How do /k/ommandos feel about Uber?
>>
If you are legally CCing this should not apply

you don't have to tell them and they can't really ask
>>
>>32872873
What if they see the bulge?
>>
Cant carry guns out of my property in my country, so not like i care.
>>
how would they even know? they don't inspect your car, and most drivers want to know you even less than you want to know them, so I doubt they'd ask.
plus, all the penalty is is losing access to uber, which isn't even a fucking problem.
>>
I think it's a private company and can make its own rules, because that is their right and you aren't forced to use their services or work for them.

Good for them for having a clear cut, well written and simple policy.
>>

This
>do you have a weapon sir
>no

These people are just retarded leftists
Guarantee they are in the same retard bunch that think gun free zones magically work
>>
>>32872884
>how would they even know?

Those who CC in a taxi are exactly the sort of people who would either:

>tell the driver in a futile attempt to impress them
>wear tactical gear whilst riding to visit their disabled sister in hospital
>leave it on the back seat when clambering their gigantic lardy bodies out the back of the miniature honda they specified when ordering

As a general rule, anyone who takes a taxi at night is drunk. Anyone who takes one during the day is insane.

>>32872863
If you're transporting longarms or multiple firearms, then you should have your own transportation anyway, even if it's a borrow car or a ride. I wouldn't feel comfortable trusting an unknown driver to not freak out about it.

f you're carrying concealed, then if it's properly concealed they hsould never know you've got a gun on you.

If you're open carrying and for whatever reason cannot legally conceal it, then that's kinda bullshit, but i respect the company's right to do business as they please, and will take my business elsewhere.
>>
>>32872863
Well, I don't drink and own a car so I've never used Uber, but I guess it's their right to say it. That's the thing though, concealed carry is called that for a reason... Good luck enforcing that policy.

If I was an Uber driver, I sure as shit would be carrying.

It's a sensible policy as far as I'm concerned. Uber is mostly for people too drunk to drive or who don't have their life together enough to own a car. If they can't afford transportation, or are drunk, then why do they have a gun? What kind of decision making is that?

If I drove for Uber, I'd just carry anyway.
If I ever did need Uber, I'd just carry anyway.

So, no, I'm not against their policy.

Sure, the amount of regulatory overlap is different depending on city, but I think the biggest difference in price is both because they aren't unionized and there is no longer a government-enforced transportation monopoly.

As noted in this thread, I don't see how this can really be practically enforced.

If the vehicle is your own and you are not an Uber employee but a contractor or whatever drivers legally are, can Uber really say you cannot use their app while a firearm is in the car?
Can other app providers bar me from using their application while in possession of a firearm in/on my property?

>tipping
>on an uber

Lol no. Look here, faggot. You're the one who decided to drive people around for a living under UBER'S TOS, which specifically states that tipping is not a requirement, though you are allowed to accept. Why the fuck would I tip? Because you DIDN'T smash the car into a wall or rape me to death?

Also, don't fucking talk to me. I just want to get where I'm going, not shoot the shit with a NEET-tier driver who expects tax-free compensation for his terrible conversational skills and passable driving. I've never had an uber conversation that wasn't stupid.
>"So, you're going to target?"
>yep
>"why?"
>to get groceries...?
>"what's for dinner tonight?"

Fuck. Off. I've managed for 7 fucking years without a car in Minneapolis, and it's shitty fucking Ubers that are finally making me get one. Even bus drivers know to shut the fuck up and drive.

The entire point of an uber is to be a cash-free experience. It was born out of faggoty cab drivers insisting their credit card machines were broken so they could only accept cash, and being creepy stalkers to boot. Thank fuck that uber fares are calculated at the time you lock in your destination now, so you fucking queerbaits stop circling the block to run up the fare and try to Weedle more personal info out of me.

No, you smelly hunk of shit. I don't want to date your only-semi-employed ass.
No, it wouldn't be cool if you got food at the same place as me so you could also drive me home.
No, I don't want your number so you can drive me around "off the books" for cheaper.

