Why not just get a serious machine? CNC knee mills are the best of both worlds and you could machine a pallet to do multiple lowers at once.

You can fit a milling machine, tooling etc in a single garage bay easily.

I realized this morning that a 9mm Luger cartridge will fit a 5.45x39 bolt. I kind of want to make some unholy hybrid of an AK and Uzi, making a mag insert for the AK receiver and moving the trigger forward. I haven't put much thought into this so I don't know how well the gas system would work.

Look up the Leinad derringer kits. It'll give you an idea on how to build a break actual single shot. They have double barrel versions, so maybe plan on scaling that up to twelve gauge

This is what I had in mind.
Seems easy enough thick steel pipe that can fit a 12g snug enough to pop in and out.
Weld or tie those two barrels together and put them on a swivel
And all that you need are a hammer an trigger system which can be made really primitive.
Shit I might just stick with a single barrel for simplicity sake.

I've been working on a 3D model of the AR-7, though I haven't touched it in a while.

The trigger is just a placeholder, there are a few internal features of the receiver missing, a couple features on the bolt, the safety, etc.

I have no firearm designs but I've been sitting on a semiauto rubber ball gun for some years, can be made out of garden variety PVC pipe and fittings with minimal complex machine work using only a drill or dremel. May actually get around to building it soon with all the riots and whatnot.

I'm trying to make it accurate, though without a CMM, it's hard to get accurate measurements on some features with vernier calipers. Threads are standardized, so it's not like those are a problem.

Being that a machinist or toolmaker is a rather rare job in general most of you guys dont know you need some sort of program to write tool paths on the parts you have in CAD so the machine can actually produce them. The next issue is knowing material types and having the proper fixtures to hold the work

I'm trying to develop 3D printable 15 round magazine for CZ Kadet .22lr conversion kit. I installed CAD software couple a days ago and started training. Now I have the follower and mag body designed, need to design floor plate and it's attachment to the mag then I can print prototypes.

For initial testing I'm planning to use the 10rd mag spring but if I'm going to make any more I need custom springs and that's going to be a problem.
