My local gun shop has a RIA 1911 GI for 400$, is it worth?
Supposedly the guns ok but their mags are complete shit.
Wilson combat

what do you mags are shit?

Ive heard varying reviews of em. I do know they generally go for about $400, so your not really getting much of a deal.
About the mags, I heard good and bad about them as well. You can try out the standard mags that came with it and if they work, good. If not, just order some wilson combat mags

it's a solid gun

Yes it is. Buy it.

>op is asking about budget tier 1911
>suggest botique tier 1911
Holy shit . Such retarded. wow.

i think he was recommending Wilson mags not the actual fucking 1911.
Honestly OP, id rather save up money for mags and ammo and AR lowers. Rock Island Armory is great and all for the money, but its a GI model, no adjustble sights, simple grip safety, etc. Im not a 1911 guy but i wanted one just for fun so i got it. If you are an actual 1911 guy, save up then cause the RIA might dissapoint. Besides RIA 1911s are going anywhere.

ya man doit and give em a firm hand shake.
personally i think it's a good beginner gun. in case you fud up and scratched it like most novice do when dissembling a 1911 you wont be too sad since it's a RIA

It's been awhile since I've done research, but a few years ago when I was on a big 1911 kick and was thinking of buying one, I found lots of forum posts from people reporting that RIA 1911s were solid. Now, take that with a grain of salt, because obviously there will be a trend of people with cheaper guns defending them hard against more expensive guns, but most of the posts seemed honest and not asspained, to the point that eventually I'll get around to buying one since I like plain-jane GI-style 1911s, and at $400 there's not a lot to lose. If like the other anons in this thread say, mags are an issue, mags are fairly cheap. It's a design that's been around a long enough time, it's probably been replicated to the point that it's hard to fuck up, plus I hear the flips are pretty good at gun making
Only thing I can't stand about them is the crappy looking smooth wood grips, but a set of nice checkered 1911 grips are easy to find (or pearl if you're black, anime girl if you've been on 4chan long enough)

The lifetime warranty covers the mags as well, though

They're good guns, but the metal is a bit on the soft side.
thankfully, .45 is a forgiving caliber and as long as you don't do anything dumb like fire a heavy diet of +p+ or convert it to .45 super you won't have no trouble

I got a 9mm ria for 275, it's been solidly reliable, the mag that came with it doesn't lock the slide back.
I bought two more from the same company, mag tech or something, the m with a circle. Those 2 cycle just fine.
Fairly accurate, I can hit better with it than a glock 19, obviously sight radius is longer and the gun is more fore heavy.
Just remember you have a small mag limit, unless you go old school and weld two together. Mag well is same size as 45 , but a swap to 45 isn't really doable.