When I sit down, you confirm my name and my destination. Then you shut up and drive. When I leave, you say "thanks!" And drive away.

I rate almost every uber I get 5/5, because I'm not THAT much of a dick, but for Christ's sake. If you think driving Uber is a method of meeting women, fuck yourself dead.

I don't ride uber regularly (actually at all for that matter) and I refuse to tip. They make decent money as it is and while I understand why tipping is cool, the reality is that they're making more than a lot of other people do with tips and act entitled to it.
>>
>>32881145
Just to add to this because I'm still fucking mad, but I've actually had to start having ubers drop me off a block from my house because the drivers would sit outside my house for up to 15 minutes, and I've seen at least 3 of them take a picture of it.

>I think it's a private company and can make its own rules, because that is their right and you aren't forced to use their services or work for them.
1. It's NOT the right of ANYONE to deny other people of their natural rights. Fuck you.

2. It's not, in fact, a clear-cut case of drivers working for a private company - or working FOR a company at all. Uber claims that their drivers are independent contractors, and all Uber does is pair up willing riders with willing drivers who coincidentally want to "share a ride." This is how they dodge local business regulations that protect employees and regulate taxi drivers, like in how they operate a taxi service, despite zero licensure from their respective city - or how they allow drivers to work 40+ hours a week, but don't provide them any benefits - or how they don't even bother to ensure drivers are making minimum wage, or allow them to negotiate wages at all. The firearms ban is just one of many ways that Uber tries to control drivers' behavior, indicating that drivers are, in fact, employees, and not "independent contractors."

>Good for them for having a clear cut, well written and simple policy.
3. They didn't have a firearms policy up until a couple months ago. This came as an informational email update to both drivers and riders, not even asking for agreement to a new contract. For most drivers, we never agreed to any kind of firearms policy when we signed our "employment" contracts.

It's dubious that this policy could get enforced because your gun should be concealed anyway, but Uber HAS deactivated drivers who got into defensive shootings. I doubt they have the legal right to do this with drivers who lack such provisions in their "employment" contracts, but the thing is, 99% of drivers are poor, have under $1000 in their savings accounts and are unable to bring a lawsuit against a large corporation like this.

>>32874388
>but I think the biggest difference in price is both because they aren't unionized and there is no longer a government-enforced transportation monopoly.
Part of the price difference is because the company Uber is subsidized by its own drivers. To be a viable company, they would have their own cars, a system of car maintenance and so much more overhead. In place of that, they have a pyramid scheme to recruit new, ignorant drivers, and get them to subsidize the overhead costs by depreciating their own cars. Just know that every time you call for an Uber ride, you are taking advantage of a driver.

>>32874859
It gets enforced when a driver makes the news by getting into a defensive shooting. Or a rider reports the incident to Uber.

>>32874880

UPS Driver here, I agree Uber drivers are fucking terrible drivers. I can get into 5 accidents a year in 1 rolling year so i must admit i have definitely knocked off their mirrors on purpose our vans are so beat to shit you would never notice anyway. But suck to be them fags

I'm making good money on my own hours while I look for a full time job in my field. I would gain nothing by getting into the mud with an obviously emotional truck driver and debating hypotheticals about car maintenance or driving ability when you obviously have preconceived notions that you're not going to let go of.

That said, I'm honestly curious where in either of my posts you thought you saw a person who would be willing to defend Uber as a company. Can you quote a passage that gave you this idea? My posts are: >>32881336 and >>32881453.

how do I into CDL school without becoming swift?

Nah, i just yell at traffic all day you guys are legit the bottom the barrel in driving sense.
Just wanted to let you know that you are shit.

>"good money"
>"look for a job in my field"

please, its not good money. its just money. If you are working for uber you probably are not putting 8 hours a day into what you SHOULD be doing.
Finding that job.

>get off the road sonny.

Haven't Uber drivers shot and killed people on like, 4 separate occasions while "on duty" already?

Seems like they have no way to enforce this.

