these pistols, or shot one?
I just want a no-nonsense pistol for my EDC with the following requirements
>15rd capacity minimum
>9mm
>full size
>no DA/SA because I don't want 2 trigger pulls
>front and rear dovetail to slap on some TFX
>rail for my TLR-1
>425
Not at that price. You'll be overpaying by a good 50 dollars

Id rather buy an fn.hell for lil less you can get a canik and it will be a better pistol.
They're heavy for what they really are, a re-engineered SR with the new edgey frames. Sadly it overshadowed the sr45 on release so we never got the compact.
>$425
How much does the high resolution model cost?
just get a glock 19 dude..17 if you really want full size..
>>32881129
They're alright, haven't heard of any major issues with them. I'd still just get a Glock 19/17 though

Please show me where one can buy a Ruger American for $375...I don't want one, but I'm calling horseshit
>>32881129
OP, you know why it's a bit big and a bit heavy, right? It has a modular FCG ala P320.
>>32885041
The great thing about the P320 being modular is it has three frames, it took Ruger a year to even get the compact 9mm out.

>turkshit
>better

>Ruger American
sounds like the same deceptive (Chinese made) american flag waving naming logic as the "Patriot Act"
>>32882826
it's Ruger American, not a 9E

>What does /k/ think of the american?
I think it's completely fine. I probably won't buy one because my "full-size 9mm pistol that holds 17+ rounds and is heavier than many people think is necessary" base is already well covered by a CZ 75B, but I would not in any way be upset if someone gave me an American and I would end up shooting it pretty often.

>is the extra $100 just for a name?
No, the pistol's unfettered shit
FNS, M&P, Glock, VP9, P320 are all infinitely better options than the Ruger American
Not a fan
I'd rather spend another 100 and get a sig or spend 100 less and get a Taurus or something.
My cousin has one and I don't like the way it shoots honestly, not really fun at all, reminds me of a hipoint.