Most jobs will train, just not over the road.. they want exp drivers.
Go to a school, they are like 2-3k.. but... you will enter the field and start at around 55k a year

Cdl is also nice to have to make cash, ill haul vehicles sometimes when im off and make a grand for going 1 or 2 states over and back. less then a days work
>>
>>32872888
STFU. If Uber let's drivers use their personal cars they can go fuck off and suck a cock. It's a personal vehicle used for business. It's not company property. They have a right to ask drivers not to for worrying about customers safety but they have no respect for private property it seems.

>I have marketable skills and got a good job
>I'm a trucker

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! You are scum of the earth, a bottom of the food chain shit-feeder. At least uber drivers have control of their time and can work around their other jobs. You are stuck in a dead-end (literally) job, sleeping at truck stops, masturbating in truck stop bathrooms for the rest of your life, probably getting fired when you're 60 for laziness and unable to find anyone that will hire you. Meanwhile, 90% of ubers I've been in, the driver had at least one other job and a higher income than you.

I drove for Lyft for a few months last summer. It was OK if I could work the bar crowd, but I don't really have time anymore. How would Uber/Lyft drivers threaten a truck driver's livelihood so much to get you so riled up about the topic? Or do you just have anger issues? I suppose I shouldn't ask about that, since there's probably a reason you don't have a real job. I have an uncle who drives trucks and he's schizophrenic. Even though he has a law degree, he drives trucks and lives in a trailer park. Trucking is pretty much the only way he can function as an adult.

I drive for Uber.
I carry a gun all the time when I do, both as a driver and user.
Idgaf, ban me from service, fire me, not like there aren't other options and its not like its my career.
>>
>>32872941
I talk as much to them as they do to me...unless I don't feel like talking. Once during a longer ride than I usually need to take, I told the chick I'd throw her an extra twenty to just drive in silence, as I didn't feel like talking.

>Just know that every time you call for an Uber ride, you are taking advantage of a driver.
Only if the drivers are stupid and lease a new car, some of the uber drivers near me buy decent used cars for $3-4k and quickly make the cash back in 1-2 months by just driving a couple of hours.
>>
>>32882675
You can't make $4000 by driving for Uber "only a couple of hours," and a $4000 used car is going to need maintenance. On average, I make about $.80 per mile without a surge and I end up putting about twice as many miles on my car as miles earned, due to the dead miles spent driving TO a person I'm picking up. If we assume that the person is driving smart and working the surge, we can bump up the average pay to about $1 per mile. Keep in mind, this is before taxes are assessed, before you pay for gas and before the costs associated with any maintenance - routine or catastrophic.

I would estimate that your friend would need to drive 8-10 hours a day, 7 days a week, for a solid two to three months, in order to make back the cost of the car. That's not factoring in the cost of his living expenses, and you need to keep in mind that the car is going to have at least 8000 more miles on it.
>>
>>32882746
I wish I was bullshitting you but I've seen it myself, earnings of easy $600 a week.
>>
>>32882785
$600 a week is completely doable. But you've got to remember that this number is before income tax (which they do not withhold), before you pay for gas and before you pay any maintenance costs like oil changes, new brake pads, new tires, shocks, and anything else that needs to get done to your car. I rarely break $12/hour doing Uber, and the times when I do pull $20-30/hour, it's only for short periods of time on weekends late at night, working the surge.
>>
>>32882822
>new tires, shocks
Why are you changing out your shocks so much? And tires easily last 50k miles these days.
>>
>>32882846
Well, if you buy a $4000 used car, it's likely that you'll have something like that come up in your maintenance needs. I was just trying to give tangible examples. We all know that anything that can go wrong will go wrong. It could be a fuel pump, a radiator, wheel bearings, spark plugs, a battery, exhaust leak or anything else, but when the time comes, many Uber drivers find that they have been living paycheck to paycheck, not keeping anything saved up for a big repair like that. Then they get hit with a $2000 repair bill on their car and they realize that they've only made about $2100 in Uber income since they started.
